If you get nothing else from this review, it's that if you want to read this series, you really should read the Circe's Recruit's series first. Had I not already read Circe's Recruits, I'd have given this book 2 stars, because I would have been 1. confused; and 2. royally peeved about the whole uncontrollable lust and misogyny present. The author really should have done a better job of spending time spelling out the whole "Circ" thing, which she does in the original series ("Circe's Recruits".)
I'll be honest here in that I probably still would have given this book fewer stars if I hadn't gone ahead and read the rest of the Dawn Endeavor series. I really like all of Marie Harte's stuff, including both Circe's Recruits and the PowerUP! series, so I decided to not judge this series based on the first book. I'm glad I didn't, because the series got better after this one. This first book seemed really rushed, and there wasn't enough character development, in my opinion. While all of these books have tons of sex (m/f, m/m, mmf, mmm, mmmm...seriously lots of sex in lots of ways) Fallon's Flame goes over the top with it, while not giving us a lot in the way of emotional involvement with the main characters. It's fairly disappointing because Fallon seems like a neat character.
If you read Circe's Recruit's and liked that series, I still recommend going ahead and reading this, because while the first book isn't great, the rest of the series gets better.
