When the UK goes into lockdown and my landlord evicts me from my flat, my brother kindly offers to let me stay at his place whilst he moves in with his girlfriend in the Cotswolds. Little do I know, he’s offered the exact same thing to his best friend, Noah Langston.
And so it appears that I have a new roommate. A tall, gorgeous, stupidly sexy roommate who makes orgasm-inducing food and makes me want to drop my panties every time he smiles.
But we’re determined to keep things between us PG.
Jumping into bed would only make our living situation uncomfortable, and that’s not what we need when we’re stuck together in this tiny, one-bedroom apartment for the foreseeable future.
I guess I’ll just have to fight all the urges telling me to jump his bones at every moment of the day, even if it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.
Besides, it’s only temporary. I can keep it in my pants until the world goes back to normal, and it’s not like I’m in any danger of falling in love with him.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was just a fun read! I love how the author took the current situation of our world and turned it into a love story for two people stuck in lockdown.
I love Honey and her stubbornness. She’s headstrong and I think that’s an amazing trait to have in a book heroine! & Noah is the definition of a perfect book boyfriend. He’s confident, not overly cocky and has a heart of pure gold. Him & Honey have a scorching chemistry that has no outlet....until it does. And it is HOT! I loved every second of it.
I understand the hesitation between the characters and why they fought their connection, seeing as how one lives in a whole different part of the world when there isn’t a global pandemic. But I believe the resolution to the problem was written really well!
Lovers in Lockdown is what everyone needs during this season of life. Noah and Honey's story is sensual, funny, and makes the best of our current struggles. I stayed up all night to finish this book!
There's a lot to highlight about this book. For me, the author's writing style is superb, particularly her descriptors for intimate scenes. You can tell that the author has had some formal training in the art of writing and weaving a story together. The main characters are realistic, and their flaws are relatable. However, it's the author's creativity and humor behind the story is what makes this book memorable for me.
I agree with the below review: this does NOT read like a debut book! I'm ecstatic to read more from Maisie Myers. Let your talent shine, Maisie!!!
Lovers in Lockdown is Maisie Myers' debut novel - which certainly doesn't read as one!
This is Noah and Honey's story of finding love when they are placed together in the same flat during lockdown. Well written and hilariously funny, it's sweet and real - and was a pleasure to read. I usually read much darker themed romances, so this was just what I needed! Something fun, light and sweet with all the feels. Congrats on your debut, Maisie! I will definitely be back to read any future books you write. ❤
“He’s taught me that happily ever afters don’t only belong between the pages of a romance novel.”🥺
•Review: Cute short read! Noah:👨🍳Honey: 🙋🏽♀️
•Moments/quotes: “I miss her. I miss the sounds she makes when she eats, the way she can’t look me in the eye when she’s talking about herself, the way she doesn’t know how to react when I flirt with her.”
“Honey’s a forever kind of girl. “
“There are just some things in life that I can’t live without, and cuddles and fast food are two of them.”
‘How do you like your eggs?’ I ask, pouring myself another cup of coffee and hoping that I actually get to drink it this time. ‘With a kiss.’ Honey throws a hand over her mouth as soon as the words have left her lips,”
“Honey Matthews is a funny woman, even if she doesn’t mean to be. She scowls at me. It’s adorable.”
“sadness and Honey just shouldn’t go together. I don’t like it.”
“I prefer painting people in candid moments. I just like the honesty of their expressions and stuff.”
“This woman has affected me more in a week than any other woman I’ve met in my lifetime. She’s a deadly combination of kindness and beauty, and I can no longer trust myself around her.”
“it’s the fact that he seems to take a genuine interest in who I am.”
“women like her are easy to fall for. Way too easy. They’re the sort of women that make a man like me want to throw caution to the wind, get down on one knee and procreate.”
“Anyone who has ever so much as looked at her wrong is an asshole. Because Honey is sunshine. And she sparkles like stardust and Christmas lights.”
“I shouldn’t tease her, but I can’t help it. That scowl of hers is so damn cute, especially when her brow furrows and she pouts her lips like a stroppy toddler.”
