I’ve spent my life running away from my past. And for so long, that’s worked. Not anymore.
Now my past is out to get me in the form of Zach O’Malley. He was my first crush, but that was then. My name is still Beatrice Dobbs, but everything else has changed. I’m an adult now. I don’t want to go back to my troubled past.
Plus Zach is from the wrong side of the tracks. Sure, back when I was in high school, I had a thing for the Bad Boy, but not anymore. And on top of that, he’s trying to get me to reconnect with my mother. I haven’t spoken to her since I was eighteen, and I would rather re-take the SAT’s than see her again.
And yet, I can’t seem to push Zach away. He’s no good for me. But maybe – just maybe– my teenage self was onto something. What’s the harm in a little bit of fun?
Diez años después vuelven a encontrarse.
This was an okay read. It started off good but got worse as it went along. The whole reason for that was Beatrice. She refused to accept that Zach had changed. Plus she was convinced that he was still a bad person just because he still had contact with someone from his past. Quite frankly she was pathetic and got on my nerves. The only good thing is that in the end they got a happy ending. Even if Beatrice didn't deserve one.
Zack was Beatrice's first crush but he was the ultimate bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. She wants him, she doesn't want him. Their chemistry is off the charts and she keeps finding him hard to resist. She has a lot of baggage from her breakup with her mom when she was only eighteen and she sometimes over does it with the whiney attitude. She is lucky to have supportive friends. Lot of drama and some suspense with the mother and Zack's urging her to make up. You can never really get away from your past. The characters were well developed and the story was engaging. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review it.
I can't stand how snobby Beatrice is. She overcame her childhood growing up with her alcoholic/drug dealing mom and moved on. Yet when she runs into Zach ten years later, who she now knows runs his own housing construction company, she's still hyper focused on his past with his drug dealing father and can't even consider that he also escaped his past. She remembers how sweet he was to her but she still doesn't seem to care. She's a total bitch and while I suspect she gets her man in the end, she certainly doesn't deserve to.

I wanted to like the book, I really did. I just had a problem with Beatrice. She really was not a likable character and the whole “is he still dealing” was getting old. I was surprised that I actually finished the book, but I really liked Zach so I was interested in learning about his story.
Experiences of the Past that Morph Into the Reality of the Present
We are all impacted by our origins; both of good and bad of our past. For Beatrice Dobbs, her childhood was a swirl of both the positive and negative experiences of her years spent in Torrins, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago located only a 30-minute drive from the Windy City’s downtown.
As the only child of a single parent mom, life was definitely a mix of the good and the bad. While she and her mom resided with her mom’s mom, Deborah, life was stable because of her grandmother’s influence. But once her mom moved with her toddler into an apartment, Bea’s time with her grandmother was limited to the babysitting time they shared during her mom’s waitressing shifts. And, when her mom made the decision to supplement her meager salary to support her alcoholism by dealing drugs on the side, contact with her grandmother was even more limited.
During her teens, Bea’s focus was the dream of a life out of Torrins, away from her mom’s toxic world. The one individual who understood Bea’s world was Zach O’Malley, the son of a dealer in Torrins’ drug world. A year ahead of Bea in school, it was Zach whose dark-haired, blue-eyed face and wit that could make her smile on the dark days when she would flee her own apartment when her mom’s “business associates” came calling. And finally, it was Zack’s yielding to his father’s demands of participating in the “family business” that pushed Bea to turn her back on life with mom and to move back to the security of her grandmother’s home where her focus become her grades with the hope of getting scholarships for college, opening the door to a life outside of Torrins and away from the fear of following her mother’s pathway.
Now, 10 years later, Bea has achieved her dreams of a college degree and a successful life outside of Torrins in Chicago. And, her controlled first-Sunday-of-the-month trip back to Torrins for a monthly visit with her grandmother is her only trip down memory lane until, as she awaits her bus back to Chicago, she sees Zack in the 7-Eleven located across the street from the bus stop. And, as the bus pulls up she sees Zack mouth her name. And, when he appears in the Merchandise Mart where her company is located, it seems that her past has found his way into her present. And the emotional and physical pulls shared by the two Torrins former friends, still exist in the present. But, the past is not always past, and Bea is not willing to risk her present and her future for her youthful secret crush.
Kelly Meyers tells a passionate story of a young girl whose transition to womanhood is also a struggle to leave her past behind. The tale of learning to accept one’s past, both the good and bad, as the pathway to embracing and fully accepting who one is as an individual is told with sensitivity that affirms the worth of the individual and the ability to grow and accept all parts that make us who we are.

