Metal Warrior: Nerves of Steel is an improvement over the first book. The pacing is better, the stakes are higher, and the mystery surrounding the Exin and their human allies starts to become more interesting. There is enough action to keep the pages turning and I found myself more invested in Dane's story than I was in the first book.

That said, the series still is not quite scratching my itch for a great mech military sci-fi story. I was hoping for something with deeper world building, stronger character development and more tactical military action. It feels like the ingredients are there, but they never quite come together in a satisfying way. Better than book one and enough to make me curious about the next instalment, but I am still waiting for the series to really find its stride.

Book 2

Book 2 was a fun read and had some errors. The plot and characters have developed well. The plot is a bit repetitive in places and does not flow as well as it should. The characters seem a bit lost in what should be achieved in new problems that come up. This makes the characters thoughts and actions sporadic and very lucky. I did enjoy the book overall and it could have been a bit longer.

This is a pretty good book in its own right, and a great continuation of the series. It's not amazing - at least, not to me, though it likely would be to those who are bigger fans of this kind of story than I am. But I'm glad I decided to continue the series after having read the first book for the Febookary reading challenge last month.

Book two of 9 book set.

Mech fighter gets his legs mangled by an alien attack. Virus is released by aliens but tempory cure exists to stop effects and reduces pain. Technology let our hero fight on in various mechanical bot fighting units. Boot camp for training is rough with bullies in too much control.

Allow a day for this PG sci-fi war tale of Private-nothing Dane Williams as he finishes basic training on the Assisted Mechanized Plate for the Mechanized Infantry Division of the Federal Marines Corp. I had an ARC from Booksprout and this voluntary review is my own opinion.

Excellent

Another excellent book by Mr. Victor. There are surprises around every corner. This book is as well written as the first book in the series and just as entertaining. I highly recommend this book.

Loved it

The fight against the alien Exin continues. Even though their training is not complete the Marines and Dane are sent on their first mission. Honestly you need to read this, it’s excellent.

Dealing with Brass

Never an easy thing dealing with superiors so far above you they forget tactical priorities because they only think strategic. Have to learn and adjust on the fly, then ignore superiors when you have to protect them.

Space Opera Ahead.

Marines. Mechs. Good Characters. Worth Reading. And a Mystery into an Alien race with Human collaborators. What do the Collaborators hope/expect to gain? Traitors!!

Great read, ready for book 3 now

Was a good read continued well from book 1, characters becoming stronger, story development going from strength to strength. Hoping that medical can further develop treatments for the virus.

Nasty things from helll

You have a way of creating some interesting types of creatures for your characters to have to find how to take them out.
Highly recommend this series.

At times it reminds me of the old Batman series, "thwack", "argh". Gets old and it's not needed.
