Rate this book
When their planet faces destruction, the simian-like Cenceti flee in thousands of ships piloted by a master computer designed to watch over and guide them. When a new homeworld is discovered and preparations are made to abandon the fleet, the now sentient computer realizes it cannot assist them if they leave. After unsatisfactorily trying to convince the Cenceti to stay in space, the computer lashes out at it's creators and destroys them. Now, after years of roaming the universe and unsuccessfully interacting with dozens of species, the computer has picked up signals from another sentient species; a species in desperate need of protection. Following the signals, the computer turns its fleet of spider-shaped ships toward the planet Earth. How will the human's react to the alien computer...and will it be able to finally fulfill its programming ...

Wow!!!!! For the author's first novel, it was a great read!!!! It reminded me of Alien Nation, V, Star Trek, and Independence Day all rolled into one!!!! I really liked the Cenceti population!!! I could see this novel made into a movie for either Chiller TV or Sci-Fi!!!! Once again the creation by a humaniod being (although advanced) causes the potential destruction of humankind!!! Utopias are once again proven to be a falsehood. Overall, it appears that humankind or a kindred being will be the potential downfall of the species. It begs the question of once again, without freedom of will, is there truly a perfect society?

Great debut! Only two complaints that bumped it down from 5 stars. First, the editing for the book was below subpar. Many, many words and sentences were jarbled. (I bought my version at Megacon, Orlando, 2021) Second, the battle on Earth was a solid third of the book. This in itself could've been fine, but I was disappointed that the Cenceti had no more leading role to play after their appearance.
