This is book four in the Cowboy Lawman series but I read it as a stand-alone just fine. I found it creative and a different kind of second chance romance. It is energetic and fast paced drawing you into a world of who done it. I just wanted to take that baby and protect it from harm. Lots of suspense with a little romance to lighten it up. I definitely enjoyed this one and I knew from the cover that teddy bear would play an important part of the story.
I won a copy of this book from a blog. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

I absolutely loved this book! Here I thought this series couldn't get any more nail biting or suspenseful than the last ones in the series and boy was I wrong. Kellyanne and Zeke's story is full of action packed, heart racing moments. Great story! Highly recommend. Great job Virginia!

This is the fourth book in the Cowboy Lawman series, but I had no trouble enjoying it as a standalone. I found it to be a unique take on the second-chance romance theme, with plenty of energy and a fast-paced plot that pulls you into a thrilling "who-done-it" mystery. The suspense kept me hooked, and I couldn't help but want to protect the baby at the heart of the story. There's just the right amount of romance to balance the tension, making it an enjoyable read.

I loved the way the cover hinted at the teddy bear playing an important role in the plot! The backstory between Zeke and Kelly Anne—two people haunted by their pasts and seeking closure—was compelling. Their love story, a beautiful mix of unresolved feelings and personal growth, was deeply touching. What really stood out to me was how the characters are not perfect, but rather, they're striving to realign their lives with God's plan. The suspense had me guessing at every turn, and the story reminded me that things are often more complicated than they first appear.

Overall, this was a sweet and satisfying read that seamlessly blends suspense, romance, faith, and a second chance at love.

A young mother is found murdered and her friend, social worker KellyAnne Avery, finds herself involved in caring for the young woman's four-month-old baby. Sounds normal, until you discover that someone is trying to find this baby and it may not be out of love and concern. Texas Baby Cover-Up is the newest addition to the Cowboy Lawmen series and Virginia Vaughan once again proves her ability to keep us on the edge of our seats! As KellyAnne struggles to keep baby Brady safe, she is aided by her former boyfriend, Deputy Sheriff Zeke Tyler, but this association only increases her stress. She has a secret that could alter both of their lives forever!

Vaughan's characters are great, but I was often aggravated with KellyAnne. Yes, she wants the best for Brady, but she often acts without thinking, and she's quick to revolt against her family's protective natures. Zeke is an absolute joy! He loves KellyAnne, he is fueled by Christian faith, and he's determined to protect her and baby Brady. But what will happen when he learns what KellyAnne has been keeping from him?

This is an exciting story that kept me guessing, and I was surprised to learn who was truly behind the murder and mayhem. I also loved catching up with other members of the Avery family that I'd met in the previous books. I truly enjoyed Texas Baby Cover-Up and I recommend it to all who enjoy Christian romantic suspense.

I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no expectation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

I disliked Kellyanne since Texas Holiday Hideout. After Miles explained the importance of protecting Melissa and calling Melissa, family in front of the criminal, she blurted out that Melissa was a witness.

Kellyanne was tedious and immature. Her secret miscarriage was needlessly, repetitive.

Zeke deserved better than Kellyanne.

Her idiocy regarding the flash drive had me rolling my eyes. They didn't make a copy of the flash drive? She ran off to meet the kidnappers without telling anyone?! She handed over the real drive so it could be destroyed?!

‘Coincidences happened but when murder was involved, nothing was above suspicion. ‘

Virginia Vaughan adds to her series with this fast paced suspense book. Seeing her friend has been murdered, Kellyanne finds herself guardian of a four month old boy and her ex boyfriend has just walked back into her life. And all of a sudden, someone wants both her and the baby dead. So now she must trust Zeke and her lawmen brothers to keep them safe.

Action packed and populated with fine characters, Vaughan once again proves she is a dab hand at inspirational suspense. Well done.

My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is entirely my own.

Honestly a pretty solid book until the end. Ughhh I hate to say it but I was really enjoying this book until Zeke finds out that Kellyanne had a miscarriage. Who in the world does this man think he is?? He has so much entitlement over the fact that he was the father, I’m sorry (no I’m not) but WHO CARES!! You didn’t lose a child that was growing inside of you! You don’t know how much time (no time is really enough I’m sure) it takes for a mother to heal from that loss. I understand being upset she didn’t tell him but he took it to a whole new level and I was honestly mad. I’m only giving the book three stars because I genuinely did enjoy it up until that point. Could have been a five star even. The suspense is actually really good in this book unlike a lot of these love inspired suspense books. Not sure if I’ll read more of the cowboy lawmen books. Stupid cowboys 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Love these books. From the minute you start reading til the very end you are immersed in her great story telling. You begin to feel like you are there and taking part in the story itself.

