Setting and maintaining a goal of reading through the Bible in a year can be tough in the busyness of everyday life. The ESV Every Day Bible was designed from the ground up to be an inviting daily-reading Bible, to help readers achieve their goal of reading through the Bible in a year. Each daily reading presents a passage from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs in an attractive double-column typesetting printed on high-quality Bible paper. The combination of a thoughtful reading plan, beautiful layout, and affordable cost make this Bible a perfect choice for those looking to savor their reading of the Bible over the course of a year.
Books can be attributed to "Anonymous" for several reasons:
* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
Second read-through: There's no more precious book than this, and this edition makes reading through Scripture in a year easily doable!
This is great tool for reading along with your kids. We all read individually every morning, then at breakfast shared questions or what we thought God was teaching us. One child was asked to narrate everything we read, which has helped her grow in attention and maturity throughout the year.
***** First read-through: You don't review this book's content; it reviews you! But 5 stars for the formatting and division of Scripture into days. It was the easiest and most accessible Bible-in-a-year plan I've ever done. I loved having each day's passages laid out rather than following a worksheet with check boxes and four different bookmarks in different sections of the Bible! Even when I got behind, the readings were paced so that it was never too difficult to catch up.
My 7yo and 8yo were able to complete each reading, no problem, and we all talked about what God had shown us (or asked/answered questions about the reading) at the breakfast table. Really fruitful discussions, and by all of us reading the same stuff at the same time, Cap and I were more primed to anticipate their questions, and the girls (hopefully) were able to glean a little more of how the adult believers in their life interact with Scripture.
It is so, so good to get the whole counsel of Scripture: to be surprised and delighted with books you don't often visit. Many times the readings intersected in ways that highlighted themes and enriched understanding. I ended up a little sad as I finished today, and this Bible will be treasured and saved for next time I read the Bible in a year--which won't be far off, with my appetite effectively whetted!
This was the most pleasurable Bible in a year plan I’ve done. The only downside was not having catch up days. It’s so nice simply opening the Bible and not flipping to what I’m going to read. It’s all formatted right in front of you with the date up top. Thank you, Nick Gardner for the gift!
All I took away from this yearlong trek is that the true reason Sodom was destroyed is because her people were rich and refused to take care of the poor and needy.
