One Wild Weekend with Ryder

Rate this book
He’s the only gift she wants to unwrap this Christmas…

If you believe the hype, Christmas is supposed to be a time to spend with loved ones.

And up until a few days ago, I was blissfully happy, in full holiday mode and planning to visit my family in Iowa with my lovely new boyfriend, Adam.

But rather than the engagement ring I expected and the happy introduction to my family, Adam dumps me.

Via email.

I did not handle it well.

Seven-ish Margaritas and half a box of tissues later, and I’ve somehow accidentally agreed to spend Christmas in Alaska.

To make matters worse, when I touch down in Anchorage, it’s not my sweet old college roommate, Cindy waiting for me with more tissues, but her smoking hot brother, Ryder.

I’m supposed to be writing a review of Cindy's retreat for the travel magazine I work for, and getting over Adam, not fantasizing about smooching a broody ex MMA fighter under the mistletoe.

As if the three-hour drive back to the retreat with him wasn’t awkward enough, knowing Cindy’s broken her ankle and can’t show me around makes it even worse.

My reluctant tour guide has made it clear I’m an inconvenience, so wandering off to take photos of the Northern Lights and falling through the ice, only makes him resent my intrusion more.

But after we’re forced to spend a night snuggled together in his cabin to stave off hypothermia, and he lets slip why he hates Christmas, I’m pretty sure there’s warmth under his icy exterior.

If I can get just get him to let his guard down long enough to tell me why he lives like a cross between a prepper and a hermit in the wilderness, there’s a chance I might still be here come New Years…

I am voluntarily reading an advanced reader copy of this book.

Millie has been dumped by her new boyfriend just before Christmas, she thought things were ok but one email later she’s single again. Drowning her sorrows leads her to agreeing to visit Alaska to write a travel review by her old college roomie Cindy. Expecting Cindy when she arrives she is taken aback by Ryder the brooding man who is waiting to pick her up who also happens to be Cindy’s brother. Things only get worse when the weather causes them to take up shelter in his own cabin to wait out the storm, she can tell he wants her gone and the sooner the better but they are stuck with each other for now. There is just something about this man and she’s determined to know it all. Can Ryder let down his guard and embrace what they could have or will she end up this time with a shattered heart?

Ryder has been retired from his career as a MMA fighter for the last year, and he really didn’t want to go and collect his sisters friend from the airport. Millie is trouble just waiting to happen and now he’s stuck in his cabin with a woman who is getting under his skin in a way he never thought existed, his efforts to push her away seem of no use so when he gives in to the the chemistry between them it’s off the scale hot. But there is a reason he’s been retired for a year and hiding in the mountains and it looks like his past is here to collect his dues. Will he be able to show Millie his true feelings for her or has he lost what he never knew he could have?

Massive fan of this author and each book in this series I have loved. This has a bit of everything in it, steamy and thrilling 4.5 read .

This was a very hot and steamy romance! There was so much arguing in this story as Ryder is pretty abrupt and understandably, Millie gets quite angry. However, when they get together, sparks fly and things get steamy hot enough to melt your panties off. That being said, Ryder can actually be quite sweet and romantic! This story had a couple of twists I didn't expect and there was some excitement and action which made the book pretty interesting.

This book wasn't overwhelming and it wasn't underwhelming, so I guess you could say it left me feeling whelmed.

I know these books are supposed to be more about the "erotica" and less about the plot, but I still have my standards.

description

Honestly, the writing could have done with a little more polishing. There were so many instances of misused commas and periods, and also quite a few sentences where words were just missing. I tend to be fairly lenient with my "sex stories" as they're not meant to be literary masterpieces, but if there are enough mistakes to snag my attention and negatively impact my reading experience, I believe it's worth pointing out.

Now, I'll admit the sex scenes were fantastic and scorching hot, but the plot wasn't my favorite.

description

The mystery behind Ryder running off to Alaska was kept a secret for way too long (until basically the very end of the book). As readers, we're led to believe that him becoming an unsociable hermit and raging asshole was because of whatever happened that made him isolate himself from everyone. The issue with choosing to not make us aware of his reasons earlier on in the story was that his character's likableness rested on us (or at least me) being able to justify his nasty personality on whatever trauma he was carrying around on his shoulders. But that was a lot of expectation to build, especially given that the reveal kept being put off, and turned into something that would make or break the story.