Zeke shows up at Kellyanne's home to give her back a necklace that she lost. He is going to break it off with her. They have not seen each other for a while now. He thought they had a good thing going but she left him. She comes back when she needs him.

Now Zeke has come back into her life and she needs him now more than ever. Someone killed her best friend that lived next door to her and is after her friend's baby, Brady. Zeke needs to keep her and the baby safe.

Check out the book. Can't wait for another book by Virginia Vaughan. They just get better and better

Thank you in advance to the author, Virginia Vaughan, for providing a complimentary review copy through her launch team. A positive review was not required or requested, all words are my own.

This is the fourth (4th) book in the Cowboy Lawman series and features the younger sister – Kellyanne.

While this could function as a standalone read, it would be better to read the first three books in the series to meet all of the characters (so far). It isn’t required though.

Since I am already a fan this series (and the author), I was already looking forward to this book as soon as I saw the cover reveal back in February. While online the book can look spooky and intense, the physical copy looks even more so. And, it definitely fit the tone of the novel.

Brothers Miles, Colby, and Josh return for this installment. Lawson is mentioned as well. There were times I really didn’t Kellyanne. I found her obsession on being independent a bit annoying. While I understood it, it was annoying.

There was a “trigger” moment that I felt was heartbreaking, yet at times, annoying – Kellyanne’s ideas about her miscarriage making her an unfit mother was tragic, and my heart went out to her. I don’t want to seem unsympathetic, but at times I felt she read far too much into it. I do believe she should’ve talked to someone about it since it was really preying on her. Even, if she only told her mom about it.

There is still no mention of Bree’s twin Ashlee from the first book, Texas Twin Abduction. I would really like to find out what happened to or happens to her since she is Bree’s twin and Lawson’s sister-in-law.

Anyway …

As with the three previous books, Vaughan crafts a story that is right off intense. Right off, this grabbed my attention, and didn’t really let go.

Vaughan really engaged me as a reader and didn’t let up in this intense, exciting, and non-stop read.

This book barely gets started before there’s a murder. Kellyanne’s friend Lisa is murdered, leaving behind a cute baby boy – Brady in Kellyanne’s care. That brings Kellyanne and Zeke together, and there is a HISTORY between the two. Zeke is her first, only, and off/on again love. Though, more off than on.

It’s clear that Lisa’s argument with a guy the night before is a major issue in her murder and it appears it is about Brady.

However, the killer isn’t stopping there – an abduction attempt on Kellyanne and Brady is made in a grocery store. And, Kellyanne gets away. Another attempt to get at Brady is made at the baby’s daycare, only it is under the ruse of being the baby’s father – the mother didn’t list a father.

That isn’t the only surprise – Lisa left behind papers for Kellyanne and evidence. And, that isn’t all – Kellyanne is trying to tell Zeke something important. But, that gets placed on hold.

After more threats, it becomes clear that Kellyanne would be safer at home. It isn’t something she wants to do, but something she needs to do. And, when she arrives home she learns that Zeke has turned to God, where she cannot stand someone in control of her life or future; and definitely not to make decisions for her without her input.
She isn’t in Courtland long until not only does her family start trying to make decisions to keep her safe (isn’t that way she was there), but who ever tried to grab her – is there in Courtland. It’s evidenced when she takes Brady to the hospital and there is yet another abduction attempt.

I’ll say this – the action doesn’t stop and neither does this person who is very determined. But, it very clear whoever is behind this has some serious money to pull this off – but who?

After a fire, attempted kidnapping, and assault on her mother, it is clear that Kellyanne can no longer stay at the ranch. But, it is when an innocent toy is damaged that the truth comes to light regarding Brady’s father.

And, it is as they figured – someone with money wants Brady out of the way.

While Zeke is helping protect Kellyanne and Brady, he too is grappling with his own past and wondering if that isn’t fueling Kellyanne’s feelings.

Both of them make startling confessions that will end up changing how they feel about each other.

Vaughan draws the riveting suspense out to nearly the end with a few twists I didn’t see coming. And, there were people I was honestly wrong about.

I did have to laugh about her brothers getting someone to confess to something on camera.

The ending was beautiful and didn’t as much of a surprise given that this is a romance book, albeit with a romantic suspense twist. And, overall, I REALLY enjoyed it.

