Will an ancient loss keep them apart? No one can deny that Beatrice McCoy is tough. As the second in command of a large pack, she's had to be. But when one werewolf in particular wanders into her life, she finds she's got a soft spot for him and she hates that. Despite her best efforts, she's unable to resist his mysterious charms and dark green stare. Too bad the wolf that finally caught her attention doesn't plan to stick around. Will is the original werewolf. The first one of his kind. And it's made for a lonely existence. He's wandered the globe for centuries searching for something he's never been able to name. Something he thought he'd never find or perhaps lost long ago. What are the odds he'd discover it in a small mountain town in North Carolina? When the fiery passion between them is stoked to life, no one is safe from the fallout. Can she let down her guard long enough to let him in? Or will his age-old heartache and guilt stand in the way of their future together? Contains mature themes.

I've been waiting for Bea's story, and wow, it practically gutted me. I loved how strong, and ruthless she was, yet still had so much compassion for others. So many times I wanted to knock her and Will's heads together. Talk about stubborn. They are obviously meant to be, but that doesn't always guarantee a happy ever after, because sometimes, we're our own worst enemy. The ups and downs, the twists and turns, the uncertainty of everything will have you flipping through the pages needing to know how it all ends. That ending, it packs one heck of a punch. I'm not sure how Heather expects me to wait for the next book in this series, I'm not a patient person, and I need to know what's coming next! I don't trust that guy at the end, he had my hackles rising. So please, oh please, let the next book be here soon. 🙏

Can't wait for the next one!!!

Whoa. I'm currently in the I can't wait to see what happens next moment. I just finished and I'm in awe. I love the tough characters this time!! Bea is strong willed, independent but amazing!! Will is an old soul who struggles to find his balance with Bea!!

Seeing Bea's side of the war was fascinating as well. I loved seeing her fierceness and her compassion all at once especially towards her best friend Peyton.

I cannot wait to see what happens next and without a spoiler I will just say that in this book is roller coaster and I'm here for it.

Bea is a hard noses Beta to the pack. She does what she has to keep everyone safe. She is drawn to Will, the original werewolf. Will is drawn to Bea, he doesn't want to get close due to his curse, he doesn't know if he will be strong enough to walk away from her.
Bea will slowly let Will see the person she is behind the shield she uses. Bea will always have to prove herself to everyone. Will has to let Bea be herself as well. Will Bea and Will be able to overcome the obstacles that are placed before them or will their love be doomed.

This book had me hooked from the first page. I loved being able to see a new depth to Bea. The push and pull with Will, will have you ready to scream at them. You will enjoy the ride of this first book. Even the ending had me going. I can't wait to read the next one. This author knows how to weave a story that is so well written that you will not stop until you reach the last page, you will still want more. I highly recommend you reading this.

What do you do when the first werewolf shows up on your doorstep?? Well Bea didn't quite trust his intentions, or even if what he was saying was true....But as time went by she realizes that there is something pulling her towards him and she can't resist it. As beta of the Asheford Pack she has to keep a semblance of propriety especially since she is sneaking Will into her room at night. He wants to let everyone know, but Bea wants to keep it a secret.

Will wants to leave like he has always done, he doesn't want to see Bea die while he stays the same....He has lived for thousands of years and seen many lovers die, but Bea is different, he has fallen in love with her and that has never happened before...

What will happen to these two lovers as war between this pack and the pack from Charlotte breaks out? When Bea is told to be the Alpha of Charlotte will Will follow Bea there, or let her live out her life with someone else?

Yes Bea yes!

She is the hard, tough sister. She kept things on lockdown and when men got close, let's say that things usually ended up bloody.

Now we get part 1 of this love story. Will is an interesting character with his similar exterior, but then also his soft heart. He is conflicted with wanting to be open about the relationship but also about not getting attached because everyone he loves, dies.

I can't wait to read what happens in the next book! Will these invisible fated mates get together for good!?

Love This Series

Oh my heart! This book just did me in. Reading Bea and Will’s story was intense. Bea is the strong one who feels like she always has something to prove since she is Beta of the pack. This book showed her softer side and I loved getting that chance to see this side of her.

3.5 rounding to 4 stars.
Did I feel the slow burn chemistry? Yes. Did I appreciate the dynamic but also the character building? Yes.
Did I think they were both being stupid sometimes? You bet.
Did I realize this wasn’t a standalone? No, and I’m super bummed.
We’ll see if I get motivated to pick up book 2, but all in all it was a quick read and I did enjoy it.

Have really enjoyed this story about Bea and Will so much. It's the second book in this series. The story is really great and I was in no way disappointed at all with this one. I can not wait for the rest of their story.

Amazing as always

Every single book heather writes is amazing. And this was no exception! You can really feel the pain these 2 go through. But the sparks are off the chart too great story line in perfect tandem with the rest of the series !

Alan new favorite in the series

This story is a favorite in the series so far. Bea ans Will seem to have more "grown up problems" in a way that helped the story ring more true with someone in thier 30's, imo. the other couples struck me as much younger.

Too much inside someone's brain and not enough dialog between characters

The story was 100 pages too long. The characters need to interact with each other. How much insecure head space can you deal with.

Good Book

I was a little let down because Bea 's story was not finished in this novel. The story didn't process as well as the first in the series.

Book 1 was better. This had a sad wrap up. Sometimes loving someone just isn't enough. A lot of upheaval in this book.

Such Sweet Love

This is a very powerful book. I couldn’t break away from it and the precious love of Bea and Will.
I recommend all the books in this series. Written so that you feel like you are there in the Lodge with them.

For a 5000 year old loner werewolf, Will certainly doesn’t act, talk, or think like it.