Beatrice/Bea, 27, had a rough childhood with an alcoholic, drug addicted mother who also sold drugs and had unsavory friends. When she was younger she had a crush on Zach and spent time with him but he dealt with a drug dealing dad whom he sometimes helped with his deals. Bea had left her hometown and hadn’t spoken with her mother or Zach in almost 10 years and had a good corporate job in Chicago. Bea ends up seeing Zach again and learns he is now has a construction business and builds home near Chicago and still lives in their hometown. They reconnect and start seeing each other again but problems develop when Zach mentions her estranged mother and seems to be pushing Bea to talk to her. How will Bea react when she finds out that Zach has been lying to her? Will Bea and Zach be able o make a relationship work?
I enjoyed this story and the author did a fantastic job of developing the characters’s backgrounds. Bea’s estrangement from her mother was a large part of the story. I’m not as sure that I could get over Zach’s lies and deceptions as well as Bea did. Her relationship with Zach was an almost constant reminder of her troubled past that she would have to deal with. The epilogue was a good ending for their story.

🐉🐉ONE WICKED ROLLERCOASTER🐉🐉 Suga boom boom! Kelly does it up right with this incredibly spun debacle, dishing out some fervent facts, harsh decisions and dealing with disasters, grabbing you from start to finish, keeping you riveted and frozen to your seat, wrapping this gem up sleek shiny and tight. Redefined limitations and dissolved restrictions are explored and expanded, exposing the sexy quirks and defying bents, blowing this gem into a tailspin with astonishing results. Toss in captivating drama, riveting intrigue, disarming deception, intense encounters and swirling suspense ensure in epic proportions, catapulting this baby to life brilliantly. The attraction and chemistry collides with such perfection, drawing you deeper, kicking this baby into the eye of the storm, slamming it into a tailspin with a life changing culmination. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Fantastic job Kelly, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Beatrice had a hard life growing up. Her mom was an alcoholic who also worked for a drug dealer, eventually using them too. No dad around to help her. As she got older, things got worse and all she could think of was escaping town and starting a new life. The only bright spot and comfort is Zach.
Zach understands what Beatrice is going through. His father is also a dealer. Unfortunately, he forces Zach to deliver drugs. Zach feels trapped. The one good thing in his life is Beatrice.
With the help of her grandmother, Beatrice escapes. Graduating college, she gets a job in the city and never looks back. She only returns to her old town to visit her grandmother. On one visit however, she sees the boy she left behind. Zach catches a glimpse of her too, then reaches out to her by showing up to see her in the city.
The sparks are still there, but is she ready to face her past? Is he a different person now? Can they create a future together, even with the past they shared?
I really enjoyed this book and loved watching the characters grow. Looking forward to the next book in the series!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
One dosen't trust anyone the other says they've changed is there a second chance for Beatrice and Zach. 10 years and a chance meeting Bea is visiting her Grandmother when she sees the boy from her past the one who grew up just as bad as she did but with one difference her mother was a user and a drunk and Zack his dad was a user and a dealer but Zack he helped his dad do bad things and Bea hasn't forgotten. Zack runs his own construction company now hes doing good for himself he never wanted to do bad things but he still has ties to Bea's painful past will she move past it and can he prove that hes worth a second chance. 3.4 star read this is a good book but I couldn't get past Beatrice or Bea her attitude stunk her past stunk but after 10 years get therapy and move on or just find your inner piece and due it yourself also the book moved slowly at first. This was a first time read by this author I enjoyed the rest of the book once I got past the slower parts its well written but one of the characters was just to whiny for me.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
SEARCHING FOR LOVE: COMPLETE SERIES COLLECTION By Kelly Myers
It's a collection of four love stories surrounding the lives of four friends.
😊What i liked -
✔ Enemies To Lovers/Frenemies With Benefits/Workplace Romance/Second Chance/Forbidden Love/Fake Relationship. ✔ I loved the character buildup of Zoe, Elena, Micheal, Zach and David. ✔ I loved how different the four girls were from each other and the bond they all shared with each other. ✔ Through all the series you will find a lot of drama. heartaches and instant attraction. ✔ My favourite books in the series were Against All Odds and Breaking All The Rules.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ I did not like Leo as a character at all, plus I felt no spark between him and Marianne. ✔ I liked Marianne as a side character but not as an MC. She seemed so strong in the other books but in her own book I did not see that strength. ✔ I did not feel there was any chemistry between Bea and Zach too.
📚Who Should read :
Beginners Romance Lovers
📈My Rating : 3.5/5
P.s- My rating for Against All Odds and Breaking All The Rules as individual books is 4.

