Cody Burk’s family was looking for a fresh start after the death of his father. To simplify things, the family sold the Haunted Hallow, the town’s famous commercial haunted house to a new-comer called Roscoe Slater and his family. Unfortunately, things didn’t get better.

Connor Burk and his group of friends have bullied Cody for the last time. Cody and his friends have built the perfect plan to embarrass his brother in front of the entire town of Hawk Hallow on Halloween. When their plan goes awry, Cody retreats to the one place he knows better than anyone, the Haunted Hallow. But he didn’t count on the new owners being a brood of real monsters.

Can Cody and his friends survive the Slater’s murderous modifications to the haunted house or will they fall to the demonic clan?

Author, comic writer, filmmaker, podcaster, wrestler, J.D. Oliva has worn a lot of hats. His books include Hawk Hallow, Harvest Moon and the supernatural thriller series, The Books of Jericho. His comics, including Delgue, Red Sunrise and Shunned have won multiple awards. A co-host of the Superhero Speak podcast series, he's also writes about professional wrestling in his free time.

J.D. lives with his wife and son in DeKalb, Illinois where he runs the Video Infinity production company and coaches high school wrestling. He keeps himself pretty busy.

Another book I got on Kickstarter that I don't regret. To say this one was heavy is an understatement. The human/ teenage drama was strong and felt very realistic and relatable. I sometimes forget how bad some teenage bullies can be and are. All of that was balanced and blended with the supernatural element so well that you had to question who the real monsters were. In regards to the supernatural element, I like that the author did not go with stereotypical supernatural creatures from European and Christian mythology, but from Middle Eastern and Muslim mythology. Makes the supernatural element different, unique, but still very much so a threat. And a threat they very much were. I also enjoyed reading this while it made me think about things, and that's always a plus to me.

Hawk Hallow centres around Cody who has lost his father and is seemingly losing his brother to the town's worst bully. Cody’s mum sells the local haunted house attraction, the Hawk Hallow, that her late husband built to a family from out of town. Little does she know these people are actually immortal beings hell bent of murder and mayhem. When Cody’s troubles and the goings on at the ‘Hallow’ collide things get frantic. This is an entertaining novel that the author explains was to form a comic book series and it’s clear to see how it would have worked. Whilst it may be a shame we never got to see the comic version this novelisation of the story more than makes up for it.

Great novel. Cody and his friends are in their last year of middle school. His brother is older is in high school and hangs out with a gang led by a malicious teen, the sort who tortures little kids and animals. Into town comes a trio of people even more destructive. The groups are fated to meet on Halloween in the Haunted Hallows, a place started by Cody's father. It's supposed to be a maze of horror and fun, but the horror gets to be all too real. If you're a fan of horror novels, this one is not to be missed.

A very strange story. It starts off telling you about people and then it starts to get strange and scary. It grabs you about then and it gets stranger and scarier. It is a good story and it will scary you. I hope that you will like it, I did. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

I just got this book and let me tell u it won't let u down. The first chapter just pulls you in and keeps you there. This book has horror, suspense and is somewhat of a thriller.
All I can say is WOW!!! This book is Awesome.

This reads like a well-intentioned piece of fan fiction, or like something you'd read on Wattpad from a beginning author. It's not bad, but it's not for the seasoned reader. For a younger reader seeking a thrilling October read, it might be just the thing.

Really good story.

A haunted house on Halloween can be fun but this haunt is something else and there are no ghosts just other beings to terrify you.

Not my usual genre of book I like to read, however it did keep my interest up enough that I just had to keep reading to see what would happen next. A bit too creepy and macabre for my tastes but I'm sure fans of this spooky, "evil" genre would enjoy it.
