Australian rugby pro Cole Hauser has had enough of speculations about his future post-injury. So when a football buddy puts his house in America at Cole’s disposal, he jumps at the chance for some peace and anonymity. The plan is perfect—until he discovers he’s roomies with a woman who knows how to wield a nail gun and her kid. Awesome. Not.
Single mom Jane Spencer is supposed to be spending four weeks alone in the wilds of Colorado rehabbing a house that’ll put her business on the map. Instead, her time is overrun by her four-year-old and a grumpy, too-sexy rugby dude whose only goals are to watch ESPN and brood. Awesome. Not.
When, surprisingly, McHottie offers to get his ass off the couch and help Jane out with Finn, she’s hesitant. But before she knows it, Cole is knee-deep in kid activities during the day and they’re both fighting their simmering attraction at night.
Anything between them can only be temporary - their time together is short and Cole lives on the other side of the planet. It should be easy to say goodbye, right? Wrong. It doesn’t take long for them to realize they’ve borrowed a whole lot of trouble.

I just love these single parent books! The way the hero, Cole was with 4 year old Finn just stole my heart. Even if Finn wasn't in this book, Cole would have still stole my heart. Jane was very guarded and independent, and the way Cole navigated those obstacles and even loving her quirks is exactly what I like to see in a hero. This also had some yummy side characters. I'm gonna have to look up previous books to see if some of them are from other series. I would also love to see Arlo get a book. That's one of the things I love is when an author can surround a couple with other characters and get me to want more from those smaller roles. This was a very enjoyable read!
Ex rugby star, Cole Hauser is hiding out in small town USA after suffering a career ending injury. For someone that only had the game his whole life, being sided lined so abruptly has left him in shock. His last ditch effort to at least stay on the peripherals of the game is a commentator job he's waiting on.
Finding out his hideout is already occupied by a sexy single mom and her adorable little boy isn't ideal, but Cole is willing to move past it while he waits for his future to be decided. It also doesn't hurt when Finn's hero worship sooths his bruised ego and his verbal spars with Jane bring on a whole different heat to the forefront.
Suddenly playing house in the small town, with a woman who brings out his best and a little boy that worms his way into his heart, Cole's dream job is looking more like a noose than an opportunity. But can what started off as a short term affair turn into the long haul. Can it become the real deal?
This was such a cute read. I was going to describe it as a light romance read but it's not really light (as in fluffy and sweet) but in the sense that both MCs are confident, good hearted, decent people. It's light in the sense that there is not unnecessary drama or OTT angst.
Its a romance with heart, heat and the sweetest HEA epilogue I've read in a long time. Being a total sucker for sweet OTT romantic gestures and epilogues in romance, Amy Andrews took at all the stops and made me freaking melt during that proposal scene.
Kudos all around for giving us another great romantic read to take our minds off all the other not so light hearted or easy real life stuff happening right now.

A first for me from Amy Andrews, but we all need to start somewhere. I’m so glad I found this author, via Netgally, now I have more great books to read.
This one book I very much enjoyed and am looking forward to reading more, it’s fun and emotional. Adventurous and passionate.
It’s a wonderful book to curl up with and just drift into to a different world . Jane and Cole are great together and little Finn is adorable. I’m even tempted to get a chameleon now.
Excellent reading and great fun.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
What could be nicer than a cute-but-steamy romance between an injured Australian rugby player and a single mother?
Jane specialises in restoring old houses, she has a fantastic job working on restoring a room in a mansion in Credence ready for a prestigious photo shoot. Then her flaky ex gets a gig with his band and returns their four year old son to her, accompanied by a guilt present of a chameleon, as you do. Now Jane has a deadline and a four year old to entertain.
Cole had a horrific car accident which has ended his brilliant rugby career. Unable to cope with the constant scrutiny by fans and the press in Australia he has taken advantage of his friend Cole's offer of a vacation in his mansion in Credence, Colorado.
