On the off chance that anyone will read this: this book is one of a kind. It's rare that one stumbles across a book this well researched.

To give you an idea of how precise this book is: in my photograph collection I have a photo of an officer overlooking the ruins of Sparta, with a date. By location and date, the 177. Jäger-Division was the only obvious ID suggestion. This book in hand, all I needed to do was go for to the page listing this date--once there, I found that the unit at that date was only a few miles away from that location, and photographs of a certain officer let me ID with (pretty certain accuracy) the man in the photograph. The photo took on a life of its own--I could go back in time, forward in time, Meyer's chronology has my seal of approval for accuracy.

Once I tacked down the person in the photo, I couldn't stop; you generally can't find any information on this notorious unit elsewhere (or maybe just not in English) and this book makes heavy history so interesting.