One beautiful lesson from this book – God doesn’t want to control us, but to protect us. And, it is very apparent that he sends people to us (like her brothers) to work on his behalf. Kellyanne, like some of us, learn that when we don’t trust him and try to do things on our own – we end up making mistakes.

Fans of the genre, the author, as well as those who’ve read the previous three books will definitely want to get this one! I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

This is distributed by Harlequin’s Love Inspired line so there will be references to God and faith with a few prayers. These are not overly “preachy”, nor an essential component to the story.

TEXAS BABY COVER-UP by Virginia Vaughan
A mother’s secret got her killed.
Now they must protect her baby…
After the shock of finding her best friend murdered, Kellyanne Avery’s focused on caring for her friend’s sweet baby—until the killer returns, determined to kidnap the child. Now Kellyanne needs the one man she trusts with her life: her ex-flame, Deputy Sheriff Zeke Tyler. But as they hide on her family’s ranch, can Zeke unravel deadly secrets and shield them from harm?
This is Kellyanne Avery and Zeke Tyler's story.
Kellyanne Avery pulled into her parking space at the apartment complex, disappointed to see her friend’s car missing from its spot. She frowned. Lisa wasn’t answering her phone, which wasn’t like her, and she’d failed to pick up her four-month-old son, Brady, from day care. They’d had Kellyanne’s number on file for emergencies, but this was the first time they’d had to use it.
Kellyanne glanced up at the window to Lisa’s apartment where a light shone. She had to be home. But where was her car, and why hadn’t she picked up Brady? Kellyanne had just gotten out of the car and opened the back door to retrieve Brady from his car seat when she spotted movement in the darkness and the outline of a man approaching her. Instead of unbuckling Brady, she reached inside her purse for the can of pepper spray she kept there. She was a single woman living alone in Austin, Texas, plus her job as a social worker meant she often went into the worst areas of town. With a father and five brothers in law enforcement, she knew how to protect herself, but that didn’t stop her pulse from pounding in her ears as she backed out of the car. As he grew nearer, she raised the can and spun around to face him.
“Whoa, Kellyanne, it’s me. It’s Zeke.”
As the man stepped into the light, she spotted the familiar handsome features of her old flame, Zeke Tyler.
She almost hadn’t recognized him without his cowboy hat, but she could never forget that Texas drawl.
He’d filled out since the last time she’d seen him, but the kindness in his easy smile and the gentleness of his soft green eyes remained, even as they widened in surprise.
I recommend reading.
TEXAS BABY COVER-UP by Virginia Vaughan is a wonderful well written 5 star book.

Texas Baby Cover-Up
Cowboy Lawmen #4
By Virginia Vaughan

Kellyanne Avery's life is about to be upended when her friend Lisa is murdered. The upending occurs when Kelly discovers that Lisa has named her as Brady's guardian. She knows that she will never be the mother that he needs no matter how much she has grown to love him. But someone has decided that Kelly and Brady are a threat and must be gotten rid of.

With her off-again, on-again ex the only thing keeping her safe Kelly finds herself returning home. She never wanted to find herself in the position of needing her family or Zeke Tyler, but to keep Brady safe she will do almost anything. It is hard to change a lifetime of stubborn independence but to stay alive Kellyanne just might need to learn to do so and fast.

This is the fourth book in the Cowboy Lawmen series and it can easily be read as a standalone book if you have not yet had time to be introduced to the Avery family. But you may want to make room in your schedule to check out the first three books later after reading the Texas Baby Cover-Up.

Zeke never wanted to leave Courtland but Kellyanne couldn't wait to leave and get out from under her brothers' overbearing protection. But sometimes we need to go home to discover what it is we truly want.

If you want suspense that won't keep you awake from overly graphic scenes you will thoroughly enjoy this latest offering from Virginia Vaughan. There is no lack of action or drama but nothing unbelievably over the top. This is an excellent escape book for those hot summer days and evenings that are here.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Texas Baby Cover-Up. This is book four in the series, Cowboy Lawmen. I'm one of Virginia's biggest fans so I'm always thrilled to get one of her books. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of drama. I know you are going to love it.

Social worker Kellyanne Avery pulls up to her friend's apartment. She's disappointed to see her friend's car isn't there. Lisa wasn't answering her phone and she had failed to pick up her baby boy from the daycare. Kellyanne was their emergency number. Zeke, her ex, scared her as she was pulling the baby out of his car seat. They went up to her friend's apartment to take the baby home. They found the apartment ransacked and her friend's dead body.