Cole is no stranger to single mums trying to raise kids single-handedly while holding down a job, heck his mother did it for him, so he finds himself offering to look after Jane's son Finn while she works.
It was only supposed to be a holiday romance, but is Cole really supposed to walk away?
Loved it! Cute moppets, rugby training for toddlers, role-reversals, steamy scenes and touching romance, this really has the lot.
Amy Andrews is one of my favourite authors, she writes funny romances with plenty of heat and all the feels.
I was invited to read this novel by the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
There were times I laughed at loud and times my heart felt heavy but, most of the time I was smiling. Amy Andrews really held my attention with Cole, Jane and Finn and their antics.
I loved the whole premise of this story. From the moment Cole slipped into bed to the moment the pliers were revealed, I was totally engaged in this story. I loved Finn and so enjoyed his unending energy. I looked forward to every performance review. I enjoyed learning about rugby. I prayed for a happy ending. I wasn’t sure how they were going to pull it off but I had faith in Amy Andrews getting us there. There were surprises, laughter, some unbelievably hot sex and the most precocious little boy that I have read in a long time … he was just fun and I loved his whole personality.
Amy Andrews always has a way of making trouble oh so good. Yea, she has a way of pulling you into a story and keeping you there. A little bit of drama … a little bit of laughter … a whole lot of love even though it may take some convincing for some of her characters. She writes characters with grit and determination. They are strong woman … loving, caring, strong men. Stories with a beginning and an end that always leave you with a little tear in your eye and a smile on your face.
Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review 4.5 stars. A great story with amazing characters, including an initially surly but very kind Australian ex-rugby player, a single mom and her delightful four year son. There’s so much to love about “Playing with Trouble”, by Amy Andrews (Entangled: Brazen): the wonderful characters, so relatable, down-to-earth, decent people, the hot and sweet scenes between Cole and Jane, the unique brand of the author’s wit, and the skilled way she gives insight into the characters’ minds and writes the scenes. I was immersed from beginning (and what a beginning, so fun and well written!) to end and it was such a pleasure to read. The enthusiasm, the lust, the sexual tension, the humor and these true to life characters: Cole’s easy connection with Finn, the unpretentious attitude and self-deprecating humor and how he falls head over heels for the fierce, determined heroine. It was the fact the characters changed, evolved and revealed new, unknown facets that made them so interesting. And also they seemed so regular, kind, decent people, you couldn’t not relate to them. Some characters in this crossover book are claiming for their own story – Griffin King, the Sydney Smoke’s coach (we’ve been waiting for too long!), Arlo and the new American player.
Cole Hauser came to Credence, Colorado to lick his wounds after a career-ending injury. The former pro rugby player had just been signed to play under his dream coach for the Sydney Smoke when a car accident changed his whole plan. Now he’s travelled to the other side of the world with no plans other than to rest and recuperate in his friend’s empty home. Only the home isn’t empty. Jane Spencer is a single mother and professional restorer tasked with a project that will put her company on the map. It’s bad enough her ex bailed on his time with their son, now she has to juggle an active four-year-old and a rogue chameleon with intricate, time-consuming work. The last thing she needs is a too-sexy-for-words rugby star distracting her. Except rather than lounge around, Cole offers to help her with daycare. And if watching him with her son isn’t enough to melt her heart, when she and Cole are alone in the evenings other things begin to melt. Jane can’t begin to calculate the number of complications falling for Cole would bring, but sometimes lust and love can’t be denied…
I don’t know how she did it, but in Playing with Trouble Amy Andrews delivered a book that’s both totally adorable and seriously sexy. Cole has physically been through a lot and mentally is still struggling to imagine a life without playing rugby. All he wants to do at the beginning of this book is brood, but Jane and her son, Finn, throw his plans right out the window. The kid wraps Cole around his finger almost immediately and how could you not be charmed by the vibrant little boy (or his escape artist pet chameleon)? Cole and Finn’s bond will absolutely melt your heart. Cole knows what it’s like not to have a father and he and Finn just click from the start. And Jane’s love for her son, her worries, and her absolute determination to make sure he knows he’s loved and cared for are equally heart-melting. Normally I’m a little “meh” on adorable children popping up a lot in romances but in Playing with Trouble it works and is important to the story.
