As the resident psychiatrist at Jameson Force Security, I make it my business to know all about our team—the good, the bad, and everything in between. But for every secret of theirs I hold close, I have secrets of my own I hold closer. I’m not trying to hide my history, but…it’s complicated. And that’s putting it mildly. It’s easier to keep my past firmly in the past, until the day a familiar face walks through my office door.

Clay Brandeis is the only one who knows my whole story. Through the darkest period of my life, he was by my side. A friend and confidant. I once thought he was something more, but he walked away and left me wondering how I got it so wrong.

After all these years, one look at him and I know I wasn’t wrong at all. His handsome face, his strong and steady demeanor, despite the icy glare he’s throwing my way. My heart wasn’t wrong about Clay Brandeis, and this Christmas, I’m determined to make sure he knows it too.

NOTE: Code Name: Grace originally appeared in the ‘Tis the Season for Romance Anthology in December 2020.

”I will always—and I mean until the day I die—consider you to be my hero.”

“I didn’t get you anything for Christmas.” She tilts her head, smiling slyly. “Of course you did. You gave me your trust and your love. In all the history of presents—Christmas or otherwise—it’s been the best gift I’ve ever received.”

Released as part of the ‘Tis The Season anthology, so this is probably less than 100 pages.
This is a novella in the Jameson Force Security series.

Synopsis:
Corinne knew Clay years ago when he was the FBI Agent involved with her parent’s murder case. They became close confidants and friends and during a celebratory evening when the serial killer got justice, they shared a kiss. However feeling like he failed her that he didn’t catch the bad guy before it impacted Corinne‘s life and concerned about their 8 year age difference, the kiss just made him feel even more guilty so he bolted out of her life and never looked back.

Nine years later they’re paths cross and Corinne is determined not to let him go this time and “coerces” him to spend Christmas Eve with her, and they end up getting snowed in. (😉 sneaky Corinne 😉)
- ”Now, had I watched the weather before I brought Clay here? I had. I’ll admit I’d known we’d be getting a lot of wintry weather, and I’d banked on us getting snowed-in.”

My Thoughts: The following are my thoughts about this book:
General:
- Trigger warning: parents killed by a serial killer (off page)
- Setting: Pittsburgh, PA

Characters:
- Clay (39, FBI Agent):
- FBI Agent who was assigned to Corinne’s parents case.
- Parents died when he was in his early teens and raised by an uncle.
- Loved Corinne all those years ago but can’t let go of his guilt
- - ”I failed you. I didn’t catch him fast enough to prevent your parents’ deaths. And no matter how you might feel about it, I can’t ever forget that. Frankly, you shouldn’t either.”

- Corinne (31, resident psychiatrist at Jameson Force Security):
- Corinne’s parents were killed by a serial killer when she was in college
- Confident and secure in who she is and what her purpose is.
- - ”My job is to evaluate potential new agents as well as provide counseling to others who come off harrowing and sometimes soul-breaking missions.”
- Loved Clay all those years ago and hurt he left her without a backward glance

Story Thoughts:
- How would an elite security force not know the back ground of the resident psychiatrist? That seems unlikely
- The secondary characters were a little overwhelming in the first chapter or so. For anyone who has read previous books this would not be an issue
- A remote location on a Christmassy winter evening was a warm and cozy setting for the story.

Overview:
- Do you need to read previous books in series?: It would be helpful to understand the secondary characters but not completely necessary.
- POV: dual POV
- Tropes: I guess I could classify as second chance even though they technically weren’t a couple nine years ago.
- H likable? Yes
- h likable? Yes
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 75%
- First time they sleep together: 85%
- First time they say I Love You 85%
- steamy? The bedroom scenes were descriptive.
- OW/OM drama? no
- H/h cheat? no
- Time apart? they spent 9 years apart after Clay walked away the first time.
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No
- Did I cry? No
- Did I laugh? No
- Cliffhanger? no
- HEA? HFN. I imagine you will get snippets of them in other books that will solidify their HEA
- Epilogue? No
- Recommend? The whole story spans about 2 days, but for a short story these two had some difficult conversations to work through. So the tone is a bit heavy but I did find it enjoyable and it made me interested in the other books in the series.

Quotes
This man, who has been so influential to my entire adult life, means the absolute world to me, and he probably has no idea.

“So we have to what?” he asks, sounding panicked at the thought of being stuck here with me. “Wait for a spring melt until we can get back to civilization?”

