Read this book for my toddler's bedtime. A good story teaching kids how to manage their anger. Riley was playing with blocks in school when another student accidentally knocked down her building. She was mad and screamed and threw other blocks. But teacher, Mr. Rex calmed Riley down with different exercises. One was to close your eyes and think happy thoughts. Another was to take deep breath and count slowly from one to ten. It's good to have a calm teacher to explain to Riley the feelings she had.
This story is intended for readers ages 5 to 7.
Thank you Callisto Kids for the opportunity to read and review!
This book is fantastic and is a huge help in teaching my autistic son about feeling angry and ways we can calm down our bodies when we feel that way. It’s a cute and straightforward story with lovely pictures which makes it easy for him to understand and he’s been asking it for it nightly before bed.
The back also has a section with more resources for parents and reading recommendations which I love and it has some really great exercises to practice for anger management as well! Our favourite currently is the bowl of soup technique. It works for managing anxious feelings too.
I showed this to my son’s OT and she added it to her collection as well! Really great resource for kids of all abilities and a game changer for kiddos on the spectrum. I hope the author releases more books in the future!!
Fabulous concept and awesome illustrations. Superbly written, with genuinely helpful information about anger management. Kindle ebook has some formatting issues. Page count is off, so you cannot view the full spreads horizontally. They are separated, which is a shame with such beautiful illustrations. On the back pages, text overlaps with images a bit.
I chose this rating because it is written directly for children and grown-ups, but explains in an easy, light-hearted way for children to understand and relate to this story. I loved how they found a calm way to resolve the problem. Everyone walked away happy and felt understood. I would recommend this book to any adult or child that's going through something challenging and difficult like Riley.

I think this is a great book to have for any child. Everyone gets mad at times and this book explains that it’s okay to be mad but we have to know how to react when we feel this way. The teacher gives riley multiple exercises to calm herself down and these are great exercises for children to know.
The illustration are cute and the story is as well. The conversation starters at the end and the resources for adults at the end of the book are a really good tool for helping children who might have anger issues.