Sweet parts aside, let’s get to the sexy. Jane and Cole have sizzling chemistry that no amount of Jane telling herself she can’t give into temptation will deny. I enjoyed the simmering sexual tension, but when things boil over Playing with Trouble is spicy good fun. Living on opposite sides of the world isn’t the biggest obstacle they face, but I trusted Ms. Andrews to make it all work in the end. Every bump in the road is worth it as Jane and Cole come to know each other and I loved how they just fit as a solid unit.
Playing with Trouble is a standalone novel but it is connected to both Ms. Andrews’s Sydney Smoke Rugby and her Credence, Colorado series. If you haven’t read either, it won’t hamper your story, though admittedly not having read the Credence, Colorado series I’m now eager to dive in because I liked the town and its residents so much. In Playing with Trouble Amy Andrews blends humor, heart, and heat perfectly to deliver an entertaining story that’s worth enjoying again and again.
FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Being woken up by a stranger in her bed, yeah not what Jane expected. And certainly not the welcome Cole expected when his buddy Wade offered up his house when Cole needed a getaway from the months of rehabbing his body after a career-ending accident. But as soon as Cole spies the gorgeous woman bent over the flooring in his getaway home the next morning, he's hooked. Now if only he could get Jane to warm up to him as sweetly as her son Finn immediately does.
Wow, Cole is downright swoony in this sweet, sorta insta-love-ish story. I love the way he immediately connected with Finn, and just what a nice guy he was. Now Jane though...eh, she really got on my nerves with her uptight personality and her refusal to believe Cole when he declared himself. Sigh...but though I don't think she was equal to or good enough for Cole, I liked everything else about Playing With Trouble and can't wait for more from Amy Andrews.
4 Hotness Stars * * * * Spoiler Free-A Quick Review Amy Andrews is a click-click author for me. I always know when I start one of her books, she is going to give me exactly what I am looking for...A guy who is hunky, sexy, and figures out in the end how terrific this woman he is involved with is...
This time it is a single mom, with a really cute kid and a Big Kid Rugby Player all under the same roof. Let the games begin.
I enjoyed this story of a single mother, trying to work on a rehab project while also managing taking care of her son who was supposed to be with his Dad. While juggling all this a man ends up in her bed in the middle of the night.
Cole is recovering from an injury and trying to figure out his next steps. He is staying at a friends house but didn't expect anyone else to be there. He ends up enjoying the company of Jane's son and offers to watch him so she can get some work done.
They both are not looking for a relationship and trying to stay away from each other while also feeling attracted to each other. Their nightly conversations were fun, enjoyable, and full of heat.
I like how Cole's injury/disability was handled, while not the focus it was touched upon throughout the book.
It did have a feel of insta-love spanning over two weeks, but it didn't feel rushed and Cole was willing to wait for Jane to feel comfortable with how they were both feeling.
I received a free copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I knew my heart would be in deep trouble, but had no idea it would fall so fast. With a swoon worthy hero, a pint sized dynamo and an independent firecracker, Playing with Trouble is sure to make an impression. Andrews pulls out all the stops when it comes to holding a captive audience. All heart has a tempting side that rapidly steals the show.
This novel is not of an especially liked genre of mine but the blurb interested me. From page one, though, I was hooked. What a truly beautiful story with such easily loveable characters, it was easy to become attached and invested. Every scene was handled with the touch of reality, a little lust and a lot of knowledge of relationships. I cried at the end!
