Audrey Sharpe grew up believing in the Force and dreaming of becoming captain of the Enterprise. She’s still working out the logistics of moving objects with her mind, but writing science fiction provides a pretty good alternative. When she’s not off exploring the galaxy with Aurora and her crew, she lives in the Sonoran Desert, where she has an excellent view of the stars. Usually, when I read a series, I enjoy the beginning books more than the later installments. I love the getting to know you stage of characters. In this series, I nearly didn’t continue reading after the first book because it was all action, very little character development. But I am very glad I continued on, because I’m enjoying each installment a bit more as the focus isn’t so much on action and fight scenes and more on character growth. I’ve read some reviews where they were unhappy with how happy the characters lives were turning out, but seriously, that’s exactly what I love about this book in particular. They have a pretty major enemy and task to fulfill that has really dark undertones. Make the characters personal lives happy so the readers aren’t slogging through misery. I read for enjoyment, not reality.

So.
I still like all the stories around Cade and his team, I love love love the original Aliens that are introduced (Yruf) and how this develops. That was all surprising and great.

What I had to skim and really really disliked: the sudden OTT love story between Lelinida and Jonarel. This was unbearable. It was so cloyingly sweet/sexy/love of the millenium contrived trash, that I had to leave it out.

There is one month between "I am in love with your best friend" to "I love you more than the stars and the moons and want to mate with you/marry you/have your children RIGHT NOW/will kill everyone who accidently bumps into you, get sexed up when you breathe in my direction..." well, you get the drift...

Long-winded, and a lot of the depth of the main characters was lost. This became a stereotypical happy-family scenario, where everyone pairs off, and Oh Look! Dad's filthy rich and can get personal flights everywhere! The intention was character development, but I was very disappointed with how one-dimensional and unbelievable the new characters were, especially the (spoiler) dad and brother. I want to see what happens story-wise, but if this series doesn't improve in the next book, I will probably drop it.

The story is moving along fairly well, even if is not contained in a single book. Although there are multiple threads in this episode, it seemed that this volume could work as a standalone story. Quite a few characters are developing along expected lines, with some zigzagging, while a few new ones are introduced. Lots of fantasy about alien races and technology, the first not so scientific while the second might amount to that as well. Still, I am enjoying the story.

Just Wow!

So much to take in and enjoy. The mixed use romances, the parents FINALLY getting back together where they belong, Mya and Jon, Aurora and Care. Whew loved it.

Then there is all the sci-fi action and adventure. I rally have come to detest Deanne and all of her evil.

I enjoyed this series!

I am retired and read alot. usually sifi. The characters are well done. writing is good and flows well. I await book 5 and hope the crew has success. So far they survive but lots of bad things happen. This last one, book 4, did have the family coming together and settle problems with the crews love lives. That was great. Thanks to the author.

Outstanding!

Great action, emotional, gripping, best book in the series so far. The Yurf are my new favorite maybe friends, can't wait to get to know them. The emotional range in the book was great and didn't take away from the adventure and action.

captivating

Great book. Aurora and her family go through the fire literally to save their family and the Forrest’s. The aftermath leaves secrets out and many questions. Love this author.

Still lots of action, but I learned more about meditation and surfboard I got than I ever knew. Interesting but tended to slow down the pace of the story.

gripping

Engaging characters. Well thought out challenges. The series holds the reader to the chair. Start to finish, even with chapter breaks, it’s hard to put down.

We learn a lot more about Aurora in book 4. There is additional world building, character development and characters we see for the first time. The plot brings everyone together as the book ends. Nothing is solved but much is revealed. Now all I need is the next book in the series. Keep writing Audrey.