“He’s not a patient of mine, but I’ve never seen anyone more in dire need of purging the guilt from his system than Clay.”

“Clay… this might be hard for you to understand because this has clearly been troubling you for years, but I’ve been able to find peace over my parents’ deaths. Do I miss them? Yes. Do I still mourn them? Yes. But I’ve also been able to build a life for myself that has made me happy, whole, and left me without regrets.”

Code Name Grace was part of the Jameson Force Security series by Sawyer Bennett. Although part of the series, it can be read as a stand-alone.

Grace was the team Psychiatrist that made sure everyone’s mental health was well. We didn’t know much about her beyond that until now. Bennett provided her backstory by introducing a past acquaintance, Clay Brandeis.

Code Name Grace was a very short Novella. As such, it was quick and to the point with very little depth. I would have preferred a longer version with more detail and depth; however, it was a quick, light and enjoyable addition to the series.

Awww, beautiful little story about Corrine (Jameson's resident psychiatrist) and Clay (FBI agent). Wasn't so sure that Clay was ever going to forgive himself for his role in her parent's death ( which was crazy of him to feel such guilt) by a serial killer. But 9 long years have passed, and a chance encounter at Jameson has Corrine boldly insisting that they talk again....and figure out if the closeness they enjoyed during the time after her parent's murder can ever happen again for them. If Clay can just let go of the guilt of not doing enough to prevent their deaths...maybe there could be a future for them?

I loved this story, even though it was too short...I wanted more! I wanted Clay to forgive himself and start accepting what he deserved ---a life with Corrine. Thank god Corrine wasn't one to take 'no' for an answer. Loved their Christmas Eve sexy times--- that was rather hot! I want to see more of this couple. Hope they're mentioned in later books in this addicting series!

Part of 'Tis the Season for Romance anthology. This book takes place during the previous book Code Name: Rook.

Clay and Corinne knew each other nine years ago. She wanted a relationship, but he pushed her away. They meet up again, and this time he's not going to do it again. She "kidnaps" him and get him to see things her way.

𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 is a beautiful, semi suspenseful, second chance novella.

This novella is also part of the 𝕁𝕒𝕞𝕖𝕤𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕔𝕖 𝕊𝕖𝕔𝕦𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕪 𝕊𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤 by Sawyer Bennett. Sawyer Bennet is a one click author for me and one of my favorite authors. Her body of work is so broad and her writing is varied. This is a 4 star novella for me. For such a short story, only 8 chapters, Bennett captures the complex history of the hero and heroine who have gone years without seeing each other.

I recommend reading the Jamesforce Security series before this in order to get an understanding of the secondary characters, reason for location and history of who the characters are. Also there is a scene right at the end of Code Name Rook where Cage who works with the hero in this novella, Clay in order to solve a case. At the end of it, Clay sees Corrine but we the reader have no idea how they know each other.

Seeing this gem had me so excited to finally find out the answer! This was a short but oh so sweet second chance romance that gave me all the feels. It's also set in picturesque Pittsburg and in the Allegheny Mountains PA. The described location was one of my favorite parts of the book.

Corrine's house is life goals by the way. I need that house in my life.

I loved Corrine's bravery and strength. She knows what she wants and goes for it. I love a confident heroine. Bennett usually writes strong heroines I respect and heroes that make me jealous of the heroines 😉.

CODE NAME GRACE is the latest novella in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult JAMIESON FORCE SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Jameson Force Security. This is twenty-nine year old, psychiatrist Dr. Corinne Ellery, and thirty-seven year old, FBI Agent Clay Brandeis’s story line.

NOTE: CODE NAME: GRACE was first released in the multi-authored 'Tis The Season For Romance anthology.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Clay and Corinne) CODE NAME: GRACE follows the rebuilding romance and relationship between our leading couple. Nine years earlier, Agent Clay Brandeis was the leading investigator on the Salt Slasher serial killer case, and Corinne’s parents were the killer’s final victims. Believing his inaction caused the death of Corinne’s parents, Clay ran from the woman who had stolen his heart. Fast forward to present day wherein a Christmas Eve snowstorm has ‘trapped’ our hero with the woman he failed. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Clay and Corinne as Clay continues to struggle with the guilt of Corinne’s parent’s death.