I knew I was going to really like this one! The way Cole interacts with Finn, despite his brooding is just so heart warming. I also love the small town side characters in this one--Arlo specifically, and how he includes Cole. I appreciate Jane as a strong, female character who has to work to prove herself in a mostly male driven career. It adds some spunk to her that has her overreacting, but it makes for some good banter. And when Cole meet each of her challenges, I just liked him even more. I would definitely recommend this one! Thank you to Grey's Promotions and Amy Andrews for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was fast-paced and caught my attention right away. I haven’t read a lot of books by this author, but I have really enjoyed the few I’ve read. The characters were sincere and so easy to connect with. I loved Finn, Jane’s son, who was just so adorable and sweet. I like how the author was able to show the difference between the languages and kept the dialogue true to each character. Jane Spencer was a single mom of Finn, a four-year-old. She was currently working on restoring a home in Colorado when her ex surprised her by dropping off Finn when he was supposed to have him for several weeks. Trying to juggle her workload and entertaining Finn was difficult and she was barely getting any sleep. So, when a strange man comes into the house and slips into the bed with her, she didn’t wake up. Cole Hauser was a famous rugby player who had been in a car accident a few months ago. He was tired of all the attention his injury was getting and decided to take up the offer from his friend and go to Colorado. He wasn’t expecting to have roommates. He was trying to figure out his future but felt like he could help Jane by watching Finn while he gets himself together. This was a fun romance and had was full of witty comments and humor. I liked how the author managed to merge this book with another series by including some of its characters in this story. It was nice being introduced to them and now I’m looking forward to reading some of the other series. I received an ARC from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The sweetness and adorable goodness of small town romance. The drama and tension of sports romance. The complicated feels and heartache of single parent romance. And the passion, emotions and swoon of all kinds of romance. Amy Andrews really brings best of all the romance worlds in Playing with Trouble.
Cole Hauser has come to small town of Credence all the way from Australia to escape the bitter truth. The truth is the unfortunate accident has ended his career as top rugby player. And he meets Jane and her four year old son Finn. She is working on the restoration process of Cole's friend's home where he is staying. Both are weary. Both are defensive. But there is a friendship growing slowly and may be something more.
This was a slow burn romance. Like very slow. Each and every progress was described in details so that the readers can relish. It was sweet. It was witty. It was whole lot of heated and sexy. Cole and Jane bod have ugly baggage. Cole was a bit angry and defeated and closed off with his heart and life. Jane was doubtful about letting her guards down around him and she was rightfully worried about Finn who was instantly infatuated with Cole. But above everything they had a deep connection that was built by mutual trust and loneliness. Cole is just amazing. He is so good with Jane and more so, with Finn. He supported her and took care of her all while encouraging her to carry on her work. I love Jane. She is hard working, independent, strong and caring. She has seen a lot of disappointment and in her life. And protecting her son and being respectful to her work are really important to her. She made Cole forget his sadness about his old life and made him see life from a new perspective. They were partners who brought something to the relationship. And the chemistry is really hot! Like pantymelting makes me blush and shiver kind of hot. The physical chemistry only made their love more intense. They had challenges but the ending was worth it.
Playing with Trouble by Amy Andrews was all about feel good, slow burn and heartfelt romance goodness.
Playing with Trouble by Amy Andrews Crossover: Sydney Smoke and Credence, Colorado
What fun! I was SO in the mood for an easy read that provided romance, an easy-ish problem to solve and a happily ever after. I was smiling and happy all the way through the book…or at lest most of it ;)
What I liked: * Cole: super nice, kind, wonderful book boyfriend. He was a good person, good lover, good with women, children, and others. I really liked him! * Jane: intelligent, talented, businesswoman, mother, interesting, spontaneous, makes it work with her ex for her son’s sake. I liked her. * Finn: 4-year-old bundle of energy, darling, devoted, so much fun! * Tad: not great for Jane but a good father even though a bit self-absorbed and irresponsible. * Credence, Colorado: There are some great people in this town and would love to hear more in the future about some of them. * The dynamics between Cole, Jane & Finn were healthy, wholesome, human and perfectly delightful to watch. * That there was not a great deal of angst and drama * All of it really except…
What I didn’t like: * Having to say goodbye to Cole, Jane & Finn
Did I enjoy this book? Definitely! Would I read more by this author? Without a doubt!
