Aaaaand the big reveal has finally arrived. And boy, was it disappointing.
Look, if you drag out a secret for too long, it'll be that much harder surprising everyone when the reveal finally occurs. Unfortunately, while there was a lot of build up to the secret, the actual secret had had almost no build up whatsoever. So Musawo basically had to cram what should have been multiple chapters of build up, exposition, and cast reactions in like three chapters. Oh, and just in case you aren't aware *SPOILER ALERT* the next two volumes are the last ones, and it's not like the next volume's gonna be dealing with the knowledge and the final volume the resolution, both volumes are technically the conclusion to the story. So yeah, Musawo literally shoved the big reveal so late into the series that readers barely have time to react to it and won't have much time to ruminate on it in future installments. It's just a really poor way of handling a big reveal and it's so, so disappointing.
Welp, I'm this far in so I might as well see it through to the bitter end. Yaaaaaaaay.
This series has become so complicated and unnecessary. I know that, as a 30 year old married woman, I probably should not judge a YA manga too harshly. The fact of the matter is, this is so dramatic. A character cried 11 different times within this one volume. It’s super unrealistic. These children think they’re in love with someone they barely know. It’s sweet, but starting to get annoying. Also, there is a 9-year age gap between a 15- and 24-year old that they’re trying to turn into a romance. 😬
The big secret was finally revealed and I feel a little let down. I was expecting something more sinister. I've grown bored with the series and won't be continuing.
