This is one of my all-time favorite movies. Loved all of the actors' performances, particularly Terrence Stamp! Entertaining read about the making of the movie.

I would like to point out that the full title is, Making Priscilla: The Hilarious Story Behind The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I emphasize this because the hilarity, much like help in the outback, is extremely sparse. The author, Al Clark, is the producer of the film and as such writes about his involvement in the movie; monetary transactions, meetings in offices, restaurants, hotels and bars, with an occasional half finished opinion on actors and locations.

If you are interested in screenwriting, scene setup, filming and occasional cast and crew hijinks, may I recommend What Do You Mean, Murder? Clue and the Making of a Cult Classic by John Hatch.

I was expecting more. The author was more involved with the business side and hustling the movie once done and this story reflects this side of the movie. Some of the best bits are some of the actors they considered for the movie and the scouting locations adventures.

I'm going to assume that I read this 29 years ago when it came out, because it was in a bookcase covered with dust. It was such fun to revisit the making of this iconic movie, which I will be re-watching this weekend!