Deputy Sheriff Zeke Tyler was shocked to see her with a baby. His first thought was that he was his but she assured him it wasn't. When they found the dead body, Zeke is determined to keep her and the baby safe. He takes them to her family's ranch. Someone is determined to kidnap the baby and kill anyone in his way.

A journey of survival and a trip into the past. Can Kellyanne keep her secret? Can Zeke keep them safe without losing his heart again? God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life even in this time of chaos.

Danger is nipping at their heals from start to finish! With book four in her always intense Cowboy Lawmen series Virginia Vaughan brings a fast paced, action packed gem to her readers. In TEXAS BABY COVER-UP we follow the journey of a social worker who finds her best friend murdered and has to count on her ex to help her protect the infant baby left behind. The characters are well developed, their back story is attention grabbing and the love still burning between them is quick to reignite.

Kellyanne is headstrong and determined to live her life the way she wants to live it, but being so blinded to how good a partnership could be led to her losing Zeke.

Zeke is a sweetheart who was willing to put up with a lot from Kelly just to have her in his life. Now she's back again and this time he's determined to show her how good life can really be ... as long as he can keep the danger at bay for long enough!

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who likes a faith based romance that brings danger and suspense to the forefront while love and faith serve as a strong back drop towards forever.

I LOVE stories that have me engaged from the first page and this one does not disappoint! I really love this author’s style! The storyline is great and the author kept me guessing. I did not want to put this book down so I read it in one sitting. There were even times I found myself talking to the characters as I read which meant I really got involved in the storyline.

Although the heroine has appeared in previous stories in this series, I really got a chance to see her up close. In addition, the author crafted a story in which both heroine and hero struggled with the same issue but for different reasons. I have to add that their struggles were relatable and that gave the story an added boost for me.

While I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the author via BookFunnel, the thoughts and opinions in this review are totally my own. Furthermore, although this may be read as a standalone, it is part of an enjoyable series. So, I definitely recommend reading the previous books in the series as they are also great reads and provide a fuller picture of some of the other characters.

Author Virginia Vaughan knocks it out of the water with this fast-paced suspense novel. Action and suspense are always intriguing but add the threat of a baby’s life and there’s no putting the book down until the danger subsides.
Social worker Kellyanne Avery finds herself taking care of her friend’s four-month-old son after receiving a call from the daycare that her friend hadn’t picked her baby up. Kellyanne’s possession of the baby puts her and the child in the crosshairs of those who are after them.
Deputy Sheriff Zeke Tyler arrives in town for a conference and looks for his old girlfriend, Kellyanne. Still carrying a flame for her, Zeke stops at her apartment to return a necklace she’d lost years ago. Only, when he pulls into the complex, Kellyanne exits her car with a baby.
Zeke walks with Kellyanne to her friend’s apartment, and they discover the body of the baby’s mother. He becomes a target along with Kellyanne and the child by those who are out to eliminate them all.
Texas Baby Cover-up is fast-paced and filled with twists.
I give this novel five stars.

In this Christian, suspense romance, we are back with the Avery siblings and this time the story belongs to Kellyanne. The youngest and only girl who has resented her brothers overprotectiveness. According to her, they stifle , and the reason she now works as a social worker in a different town.
Sheriff Zeke Tyler has had an on-again, off-again relationship with Kellyanne. A woman he has always loved but keeping him a secret from her family, he believes she’s ashamed of him. He’s come to see her to finish with the relationship so he can move on.
But when she is left as guardian to a little boy, and someone wants to kill them, he becomes her bodyguard.
In the midst of the danger, it’s evident that feelings are very much alive, but Kellyanne is keeping a secret from Zeke and is filled with insecurities. Can she open her heart to God and find a way to also open herself to Zeke?
From the start, the plot is engaging and the characters perfect with their imperfections.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This was sooooo good!! Kellyanne has loved Zeke for years, and Zeke has loved her. However, Kellyanne wanted away from her family, and especially her older brothers. She didn't know Zeke loved her as much (really more!) than she loved him. She always left him with a broken heart. Zeke thought Kellyanne didn't want anyone to know about their relationship because he wasn't good enough for her. He's finally decided it's time to move on from her, so, when he's in Austin for a convention, he decides to see her one last time. When he meets her again, all of the old feelings are still there, and when it becomes clear her life is in danger, Zeke knows he can't live her by herself to take care of Brady, her friend's baby. Will this situation help Kellyanne to finally grow up, realize how selfish she's been, and finally accept the truth about how much she needs to give God control of her life, and that she needs to quit pushing Zeke away?