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Brazen for the ARC – This is my honest review.
What a fun read! This is a multiple perspective, friends to lovers story about Jane and Cole. Jane was hired to restore the floor in the house of a famous football player, but a couple of wrenches are thrown in when her ex drops off their four year old son several weeks early, not to mention retired Rugby player Cole shows up at the house for a little R&R. He is another distraction that Jane does not need, especially when he walks around with no shirt on. So when he offers to babysit, she is desperate enough to agree. It had such sweet family moments plus all the hilarious hijinks that four year old's get into. The writing was good and I like how Cole was written into becoming Manny, which could have been hard since he was a stranger in the house. It was a great slow burn and loved all the stolen kisses between Jane and Cole. The only issue I had was Jane came off as really judgmental and mean to Cole in the beginning and did not really like her. The ending was wrapped up nicely and I like how they did not feel rushed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book it was super cute and funny, with a little steam bits thrown in. I received this ebook, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.
Playing with Trouble is a lovely feel good romance of finding that special someone when you least expect it. Cole is a professional rugby player that after an injury is on holiday by himself to regroup. He decides to stay at a friends home in America and just be. He isn't expecting the tool wheeling woman in her undies to threaten him but yes she did and she is sassy. Jane is a single mom to such a sweet little very out going boy and she is on a work assignment. When her ex husband isn't able to pick up their son Finn she now needs a nanny or a manny ! The house that Jane is restoring just got a wee bit smaller when the big brooding silent type moves in. They soon discover a routine and each evening they share a bit more. Cole sees that Jane needs a sitter and he just jumps in and offers his services. I loved watching this couple banter, share and discover themselves and each other . Our little man Finn was just such a breath of fresh air and quite the ice breaker for Cole and Jane. ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Sweet, sexy and adorable! When a sexy former rugby star finds himself cohabitating with a hardworking mom and her precocious four year old son, good times ensue! The connection Cole makes with little Finn will melt your heart. The storyline in general is a bit of a slow burn but eventually heats up and delivers a spicy affair mixed with a growing attraction towards forever.
Cole is at a crossroad after an injury derails his career as he knew it. He's more stable than one might expect, but has a bit of soul searching to do to figure out where he goes from here back home in Australia ... especially since he's falling for an American and her son!
Jane is tough as nails and loves hard. She's been let down too much in life to let herself fall easily into a quick connection with this guy who's going to be leaving any day now ... but watching him adore her son is her favorite kind of torture.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys when a temporary affair turns into forever.
"Playing with Trouble" by Amy Andrews is a crossover between the author's Sydney Smoke Rugby and Credence, Colorado series, but reads as a complete standalone.
The romance between main characters Cole and Jane was definitely a slow burn. In fact, it may have gone a bit too slow at first, and that's coming from a reader whose favorite trope is slow burn! In the first half of the book, Cole spent more time with Jane's son Finn than with Jane herself, and while Cole and Jane had a few decent conversations and shared a couple of passionate kisses in that time, it didn't feel like quite enough of a basis for their relationship. Fortunately, things improved substantially about halfway through the book. Cole and Jane finally started to grow closer and I felt the chemistry between them more and more. Despite the obvious challenges they faced, I really liked them together and wanted things to work out for them.
Cole was an incredibly likeable and sympathetic lead character. I felt so bad for what he was going through because of his injury and having to come to terms with the end of his professional rugby career. Fortunately, he seemed to be handling it well, and the time he spent with Jane and Finn seemed to be therapeutic in a lot of ways. Cole turned out to be really good with kids, and I loved the scenes of him interacting with the 4- and 5-year-olds during his rugby clinic. His nicknames for them were hilarious, as was his spot-on observation that working with kids at that age is like trying to herd cats.
There were a number of wonderful secondary characters included in this story, many of whom I recognized from earlier books in the Credence, Colorado series. I especially enjoyed the time Cole spent at the Lumberjack bar with Arlo, Tucker, and Drew. I'm still hoping that Arlo and Drew will get stories of their own in the future!
