Ivy Lam’s life is at a crossroads. She’s just broken up with her long-term boyfriend, who strung her along with promises of settling down together for 8 years before admitting it wasn’t going to happen. She’s also making a change in her career (having moved to be near said ex), and calls up an old boss looking for connections. Because they developed a warm relationship while working together, said boss invites her to his engagement party, where rumors abound that a real-life billionaire is in attendance!

Ivy could care less, really, as she’s there for professional reasons, but she and said billionaire, Tsai Jun Li, meet by chance and decide to spend the afternoon (and the night) together. Both are clear what they’re getting into: one night, no strings, rebound situation.

Four months go by and Ivy learns that she is pregnant. Since she’s been so busy trying to get her career (and life) on track, she hasn’t had much time for dating, so the last person she slept with – Jun LI – is the father. Having been burned in romantic relationships before, she fully anticipates that he will be Not Be Happy about this. What she doesn’t anticipate is him being so impossible to contact that she basically has to crash a party just to get five minutes of his time. All she wants to do is tell him that she’s pregnant, that she’s keeping the baby, and that she plans to raise it herself. She doesn’t want anything from him – except medical history.

Jun Li is skeptical, for many reasons. As a billionaire businessman, this is not the first time a woman has tried to claim that she’s carrying his baby in order to trap him into a commitment of some sort. He also had a pregnancy scare as a teen, and went to great lengths to ensure it would never be possible to sire a child. Ivy already knows he’s going to ask for tests to prove his paternity, which he does. He accepts that her news is true with relative calm, and because he is a Fixer, he moves right on ahead making plans for how to now accommodate her and his future child into his life. Because he is from a traditional family, he wants to marry Ivy to ensure the health and safety of her and her baby. He sees no issue with an arranged marriage, but Ivy – as a second generation Canadian born to immigrant parents – wants to marry not for security, but for love. As much as she understands Jun LI’s POV, she doesn’t want to feel like she’s obligating yet another man to marry her when he doesn’t want to, for her.

This is sort of a fractured fairy tale. What woman doesn’t fantasize about being swept off her feet by a handsome man with endless amounts of money, who can provide a life of luxury? But fantasy is quite different from reality, and these two are far apart on their views of marriage. They have explosive sexual chemistry, though, which complicates matters. I really enjoyed the push-pull of these characters as they work through their emotional entanglement and the reality (such as it is in HP) of combining lives that are so different from each other.

I also really enjoyed the development of Jun Li and the arc of his storyline. I can list on one hand the number of novels I’ve read with a hero who admits to, explores, and treats his depression. It takes him a long time to open up to the heroine, but he eventually does – and her own insecurities about her past fuck-ups make her very empathetic to him. As much as she wants to hear that he’s fallen in love with her (as she has with him), she doesn’t force the issue, or act jealous or stupid. She’s trying to cope with her own ever-changing reality, and it is a bumpy road indeed that she’s on, trying to come to terms with extreme material wealth.

The only reason I can’t give this 5 stars is because one little loose end that bothers me a lot. Ivy struggles with finding her own place in the world, and yet she allows herself to be swept up in this chaos basically by hand-waving away her previous desire for independence because she discovers that her home is wherever her husband is. She’s left her job, her family, her country to be with this man, basically a stranger, and that was a little hard for me to swallow, even if some of her agency is returned in the epilogue.

I loved these characters, however, and the intensity of the emotional and sexual charge they share. HPs are known for lots of handwaving, so I get it. I’m definitely going to be picking up more of this author’s work, and am very thankful that SuperWendy read and reviewed a previous HP by this author and pointed me in her direction!

Billionaire Tsai Jun Li never wants a child and he made sure that he couldn't father one. Ivy Lam wanted to forget an ex-relationship and had a one-night stand with Jun Li but there was a consequence to her behavior. The attraction between these two is sizzling hot but they both need to heal from their pasts and deal with their upcoming parenthood.

Dani Collins knows how to put sizzle and emotion in a story and this one is so good, I loved both the hero and heroine Jun Li and Ivy, both showed vulnerability but both are very strong and caring and they deserved their beautiful HEA.

Ivy Lam has returned to Vancouver looking for a new job after a break-up with her ex, looking for love is not something that is on Ivy’s mind, when a friend introduces her to billionaire Jun Li she is attracted instantly and maybe a one night stand will eliminate the ex and she can look to the future but with consequences the future maybe nothing like she expected.

Jun Li is a busy man with lots of responsibility he travels a lot and having a wife and family is not on his cards, but at a friend’s engagement party he meets the beautiful Ivy, she is fun and easy to be with and one night with her is more than he expected but that is all it can be even if he thinks about her all the time, but when she arrives back to see him with a bombshell his world is about to be turned upside down.