“Images of being pregnant with Noah’s baby flash through my mind uncontrollably. Him reaching for my swollen belly to feel the baby kick. Him holding doors open for me to waddle through. His face all proud and beaming as the doctor tells us the sex of the baby.”
‘you have so many colours, like more colours than the solar system and the milky way and the entire fucking universe. And you’re so beautiful, so fucking beautiful, and your heart is bigger than anyone’s I’ve ever met,”
“she taught me, man. She taught me what love feels like, what home feels like.”
“And no, I’m not embarrassed to be standing here crying over a girl, because she’s not just any girl, she’s the only girl and real men cry,”
What happens when you are stuck quarantining with your brother’s best friend? You do everything to avoid the attraction that is brewing.
Noah and Honey are forced to be together. Its not as easy as it may seem. Being stuck in a small apartment with someone extremely sexy and an amazing cook has red flags all over it. Red flags, that is beyond tempting. Who cares if he is your brother’s best friend? What happens in this apartment stays in the apartment, lets just hope there aren’t feelings attached with it.
At first this book started off a bit flat for me. I honestly thought about stopping halfway through. It didn’t have the forbidden ness and banter that I usually love with this type of trope. There was more of the forbidden side for Noah doing the right thing with his best friend’s sister. Once I got to about 50% of the book it picked up and I’m glad I stuck with it! It got to a point I couldn’t put it down.
Noah has a way with words, so trust me when I say you’ll want to read what he says!
I received an ARC of Lovers in Lockdown in exchange for an honest review. The author’s writing is excellent. She had me captivated at the very beginning of the book. I didn’t want to put it down. The characters are funny, stubborn, feisty, headstrong, quirky and totally relatable. I laughed, even teared up a few times. This book gave me all the feels. It cannot be easy to write a book where the whole story happens in one place because of a world-wide lockdown, yet Maisie pulled it off and left me wanting more. I want more Honey and Noah. I also want to know the stories of Reid and Ellie, who are also funny and exciting characters that pop up a few times in the book. I never read a RomCom book before and it is now a new favorite genre of book for me. I will be adding Maisie Myers to my favorite authors and cannot wait to read more of her work. If you love a light-hearted, funny, truly romantic love story, then this is the book for you!!
I really enjoyed this trope and it was something a little different for me. I really liked how the characters had instant chemistry but fought against it, the tug of war thing was fab. At times it was laugh out loud funny, seriously, if you're in for a bit of fun, mischief and some laughs then this is the book for you. Our hero Noah is a dish and very sexy. I liked our heroine she was fearless, funny and yeah a little nuts. I Don't want to give away any spoilers so read it for yourself. I'm really excited to see what's next from this author! A fun, steamy sexy read with plenty of feels :))
This was a cute read. Who doesn’t love a good RomCom and it’s set during the pandemic. I really really enjoyed this book by @maisiemyers_author!
The banter between Noah and Honey was perfect and had me laughing out loud during a couple moments. I also loved Honey’s best friend, Ellie and those good honest best friend convos.
This is a cute and steamy read you should pick up if you haven’t yet! Noah is 🤤!
I loved this cute romance book!!! It was a modern plot, taking place in a very relatable lockdown situation. Honey was feisty, and witty, and Noah was sexy and sweet. Maisie’s writing style suckered me in, and those steamy scene were amazing. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next... (Please tell me it’s a story about Reid!!)
I ended up finishing this in a day! Couldn’t put it down from start to finish, such a light hearted read, taking the current situation and turning it into this funny and romantic novel was just so lovely to being a positive outlook on what could happen being stuck in lockdown. A fabulous first novel from Maisie Myers!
I loved this book so much i read it in one sitting! It was so relatable being set in the pandemic and we can all agree Noah is exactly the kind of guy you would want to be quarantined with! Will there be a book 2 with Ellie's story?
Homey Matthews needs a place to stay for a few months and ends up at her brothers Reid’s apartment but Reid didn’t let her know his best friend will be staying there too !
This was the best romcom I've read in a LONG time. Maisie Myers had me giggling from the very first paragraph. She's crafted a beautiful story that had unique characters and strong storytelling. I can't wait to read her future novels! I highly recommend this book!