This is a great story that will hook you in the first chapter and leave you wanting more with the last one. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Zach and Beatrice went to high school together. Zach is the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Her single Mom is a druggie and she surrounds herself with drug pusher and users. Zach happens to be one of them. The minute Beatrice graduates from high school, she is out of the Podunk town. Ten years later, Beatrice is living in Chicago living the good life. She goes back home once a month to visit her Grandma. One of those times, guess who she sees? Zach of course. He still looks good. Is he still selling drugs? Has he cleaned up his act? For the answers to these questions and many more, you will need to read this book. It is very well written and keeps your attention. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book in the Searching for Love series, well-written and quick to read, this story had my emotions all over the place.
Beatrice came from an unstable single alcoholic /drug addict mom household, she craved stability and unpredictably. Zach was her first crush and became a source of safety but his home life wasn't any better than Beas. Bea ran as soon as she was able and made a good life for herself until Zach runs into her path again a decade later. Can Bea trust that Zach has her best interests at heart or is there something else behind the reason he showed up on her doorstep. They have some sizzling chemistry between them, plenty of drama to work through, can they get their pictures perfect HEA? I was definitely cheering for them....
Beatrice made it out of the town she was born. Despite all she went through with her mother being addicted to alcohol and drugs. Bea went to college, graduated and has a job. One day while visiting her grandmother she sees someone from her past, Zach. He was her salvation from her youth. She had a very bad crush on him. Seeing him now, she wonders how his life turned out. You see, his father dealt drugs and involved Zach in it even though he wanted nothing to do with it. Zach finds her and the attraction is still there. Bea thinks it could just be a thing, nothing serious. Bea thinks Zach is hiding something, that he still deals with drugs. She doesn't know what to think anymore. Eventually she works through her doubts. Still issues need to be addressed. HEA? Read to find out.
Growing up with an alocoholic mother,m her only relief outside of her grandmother, who she sees less and less, is the boy whose father deals with drugs. What is a girl to do the only think she can to survive shut to door to her toxic path and move in with grandma, get a college education and make something of herself like she dreamed of as a child. Great and done until one trip home and she sees him, then he shows up at her job and now the story gets really interesting. How does no except her past, especially the bad, look at someone from that place and see the change as well, or is it a mistake and will spiral down. This story touches so much of reality and is written with such passion and heartfelt emotion it makes an incredible read

Beatrice and Zach grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Beatrice left Torrins 10 years ago to go to College in Chicago. She left 10 years ago and only goes back once a month to visit her grandmother. She sees her Zach, her school girl crush, at a 7-11. He sees her and smiles. She leaves and goes back home to Chicago. Zach shows up one day at her office building and ask her out. Beatrice falls back to her comfortable feelings with Zach. Beatice has not talked to her mother in 10 years since she left Torrins. Her mother has changed and is trying to reconnect with her daughter. Zach tries to get Beatrice to reconnect with her mom. Beatrice is upset with Zach and refuses to talk to him. Can Beatrice and Zack get over their childhood past and have a future together? HEA ending.