They had a bit of an uphill battle to get to their HEA, Ivy was happy to be a single mother and didn’t expect Jun Li to whisk her away and marry her she always wanted to marry for love, As they get to know each other better love is growing even if it takes Jun Li a while to realise it, this is a beautiful story with emotion and a sensual romance that had me turning the pages and it is one that I highly recommend.

Ivy Lam never in her life would even think what a change would occur to her life just by going to a friend's engagement party. Across the room she sees Tsai Jun Li and tries to ignore the feeling she gets just seeing him. After her last relationship she is not going to even think about a man. Sounds like a plan but when she decides to leave she is offered a ride from Jun Li. Questioning herself about getting in the car she finds she cannot refuse. Denial about forming a relationship falls to the waistside when the drive ends with them both in bed. 4 months later she is in Singapore trying to confront Jun Li to inform him that he is going to be a father. Herein lies the problem, she is informed that it can not be as he had a vasectomy many years before. Do I have you interested? I cannot tell more as it will give too much away of this fantastic story. You will find yourself in love with this super wealthy man who thinks he cannot love anyone but shows it in deed instead.
Awesome story wonderful hero and love all the inclusion of family of both. If you don't read this book your missing a wonderful story. Ms. Collins includes a fantastic Epilogue to add icing to the cake. would give it more than 5 stars if i could.

First off, let me start by stating that it's been a very long time since I've read a Harlequin Romance novel, and for a few reasons, I know why it' s been so long. They are, to a certain point, formulaic books, meaning that that the basic overall premise of these books is pretty much the same: woman is in love (or eventually falls in love with) a man who has some sort of conflict or issue going on in his life. There's something major that initially draws them together (serious illness, outside family issue, or, in the case in this book, pregnancy ). All that being said, this was not a bad book, it had some well written, well handled issues in it. Ivy,at the very start of the book is pregnant and the father of her child is a very wealthy business tycoon, Tsai Jun Li. He is very unreachable at first, Ivy has to use a few connections just to be able to talk to him and let him know she's pregnant and he is the father. They were together that one night that the baby was conceived because of their mutual friend, who had a party they both attended. Jun Li, especially at first, struck me as a control freak, but he got better about that as the story went on, you get to know him, and his flaws are made apparent. Ivy ends up with preeclampsia, which is a very serious issue some mothers develop, and she is on bed rest, and as the pregnancy goes on, it becomes critical, she has a seizure, and they had to induce labor and deliver the baby a few weeks early. Ivy and their baby boy are fine in the end, of course. I did enjoy the bit of a different culture thrown in here, it made it a bit different, and I really admired how the author, Dani Collins, had her characters be so open and honest with each other, especially in this crazy world we are living in now, it was a pleasant change. I recommend this book if you are needing a light easy, read, or a palate cleanser between some heavier read books m which was the case for me.

Major Plot spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk

ONCE AGAIN MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS AHEAD, THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING.

This was an interesting one for me. Even though I did like the story and thought it was very quick paced and easy to get through, but there was a lack of angst and longing that I usually come to associate with Dani Collins books. It was just missing piece of her usual flair especially on the emotional front.

There were definitely emotional topics that were touched upon that had never been explored in a Presents like Jun Li’s depression, but I think it could have gone a bit further and pushed the boundary a little more. I wanted to see those topics explored a little bit more. I wanted Ivy to see for herself firsthand the struggles that he went through during those dark moments and helping him through that. I appreciated it was in here and that he did talk to her about it, but I wanted to see more of his vulnerability displayed before Ivy in order strengthen the bond and love between them.

I did really like the descriptions of the setting in the book especially of Jun Li’s home. It felt very exotic. It displayed a lot of Asian culture. I liked the description of the wedding ceremony with all those different costume changes in an elegant ceremony. I was immersed in the culture and world that I want to explore more in my future reading.

Even though Ivy and Jun Li did have a connection as well as passionate interludes throughout the story, I didn’t quite feel the passion and sparks between them as I have with Dani Collins couples that I have read in the past. There were just things missing that made me not quite believe their undying love for one another. It just felt they had a one night stand, she got pregnant, then they fell madly in love with one another, and that was it. Yes, they had intimate conversations and sweet moments between them, showing the level of caring that they had for one another, but I felt like the pregnancy part of the story kind of took over of the story in lieu of the romance. I just wanted more romance.

