From the bestselling author of The Devil's Advocate comes this "fast-moving thriller with an up-to-the-minute a secret conspiracy of men" (Publishers Weekly).
Scott Lester's bitter divorce includes accusations of adultery, alcoholism, and more--and they're all true. To keep from losing his five-year-old daughter forever, he turns to the Solomon Organization, a secret society sympathetic to the plight of men in Scott's situation. They are on his side. They will help him. And they don't even want his money--they only want what is best for his little girl.
And what they decide is best is the worst thing Scott Lester can imagine . . .
"A taut tale of horror made more horrible by its very plausibility." --Library Journal
Andrew Neiderman is the author of over 44 thrillers, including six of which have been translated onto film, including the big hit, 'The Devil's Advocate', a story in which he also wrote a libretto for the music-stage adaptation. One of his novels, Tender Loving Care, has been adapted into a CD-Rom interactive movie.
Andrew Neiderman became the ghostwriter for V.C. Andrews following her death in 1986. He was the screenwriter for Rain, a film based on a series of books under Andrews name. Between the novels written under her name and his own, he has published over 100 novels.
Scott and Meg are unhappily married. They have a daughter who is named Justine. Justine is only five years old.
Scott is reckless with his behavior and he gets caught with his pants down. He complains when it looks like he is going to lose custody of his daughter. A stranger comes to his rescue..
Scott blabs all his business. The man tells him about the Solomon Organization. They come to his rescue.
Has the hallmarks of a conspiracy thriller, but never really becomes as scary or as claustrophobic as you'd expect from the genre. The POV jumps between several characters, which also doesn't help to create an ambiance of paranoia.
Ends without a real climactic confrontation with the people responsible for all the torment.
should have been a short story, but maybe it was awesome in its time. It felt like an 80s book, not a 90s book, but I'm fussy like that. Nice story idea, I just think the story took too long to tell.
I did enjoy this novel because it is filled with "edge-of-your-seat" suspense. This novel is also a very exciting read from the first page until the very end.