Someone is out to kidnap-or kill-an innocent baby, after first murdering his mother. Who would want to kill a baby? And why? That is what Kellyanne must find out, and fast. Her friend deserved justice and her son needed protection. Her X-flame, Deputy Zeke Tyler, is in town for the Law Enforcement Expo. He stopped by just in time, she is going to need his help to find the killer. But, will she have the chance to tell him her secret before he figures it out?

"...Lisa had told Kellyanne her argument had something to do with Brady's father, and now her friend was dead. Was he trying to get his hands on the child now that Lisa was dead? Or get to Kellyanne because she's seen his face and could testify about the argument?"

Follow Kellyanne and Zeke through suspenseful twists and turns as they work together to find out the truth and bring a killer to justice.

Highly recommend!

The saga continues with the Avery family in this newest release by Virginia Vaughan. Another well written Christian suspense mystery that pulls the reader in from the first page. Again, great character development keeps the story moving at an increased pace from one chapter to the next. This also has a high school romance that is rekindled as a sweet, clean romance as Kellyanne struggles with returning to her hometown where she has her parents and five older brothers. Who, incidentally, are all in some type of law enforcement - now she can add in Zeke her high school sweetheart!

I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest, and completely personal review.

I have really enjoyed all the suspense in the Cowboy Lawmen series. Texas Baby Cover-up by Virginia Vaughan is the fourth book in the series. Once again, I couldn't put it down. Kellyanne's best friend was murdered and now Kellyanne must take care of her best friend's baby, at least until she finds him a home. Kellyanne feels very inadequate in her role as a mother because of a previous miscarriage. Deputy Zeke, an old flame, must protect Kellyanne and the baby from the killer that is still on the loose. This book keeps you guessing until the end on what the outcome will be for the baby and for Kellyanne and Zeke. I highly recommend this book and the series!

I am voluntarily reviewing this story for the author. This is my very, very HONEST opinion.
I loved the story line and Zeke and Brady were my favorites but I really didn't like Kellyanne 😐. The way she handled all her problems, (run away) and the way she treated Zeke (he's mine but only when I actually want him) just bothered me something fierce. 😤
The action was intense and I did get kind of nervous a couple of times wondering if it would all be okay. 😊 I liked that a lot. Kept me on my toes. 😉
Anxious for the next Avery story (I hope its Josh's story). ☺ That is the sign of a Great author if you leave your readers wanting the next book as soon as they close the back cover. 😁

This is the next story in the Cowboy Lawmen series. This is Kellyanne and Zeke's story. The story deals with death, miscarriage, feeling of inadequacy. Kellyanne and Zeke had a previous relationship. He's in town to return something from years ago and put closure to that part of his life. She's moved to Dallas to get away from family and be her own person. When her friend is murdered and she's left to take care of the friends baby everything changes. Someone comes after Kellyanne and the baby, Zeke vows to keep them both safe. But, that may prove harder than he thought. Could it lead to a new beginning for all of them? Read Texas Baby Cover-Up and find out

Book 4 in this series doesn’t disappoint. It’s full of mystery and intrigue. Kellyanne’s friend is murdered and she’s taking care of her friends baby until a reliable family can be found. Zeke, Kellyanne’s old flame is in town for a police conference and gets involved. For reasons unknown to them, someone is targeting the baby and Kellyanne. I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense.

If you're looking for heart-stopping clean romantic suspense, Texas Baby Cover-Up is the book for you. Zeke and Kellyanne have a harrowing road to travel for that second-chance romance to succeed.

Lots of suspense in this great book. Kellyanne made some bad choices but she was still a strong character. I love seeing her heart soften towards baby Brady, and how protective she was of him. Zeke Tyler was a strong likeable character in spite of his traumatic past. These two characters worked together toward a common goal, in spite of their differences. The surprise plot twist at the end made me sit up and say, wow! Loved the book, will be looking for more by this author.

You have Kelleyann talking & acting like a complete idiot. This is supposed to be an adult, yet she is worried that her love interest won't love her because she didn't tell him she was pregnant or had miscarriaged. You say that she needs to tell him that he was a father. He wasn't. She lost the baby. You can't be a father to a child that isn't born.

The book was good and it had some really suspenseful moments but I did not care for Kellyanne’s character. Throughout the book I was reading the same complaints come from her and it got very tiring. I did enjoy Zeke and the baby Brady and I enjoyed reading about the brothers again from previous books. A Christian and clean book.

Texas Baby Cover-Up (Cowboy Lawmen Book 4) by Virginia Vaughan is a fantastic story that I have loved reading. This is book number four in this fantastic series that I was so hooked on. I highly recommend this story to everyone.