Despite the slow start to Jane and Cole's romance, I loved this funny, sweet, and heartwarming story and highly recommend it for fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. I look forward to seeing what Amy Andrews writes next.
*Review copy provided by the author/publisher via Grey's Promotions. All opinions expressed are my own.
Revisiting the beautiful Credence Colorado and briefly reconnecting with some characters of old. I really enjoyed Playing With Trouble, the interaction with Cole and Jade is emotional, serious, and humorous. The story is well delivered and engaging throughout. I look forward to reading more by this author and would recommend this book
Great crossover story with some favorite characters dropping in. Reid is a hot Aussie rugby player who is injured. Jane is a fiercely independent single mom. Finn is the highlight of the story and provides lots of fun interactions. Amy Andrews provides a spectacular story as Reid takes his role as manny seriously and first falls in love with the pint sized Finn and then his irresistible mom, Jane. There is fun and laughter throughout as the pet reptile is encountered and training camp where everyone gets a nickname.
I adore Amy Andrews’ writing. She manages to bring such depth and detail to her stories, characters and worlds, all while keeping a light airiness that makes her words so easy to devour. Added to that, she’s hella funny. She makes me laugh so often in her novels - which I absolutely love.
This particular book brings together two of her popular series’ - Sydney Smoke and Credence, Colorado. I’ve never read any of the Smoke books but have read each and every Credence book. This story still stands alone even if characters from both series do pop up on occasion - especially the men of Credence, there to delight us with some bromantic banter, teasing and mocking.
With this love story we have big, brawny rugby player, Cole, recuperating in Colorado after a career ending accident back in Australia. He finds himself sharing his holiday home with Prickly Pants Jane and her 4 year old son, Finn.
I loved Cole. He was all laid-back Ozzie while also dealing with the uncertainty of his future and his unexpected feelings towards Jane and her son. He had enough layers to keep me happy - just enough sweet and just enough dirty.
Jane was something more of a grower for me. At first she was cold and standoffish towards Cole and I wasn’t really sure that I liked her. As she softened towards Cole, I softened towards her. I could understand why she had her walls up around Cole, but boy could I identify with her once she threw caution to the wind and acted on her instincts to make a move on Cole.
It took a while to get there, but that just built up anticipation before our couple finally do the deed. I got that delicious feeling in my tummy every time our pair kissed or had sex. It was a delight. I adored their chemistry.
Since this is a single parent story, Finn does have a very large role in it. He was a cutie and although it’s not my favourite trope, in this case, it worked well. Kudos also to Ms Andrews for not making Tad into a pantomime villain. I wouldn’t have minded, to be honest, but making him something of a good guy really did add dimension to burgeoning love story.
I really grappled between giving this 4 or 5 stars. As much as I enjoyed the story and our couple, I plumped for 4 as, because of the single parent trope, the ending had to be slightly slower to make it believable. It was still a super cute, romantic and funny read that I would definitely recommend. I’ll also be heading to find more of the Sydney Smoke books to pick up more hunky Australian rugby boys.
Cole is awesome, Jane is the best, and Finn is just too adorable! I love that this story brought together two of my favorite stories, and it's even better than I could've hoped for!
**I received this book as an ARC in return for my honest review**
What a great read! I loved the writing style, the book is filled with humor and love, without losing the importance of struggles and pining. Cole and Jane are great together, but life is complicated, especially with kids being part of the mix! I loved the details like writing words Australian/American depending on whose POV the chapter was in (ass/arse for instance), it gave subtle reminders about their differences. And that epilogue was the sweetest!
Such an adorable read! This is sweet with a touch of sexiness, pairing an injured rugby player with a single mom and her outgoing son. It's a feel good romance with low angst and plenty of sexual tension, and I loved this hero. He's a man who has been in the spotlight but craves the connection he's found with this little family, and the whole story is downright cute. I don't read third person often but Andrews does it well, and this one was nearly a 5-star read for me. There are a couple of spots that felt a little slow, but nothing holding me back from enjoying this sweet romance.