They did have some great sexy times. That were moments they connected the most and were the most intimate. I did find it was different that their one night together wasn’t shown in a typical way, but instead shown through sexy dream that Ivy was having of Jun Li. I appreciated that especially since I’m not the biggest fan of the one night stand trope. It was very steamy, steamy between them especially the wedding night scene. I did enjoy those moments because it really shown where their connection shone.

I really liked the character of Jun Li. He wasn’t the typical alpha hero that have been featured in Presents. He was pretty tame compared to some heroes that I have read. He had gone through a lot. I liked that his mental health was explored. I liked when his caring side was shown. He did do a lot for Ivy to show that did care about her and that he wanted to make things comfortable for her. He was just a good guy.

Overall, I did like the story. I have liked other Dani Collins stories I have read in the past more. I think it could have pushed the envelop on the emotional stakes in this one. I think there was just a lot of focus on the pregnancy and less about the relationship between Jun Li and Ivy. I wanted more of the romance. I wanted more angst. I wanted more longing. Something more to give it that edge that would have made me fall in love with the story and romance more. I just wanted a bit more than I got from it.

Her Impossible Baby Bombshell by Dani Collins was fantastic. Just like all her other stories Dani steps outside of the square and looks to develop a solid story with a unique twist on the standard pregnancy troupe.

Jun Li and Ivy Lam are both strong characters and Dani does a great job of portraying Jun Li as the strong, no nonsense, business type that he was. Two unlikely characters share the most unlikely night with the hugely unexpected outcome which causes both of their worlds to collide.

I really enjoyed Her Impossible Baby Bombshell for the tough exterior Jun Li portrayed and for the ride I went along as a reader to see how Ivy could possibly melt this man and how the road to love was built. Throwing in the ultimate curveball of Jun Li’s vasectomy, I was dying to see how that would all turn out.

With stunning locations, the heart of this book is driven from two unlikely partners who have not just themselves to consider any more and it’s beautifully concluded with a great epilogue.

Another stunner by Dani Collins.

This is the first time I’ve read a story featuring two East Asian MCs. I hope this isn’t the last! Dani Colins did an amazing job with this story. There was so much to unpack beyond the “impossible baby” trope (i.e., vasectomy baby). Ivy is a woman trying to rebuild her life after a years long relationship ended and Jun Li is a billionaire with no desire to have deep and personal relationships. He’s not a rake per our usual HP heroes. He’s someone who has a lot on his plate running a global empire and a painful past he’s kept to himself. I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold as they got to know and trust each other. Both characters were honest and open about their wants, needs, and flaws.

4 1/2 STARS!

An unlikely connection sets the pages on fire! HER IMPOSSIBLE BABY BOMBSHELL by Dani Collins brings an unexpected surprise baby story like no other to life with challenging characters and heartfelt revelations. Fast paced and endearing.

Jun Li comes across as your typical broody billionaire at first, but beneath the surface lies a man with deep vulnerability and emotional scars. He was abrupt, but once he warmed up to Ivy, a new man emerged.

Ivy is easy to like and sympathize with, but left a bit of a mystery in parts.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a standoffish connection that ends up being a deep and meaningful happily ever after.

Ivy Lam returns to Vancouver to start a new job, after her breakup. She meets billionaire Jun Le at a friend’s engagement party. Jun thinks Ivy is beautiful and fun. Ivy finds Jun attractive. They end up having a one night of passion. They go on with their lives. Ivy finds out she’s pregnant. She tells Jun that she’s pregnant and he’s the father. He’s surprised because he never wanted children so he took care of that. How is it possible? He travels all the time and he’s never home. He’s a workaholic. Will he accept the child as his? Will he be a good father? I love this story. The characters are so relatable.

HER IMPOSSIBLE BABY BOMBSHELL by author Dani Collins is a May 2021 release by Harlequin Presents.
Jun Li didn’t want any children and he made sure he never had any so when after a passionate night, Ivy Lam told him she’s expecting and he’s the dad, he was astounded. How could it be?

A decent read

This was a good, the characters met at a party and had a one night stand, the h became pregnant. The h was very insecure about herself and the H, everything he said she was hurt. The H was very driven and focused on being perfect, he also suffered from depression. The H was always trying to keep everything together but didn’t take care of himself. The h came off as needy and untrusting. The ending was good.

It was ok on the whole of the plot, but I didn't really like the heroine. I felt she was too over the top in her reactions when she was upset (maybe it was the pregnancy but I didn't like it). Not a fan of inclusion of belt and road initiative reference (I read to escape the real world and didn't like the inclusion). P.

Dani Collins writes a book that lives up to it's title.

This is a great read. The world grows smaller as the characters move between Canada and China. Their affair includes a one night adventure to a HEA.
