Spirit Photographer Saburo Kono is a supernatural horror one-shot manga recently released in Shonen Jump. It is written by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu, the same creators behind the ever popular The Promised Neverland manga which ended earlier this year. Both appear eager to start a new story so soon after The Promised Neverland's end, and so far the feedback has been positive!
This was a nice little introduction to Kaiu Shirai’s work in the form of a short horror one-shot. There was snippets of some great horror artwork here by Posuka Demizu, and I was nearly tearing up by the end. So much emotion packed into less than 50 pages. It’s definitely made me curious enough to want to check out Kaiu’s The Promised Neverland manga series in the future.
This was a very sad one shot that was well written and illustrated. I have become a fan of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu, they obviously work well together.
A little boy, the haunted apartment next door, and a photographer? What will come of it in the end? Well I’ll tell you. A beautiful butterfly will.
This story is simply beautiful for it being such a short one shot. It got to the point while also giving us enough time for suspense to brew and our emotions to form for the characters. I really enjoyed this.
Fun one-shot with an interesting concept, some pretty great art that definitely creeped me out, and a heartfelt ending that tied everything together nicely.
A quick read. I found some of the scene and "act" transitions humorous. The photographer is creepy for most of the book, but this story ends really nicely.
Did not know that a single chapter could hurt so much. Thought that this would end up cliche, but wound up enjoying this. The art is great, and the story was interesting as well.