CODE NAME: GRACE is a wonderfully sexy and decadent second chance Christmas romance. The premise is heart warming; the romance is provocative; the characters are energetic, a little bit broken and lost.

What a wonderful little short story for this series. In the last book in this series, Code Name: Rook, there’s a brief scene where we learn Grace is not as unflappable as she appears to be. As the psychiatrist for Jameson Force Security, she hears and sees a lot from the special ops tough guys (and women) who she works with. Generally, we see Grace as the calming presence in the room. Of course, after her exchange with Clay in that book, I was eager to find out how they know each other and why he flustered her.

The story behind the connection Clay and Grace have is heartbreaking. They did not meet under ideal circumstances, but have spent the years since thinking of one another. Clay’s reasons for what he did all those years ago are solid. He truly was trying to give Grace a better life and wanted to see her break free of tragedy. But now it’s time to revisit these old feelings and stop pushing her away.

There are so many tropes that I love in this story. Second chance romance, of course. But so much more fun, and so easy to see coming, snowed in! Yes! I love a good snowed in story. So much fun. Beautiful chemistry on top of all of that.

The Jameson Force Security psychiatrist Dr. Corinne Ellery has had a rough life that most people don't know about. She witnessed her parents murder at the hands of the Salt Slasher serial killer. During the trial Corinne got very close to the lead FBI Agent Clay Brandeis and thought they had a strong connection. After the trial, Corinne took her chances with Clay and kissed him despite their eight year age difference. He kissed her back and then abruptly said goodbye and left. Now nine years later, Corinne is shocked to see Clay standing in the Jameson Force offices. Corinne wants to discuss the past with Clay but keeps putting her off so she decides to take things into her own hands and force the issue. After finally discussing their past, Corinne is able to get Clay to realize his mistakes and together they start to rebuild the relationship that they started so long ago.

This was a great story of second chances. Neither Corinne nor Clay had ever really let go of their feelings for the other and it was wonderful to see these two come full circle for their happy ending. I have always really liked Corinne and now even like her more. I'm glad she has Clay back in her life.

Code Name: Grace is a short novella springing from the Jameson Force Security series. Despite the short length of the book, Sawyer Bennett does a phenomenal job at painting an in-depth image of Corinne and Clay’s past. Though we’ve become familiar with Corinne from the inception of this series, this is the first time Ms. Bennett has divulged information about her past, and we’ve only just met Clay recently. But when they unexpectedly cross paths in book 6, we are given a small taste of the past they have shared. And now that Corrine has seen him again, she will do everything in her power to help Clay’s scars heal and finally let the loved they’ve always shared come to life.

Code Name: Grace is a wonderful addition to the Jameson Force Security series and Sawyer Bennett has delivered another great romance adding to this amazing set of stories. As always, I excitedly await the next release in this series which is alway replete with fantastic characters and stories which never fail to entertain and completely envelop my heart with suspense and hot, sexy romance.

Grace has an important job at Jameson, but up until now we didn’t really know too much about her or her background. It’s quite tragic but the upside was she met her perfect man. He was slightly older, and was the main detective on the case she was a witness for. The bond went beyond that was professional but Clay had guilt of failing Grace.

Now nine years later, a chance meet has Grace not wanting to let Clay disappear on her again. She invites him to her home and shows him how she’s coped after her painful past. Once he accepts he did all he could at the time, things progress quickly.

This novella is not a mission story line the others in this series have, it’s simply a filler in of who Grace is, her dreadful history and an amazing man she fell in love with during that time. It is a quick but essential part to the series as it cements Grace as an integral member of the team. It also delivers on a sweet second chance romance.

A novella that gives you the sweet feels you need.

Corrine is the team psychiatrist for Jameson Force Security. Her role is just as important as the ones who are out facing the bad guys. She keeps them in the right frame of mind. I’ve loved seeing tidbits of her over the series of books, so I was happy to dive into her happily ever after. She intrigued me.

So when her and FBI agent, Clay, see each other for the first time in nine years, you’d think it’d be a joyous reunion for both. Nope. Awkward! There’s some things left unsaid, and Corrine is not letting him walk away without talking. The air needs cleared.

Corrine and Clay have a connected past, where Clay doesn’t feel good enough for Corrine. He failed her. Until Corrine gets him to open up and finally let go of those demons he has kept in all these years.

I loved their second chance romance. It was so sweet but also a little spicy that makes it just right! Don’t skip out on this one!

