A collection of stories that reminds us rock bottom is a place worth visiting. Dark yet hilarious, this uncompromising debut is a fine blend of thinking and drinking, degeneracy and philosophy, a twisted journey from the barstool to the grave.
I see good ratings but I’m not sure why. I guess it just isn’t really my thing. A wise man once said that free Kindle books are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get. I think he said that.
Good reading by author Matt Gibson. A collection of contemporary stories of various types. I'm recommending it. Not for the squeamish reader, if you always want the story to have a happy ending - don't.
Stories about:
Drinking and driving.
Cocaine and pupusas.
How to have a hangover.
Funny, Dysfunctional family drinking.
Keep your kids out of the bouncy castle. A tale from prison.
Flying totally €u¢king sucks, but this story is good.
Neck Pain is a collection of 10 short stories that takes you on a ride through life’s darkest corners, but somehow manages to make you laugh along the way.
Matt Gibson has a real talent for finding the humor in humanity’s lowest moments, mixing heavy drinking with deep thinking in ways that shouldn’t work but absolutely do.
If you appreciate dark humor and short stories, Neck Pain is definitely worth checking out.
This was the first book I read by Matt Gibson and it very quickly became one of my favorites. It is the perfect balance of being dark and humorous. Gibson’s writing style is captivating, and makes you want to keep reading. Reading for extended periods of time can be challenging for my ADD brain. This book was so good I finished it the same day I got it. Highly recommend if you’re into quality and captivating writing and have a dark sense of humor.
Super compelling to take a peak inside this mans brain. It’s a dark vortex but ultimately you’re happy to be in it. Would read everything else he writes. Shout out pancake
