The book Luca

We liked that the book was funny when they said stay away for cats, but cats are actually harmless. We disliked that we’re not land monsters, but we would definitely read the book again. We laughed, and had fun. We enjoyed this book.

Thank you!

I loved the art style immediately, which isn't a surprise considering it's from Pixar.
The idea of sea monsters explaining how to live as humans on land is super cute.
I just wish there was more about the lives of those funny sea monsters.

My son Max

I’m glad they got away from the bully. And the Vespa that they built was kinda good. It stayed together pretty well. And I’m glad they got an actual Vespa it doesn’t actually fall apart.

Fun

This cute story that takes place in the world of Luca teaches sea monsters the ins and outs of pretending to be a land monster (human). We get some hints about how to walk and some rules to follow while being safe on land.

My daughter loved this!

An imaginative children’s book. Some of the names were a little strange for young readers.

I loved this movie so much so I wanted to check out some of the picture books my library got about it. I love the illustrations throughout this book, it reminds me a lot of the vibrant art from the movie. The story was ok, some of it followed closely with the movie, while some of it seemed to reference things that happened in the movie. Because of this I almost feel like it’s a weird mix of part of it being fine to have not watched the movie before reading it and the other part seeming like you wouldn’t understand the characters as much if you haven’t watched it yet.

* Cute - Fun Read With Great Illustrations *

I loved the movie and this was a cute recap of it in a unique enough way that is was still entertaining. I read it with my granddaughter, who enjoyed it as much as I did. It is a nice way to spend time together.
What I liked was the illustrations. They really brought the story alive.
There wasn't anything I didn't like, to be honest.
This was a great book for Middle Grade and my 4K student enjoyed having it read to her.