Code Name: Grace is a novella in the Jameson Force Security series by Sawyer Bennett. You can read each book as standalone but I recommend reading them all since they are badass and unique. At the end of Code Name: Rook we met Clay, an FBI agent who hasn’t seen Jameson’s resident psychiatrist in nine years. And now that Corinne saw him she isn’t going to just let him walk away again. They had a bond and she knows he felt it too so she makes a plan. To get him to talk. To listen. No better time than the holidays, right? Will he put up a fight or give in? I am so happy they got a story even if it’s a short one.

Clay and Corinne have a second chance at romance. After 9 years, they run into each other unexpectedly at Jameson Force Security. He was a hero to her and he felt like he didn't deserve it. Corinne is much wiser than she was 9 years earlier and she isn't taking no for an answer this time. She wants Clay to know she in no way blames him and he should let it go. Although a quick, easy read it didn't feel rushed. Liked how both of them were able to finally let it all out there. Was a great addition, especially since it kind of goes along the timeline of Code Name Rook.

This story was part of Tis the season for romance anthology. It was a short read about Corinne & Clay. When Corinne’s parents get murdered on Thanksgiving, Clay needs to find the killer. He builds a friendship with Corinne & they fall in love but he can’t give in on his feelings. So fast forward 9 years later when they reconnect. So one day Clay is thinking he’s not enough for Corinne because he feels guilty for not catching the murderer on time & the next day -not even 12 hours in between- he’s saying I love you to her. I kept thinking it was missing something.

It's been 9 years since Corrine saw Clay. After solving her parents murder they had grown closer. She kisses him and he pushes her away and she never saw him again.
When he shows up at her office they are both surprised. He runs because he is still denying hiuicks feelings for her and the guilt he feels over her parents death.
She tracks him down and makes him listen to her and lets him know she doesn't feel like he is responsible.
They realize they still love each other and plan a future together.
A fast quick read.

Just Perfect👌

Code Name: Grace is a novella length story of Jameson’s resident psychiatrist Corinne. At the end of the last story, her and Clay see each other by accident when he’s taking a tour of the premises that they use. This story highlights how they met and their story, which even though it’s a sad one, it’s still has a great ending❤️

Love this entire series and I can’t wait to see what Sawyer has in store for us next😍

Code Name: Grace is a wonderful holiday love story from Sawyer Bennett for her Jameson Force Security series. It's a perfect holiday romance about two people, Corinne and Clay, reconnecting after nine years. I loved that Corrine, guilted Clay into spending Christmas Eve with her because that was the only way he would agree. She has a hard sell getting him to leave recriminations behind. But love wins out and the future looms bright for them

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to read Corinne Ellery and Clay Brandeis story. And although this is a short story the author really brings their story and history to life. After reading all the Jameson Force security stories I was so glad to get the story behind Corinne. And what a story it is. Full of heartbreak and grief as well as loss. But this second chance romance between these two is simply a dream come true.

Beautiful romance!
This was a beautiful second chance romance set at Christmas time.
Corrinne has demons but she’s also a strong independent woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Her happily ever after.
This was a charming and romantic story that’s a perfect contrast to the rest of this series.
This is book 6.5 a novella with an HEA that can be read as a complete standalone.
A must read and I highly recommend it.

For me this was the least good.
Her past was really dark and that was heavy, but all the other stuff was not so heavy.

But I missed the chemistry between them.

Going with 4stars because this was a really really good story, but it was a novella and just too short. Hoping for more on these two characters in the future. Sawyer Bennett excels at introducing great characters and storylines well into her series and Jameson Force Security is no exception.

There's not a bad Jameson Force Security book, but this one has a drawback... It's over too soon! Written for an anthology this novella gives you the back story & HEA for a Jameson member who isn't an agent but still an important part of the group

Just ok for me

I know this is a novella but it fell flat for me. I feel like there could have been so much more to the story. Long separated lovers reconnect when least expected and live happily ever after. That’s pretty much it. Disappointing.

Short and sweet!

I would have loved more of Clay and Corinne, but this short story was amazing. The connection they have from the past tragedy of her parents murder is the kind of bond that never goes away. I loved how she went after him and made him talk it out with her.

Hot and heavy

Corrine & Clay have a 9 year old past. He shows up at her employers office, out of the blue. Corrine knows she has to take action to get him back in her life. And she does! Hot and heavy, worth the investment.
