What an interesting book! So much biographical data about these amazing women! Lots of pics(not all color) and those old fashioned 70's patterns I can't handle but there is a lot of great creative ideas.

A TIME CAPSULE LOVE LETTER FROM BYGONE QUILTERS
I can't believe all the time and care that went into describing and photographing each step of the quilting process. This book is a gift to us in 2018.
If any of these people are still alive, THANK YOU!
This is a whole story about quilters in West Virginia. It includes praise of President Johnson which I found refreshing. His poverty programs changed the lives of these people.
I love the voice of this book. The word choice and expressions take me back in time.
The pictures are very authentic and quaint especially the series of making a quilting frame with saw horses.

A unique quilting book that will cause "girls" of a certain age to reminisce while reading.

The Mountain Artisans Quilting Book by Alfred Allan Lewis (Macmillan Publishing Co. Inc. 1973) (746.46). This is a book of quilting patterns, quilting stitches, and other quilting techniques. From the old world to the new, this book preserves the record for the revival and survival of this ancient handcraft. The volume features many beautiful photographs of finished quilts to inspire the neophyte or the expert. My rating: 7/10, finished 9/22/16.

In interesting book that contains a little bit of history with a little bit of technique. Love the funky-fresh 1970's projects, fabrics, and styles.