And, for me, it kind of broke it. The conflict behind Ryder's escape turned out to be messy and convoluted. And the explanation of it was tackled in a somewhat haphazard way that made the whole thing feel confusing.

description

Also, after re-reading the blurb while I'm writing this review, I feel like my copy of this book was missing a bunch of chapters where the whole "Up until a few days ago, I was blissfully happy, in full holiday mode and planning to visit my family in Iowa with my lovely new boyfriend, Adam. But rather than the engagement ring I expected and the happy introduction to my family, Adam dumps me. Via email. I did not handle it well. Seven-ish Margaritas and half a box of tissues later, and I’ve somehow accidentally agreed to spend Christmas in Alaska." took place. I'm gonna have to go back and re-check my Kindle, because that's kinda insane that there's a big chunk of the blurb missing from the actual story.

description

So, that's it. If you have low expectations and aren't looking for much more than fun, steamy moments, I guess this'll scratch that itch. But I'd recommend to keep an eye out and wait to download this one when it's free, like I did.

Millie is dumped by her boyfriend again. This time is right before Christmas. Instead of going home, she agrees to visit her friend Cindy in Alaska to write a travel review for her retreat. Millie meets Cindy’s brother Ryder in a very unusual circumstance and ends up spending Christmas in his rustic cabin. Ryder is rude, reclusive, secretive, sexy, and pretty mean to Millie. He at least has some decency to feel guilty about the way he treats her and tries to make it up to her. Their weekend together changes from distant hostile to physically intimate. Their intimate relationship doesn’t give Millie any insight on Ryder’s secret. Millie gets transported to the retreat after the weekend and finishes her review for the retreat. At the airport heading back to her family, Millie is waylaid by Ryder’s coach, who claims he needs her help and it is a life or death matter. Unwittingly she is thrown into a dangerous situation, where drugs, sexual abuse, violence, firearms are involved. As Ryder’s past unfold and future event sets in place, it is a wild ride and eye opening of MMA world. This is an exciting and entertaining story.

This series is fantastic. The characters are one brooding, nontalkative, loner living in Alaska named Ryder. He is picking up a friend of his sister’s at the airport. Millie is a travel writer, blogger, Instagram who is coming to Alaska to take pics of her old friend/roommate’s spa retreat. Millie has been through alot lately - boyfriend dump, work overload, stress and she needs to relax and rest. She is in need of quiet peace. Ryder is distant and not used to having a woman around so he really doesn’t know what to say. The journey back to the retreat is delayed because the roads are blocked by snow. The snowstorm causes Ryder and Millie to walk to the closest place which is Ryder’s cabin. This is an adventure with drama, suspense, mystery, danger, fear, twists and turns, ups and downs and smoking hot passion, lust and so much hotness! It is spicy, sizzling and oh so-o-o good. It will not disappoint. It’s a page turner and the story continues up until the very last page. I loved it and I’m eager for the next one.

This Wild Weekend novel had a terrific story with the background of the MMA and Ryder being a famous MMA champion that dropped off the grid for some reason.

He picks up his sister’s friend at the airport but ends up taking her to his cabin instead of to his sister because of the weather. When he’s not ignoring her, he’s telling he she talks to much. She then talks more and the dance begins..

They are smoking hot together. There is a lot we don’t know about Ryder that prevents him from being open with Millie. I’m not going to spoil that for you, but Lexi Hart does a skillful job peeling away the layers of intrigue little by little to keep us up late and reading to the last page.

The ending is superb and I suggest you read this book for a nice escape.

This book is fantastic! A relaxing Christmas break goes horribly wrong when a broken ankle and the weather will keep Millie from getting to her friend Cindy's resort in Alaska. Millie ends up with Cindy's broody brother, Ryder, instead. He's a famous MMA fighter hiding from his coach and his past. The two butt heads but end up in each other's arms anyway. By the time Cindy is able to get Millie from Ryder's cabin, neither she nor Ryder are sure about her leaving. She won't make it far though. A picture of Ryder sent to her boss accidentally will bring Ryder's past to her and to Ryder's door. She will learn a little more of the truth but he will send her home, a bit hurt and unsure. Ryder will agree to one more fight and he will bring Millie to his hotel room under the pretense of a lawsuit against her regarding the photo in order to get the chance to tell her his true feelings for her.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Mille was not in the holiday spirit after her ex boyfriend dumps her. She had to take advantage of the opportunity to go to Alaska and see her best friend. Expecting Cindy and getting Ryder was not what she was prepared for when she stepped foot in Alaska. They have a rough start, but mother nature gives Mille and Ryder the chance to explore the sparks flying between them. It turns out that they both have baggage and have to decide if they will let the past hold them back from having a happy future. I enjoyed the storyline and characters in this book

Ryder has been a loner for a while and hates Christmas. When his sister asked him to show Millie around, he isn’t too happy about it. Millie was expecting her best friend to show up but she is surprised when it’s Ryder that appears. He is cranky, bitter and really doesn’t want to show Millie around. When they end up stuck together for the weekend will things change and will they be able to break down each other’s walls? Will it last more that just one weekend? I thought Lexi did a great job with this storyline and the characters. Plenty of angst and attitude but steam as well. This wild weekend series has been worth reading.