The story follows Cole, an Australian rugby player who has been sidelined from the game following a career-ending injury. He's not quite sure what to do with himself, so he's decided to spend some time in America and stay at the empty home of a friend. Or at least, the home was SUPPOSED to be empty. After an extremely memorable meet cute, Cole finds himself sharing a home with single mom Jane and her young son. While it's not the arrangement that any of them expected, Cole quickly settles into a very different kind of life, even going so far as to take on the role of "manny." But Cole's stay was always supposed to be temporary, and starting up a long distance relationship isn't in his plans.
I liked this quite a bit. It always takes me a little while to settle into a third person romance, so the start was kinda slow for me. But once I got to know these characters (especially Cole) better, I really started to enjoy it. There's something so sexy about a man who could live a lavish lifestyle but chooses not to, and his growing feelings were the best part of the story. Jane got on my nerves a few times, but I also understood where she was coming from, so it didn't detract from the romance. There are some adorable scenes with Cole and Jane's son, which will melt your heart. And there are also a few steamy scenes that will heat up your Kindle. This one's a mix of several different moods, ultimately feeling like a heartwarming, feel good read. I received an early copy via Grey's Promotions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sweet romance.
This was a cute, yet serious, lighter, low drama gem of a read. A bit more G rated than I'm used to from this author only because there's this adorable, impressionable, and repeat everything he hears little boy named Finn, who'll steal your heart the way he stole Cole's. I enjoyed reading as Cole, famous X Australian rugby player, X being key here, try to get a handle on the life he's now facing sans rugby. Hiding out in Credence, CO, away from all the speculation for some major recharge time, alone, or supposedly anyway, in his old friend and famous footballer Wade Carter and his PA-turned-wife, CC's huge historical house was just what he needed. He didn't know squat about what he needed, and before long Jane and Finn become his everything. Jane's number one priority is Finn, above all else, but dayum, does Cole trip her triggers!! She's a strong female which I love, and between the five, wait five? yes five, of them they have a lot of giving and taking. Great storyline with a wonderful and exciting HEA I loved as well. Recommended reading from me. I received an advance reader's copy from the publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily giving my honest thoughts and opinions on "Playing With Trouble".
If you want a single parent romance where the other person steps in and bonds with the kid in the most adorable way, this is the one!
A few things I loved about this one: - the adorable relationship between Cole and little Finn (he definitely stole the show!) - The slowburn dislike-to-hookup-to-love tension between Cole and Jane - The SUPER hot steamy scenes - How the book dealt with Cole’s career-ending injury and how he processed how he would move forward.
***I received a copy of Playing with Trouble from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My Opinions are my own and not solicited in any way***
Playing with Trouble by Amy Andrews was fantastic and little Finn stole my heart plus Cole had the patience of a saint even with the Houdini chameleon lizard. I had already read Wayne and CC's story so hearing that Jane was helping with the restoration was a plus. This story is completely worth all 5 stars and then some more besides you had me a "Needle nose Pliers" .
Jane Spencer is restoring the parquet floors in Wayne and CC's mansion in Credence what she thought would be a easy job ends up with her ex dropping off their 4-year old son and a Chameleon. But during the night a handsome yet jet lagged Aussie Rugby player Cole Hauser to crawl into bed with her. (hence the pliers) Can Jane, Finn and Carl worm their way into Cole's heart? What happens when not one but job offers are given to Cole will he return to Australia or will he stay to see if Jane and Finn are his HEA?
Cole Hauser is recovering from a serious car accident and has come to Credence to recover out of the media spotlight and decide what his future will be without playing Rugby. Little does he know that Jane and her son Finn are there doing restoration and he'll run a Rugby clinic for the kids in Credence and perhaps fall in love with a kick a** single mom with a cute 4 year old named Finn.