Beatrice had a rough childhood that centered around drugs, dealers, and those addicted. Zach was someone that Beatrice had a crush on but knew it was not a good thing as he was a part of that drug dealing world. That does not stop her from wanting more from him. After running from her childhood home, she now has a good support system in place with friends when she runs into Zach again. She learns that Zach is now a business owner that has put his past behind him as well. Zach and Beatrice have instant chemistry that cannot be denied. Does this mean that they will be able to overcome their past and look towards the future? Will secrets and lies keep the two apart? Beatrice and Zach are wonderfully developed characters that pull at the heartstrings of the person reading and rooting for their happily ever after.
Bea had a bad time growing up and she ran away (literally). She's made it now, a good job, her own apartment and some close friends. She still visits her grandma back in "that" town where she grew up, and she catches a glimpse of the boy she had a crush on. Zach tracks down Bea in the city and re-connects, but Bea is not all that trusting. She has good reason to not trust Zach, but also does not really give him a chance either. She came from almost the same background, and she made it, so why can't trust that Zach has either. It was a bit difficult to get into Bea's character. Zach was sweet with his "Sharp eyes, sharp cheeks, soft lips" comment and also when he said "Then don't look at me."
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This was the second chance at love between Bea and Zach. She ended up right back where she did not want to be. For as much as she has always wanted Zach, Bea is not going to let herself fall. Zach is not the same boy she knew. He is a man that has learned some rough lessons but she has not been around to know that. To be together, both of them must get beyond their past. Zach wants that for Bea, but she feels that urge to run again. The obstacles ahead are rough, but they will find their happiness together with trust, support and love

This was an amazing read. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. This book was a such a page turner you just wanted to see what happens next. I would have given it five stars if it was done from two point of views. Everything was from Beatrice's side. Other then that I couldn't find anything wrong with the storyline. It flowed so smoothly from the beginning to the end. Zach and Beatrice knew eachother as kids they both came from a small town. Zach and Beatrice were such relatable characters. You felt all of the pain, excitement, acceptance, forgiveness, love and betrayal. I highly recommend this book.

This is a second chance romance about Beatrice and Zach....Beatrice doesnt want to remember or think about her life before she ran away ... she hasnt looked back but now a ghost from the past shows up and all the bad memories of her childhood come crashing back . Has Zach changed as he says or is he still the same....even when she catches him lying to her she cant get the man that was her childhood crush out of her mind and how he shielded her from all the bad things surrounding her... I definitely recommend this book.

It's been 10 years since Beatrice last saw the love of her life. Finally getting away from her drunk and drugged mom and moving in with her grandma before heading to college. Now she is loving in the city with her own apartment, a good job and great friends. Only heading back home once a month to see her grandma, when she spots Zach from a distance.
Tracking her down to her workplace Zach surprises her and they arrange to meet up for dinner. Still suffering the effects from her childhood she doesn't wish to discuss their past or her mom. Zach was a bad boy back in the day, running drugs for his father but looks to have turned his life around. Beatrice is not so sure and debates whether or not to trust him.
A journey of self-discovery for Beatrice as she works out how to come to terms with things from the past. Realising that she is unable to change them but can change how they affect her now. Falling into the arms of her teenage crush 0 can this ever be more than just a casual thing?
When Bea runs away from her mom at 17 she also runs from the one guy she has true feelings for. Fast forward ten years and she back visiting her gram and see Zach at a store. Then he shows up at her work. The feelings are all still there but the secret he’s keeping could tear them apart. Will he be able to talk fast enough to did himself out of the hole he’s in....this book has steam, it has drama, laughs and tears....it was sooo good.

Loved this book. Both Bea and Zach came from the wrong side of the tracks. Bea fought so hard to get away from a drug dealing mother. Her and Zach found comfort and support in each other, but they were too young. Beatrice ran away 10 years ago and left everything behind to start a new life. Zach was forced into a life he didn’t want. Facing up to his father he finally broke away. Fate brings them together again, but can they get over their past.

So this book has me a bit stumped. On one hand, and I really do not like saying this, I was at times a little bored because the same situation and topic came up over and over again. Then again a lot of the information was important to understand the main characters and their history, but I found some topics to be to repetative, and on some occations I thought Beah was too harsh on Zach. I understood where she came from, but she came off as a little too cold and too stuck in the past.

This is the story of Beatrice and Zach, he was the bad boy and her mother's drug dealer. She left home at eighteen and goes back to visit her grandmother. On one trip she runs into Zach, he still looks good. He hunts her down, and wants her to reconnect with her mother. I really enjoyed this story and the characters were well written and I could get behind Beatrice. Zach was good also. The story flowed well. I really did like this story.