This is book thirteen of sixteen in the One Wild Weekend With series by Lexi Hart. It is a short read with about 150 pages.

Millie has been dumped by her boyfriend right before Christmas. While in Alaska, she meets her friend Cindy's brother, Ryder. A snowstorm comes in, and she is stuck at his cabin until she is rescued. Due to his reclusiveness, he has some adjustments he has to make in order to not be rude to her. How will their closeness affect them? Will he continue to be gruff or will he eventually melt?

When I first read the character description for Millie I thought she was going to be a stupid blonde type. I was wrong and glad I continued. Ryder is rough around the edges and Millie was the one to smooth those edges. She broke through his tough exterior and see him for who he truly is, a caring man. Millie never gave up on trying to push his buttons and to find his the personality. I loved the story and would to read more from the author.

This was again another fantastic book!
Lexi never disappoints!
I think Ryder is my favorite so far, a rough but sweet MMA fighter who struggles with his past and has to keep his sister’s friend Millie company until the snowstorm has faded.
I couldn’t put this book down, wanted to know what haunted him from his past, what will be their story.
The only thing I missed was some epilogue, but that’s just me.
A must read, I must say!

This is a short fast paced romance between Ryder and Millie. The author does a great job building the story and pulled me in right from the start. She brings strong characters and weaves an entertaining story with detailed and descriptive scenes. I loved watching Maddie break down Ryder's tough man shell to find the loving person he could be. I loved reading their story and would recommend this book.

Millie has issues and needs to take a break but gets injured while out and about. Ryder is being a stinker about doing the gentlemanly thing by helping. But when its gets cold and the resources are limited. Who needs body heat?? Raise your hand if that is the resource of your desire. Being in a Magyver state of mind this is the perfect solution. SOOOO why not let the good times roll. Read to figure out the rest of the adventure. No cliffhanger but it feels like it.

Ryder is a "retired" MMA fighter in hiding and Millie is his sister's friend who has come to review her retreat. They end up stranded together and although Ryder is gruff and unfriendly, end up connecting for the weekend they are together. Millie thinks of him when she leaves but will they reconnect? They are not supposed to but who knows? Great short novel and love this author.

Millie is having a terrible day as she gets dumped by her latest boyfriend she is now stuck in Alaska with her friends, brother who happens to be rude, grumpy, and exceptionally hot. Ryder has been hiding from the world for the past year in a cabin, but hasn’t told anyone the real reason why. Can these two get along, or will the isolation have Ryder crumbling to be with Millie. This was a surprising turn of events when all is revealed towards the last chapters of the book, definitely a shocker.

The author has pulled us into the lives of Ryder and Millie and never lets go. He has been hiding out in the mountains but when his sister begs for help picking her friend up at the airport, he helps even if it against his will. They end up stranded at his rustic cabin during a snowstorm and each will need to let down their walls if they want to be able to last the weekend together instead of driving each other crazy.

This steamy love-hate romance was a fast burn story with lots of angst and a suspenseful hidden past that Ryder does not want to share. Millie has lots of walls to break down in a short amount of time. This is the first book in the One Wild Weekend series that I have read, but it won’t be the last!

Another wild ride with Lexi Hart. I thoroughly enjoy this series that grabs me from the beginning and do not want it to end. Such a relaxing read, but includes the angst of secrets. Are they good or bad?
Ryder was an MMA fighter who had stopped and Millie was supposed to be a guest at his sisters resort. A snowstorm kept them secluded at his cabin until she could be rescued to return home. So much more, but you need to read for yourself.

Millie is not very happy when her boyfriend, instead of offering her an engagement ring ends up dumping her… by email. Trying to drown her sorrows at a bar, she ends up heading for Alaska to write a review for her former college roommate Cindy’s retreat on behalf of the travel magazine she works for. But instead of finding Cindy waiting for her and ready to commiserate the boyfriend disaster with her, she gets stuck with Cindy’s former MMA grouchy brother, Ryder, ready to escort her around since Cindy broke her ankle!

When Millie and Ryder have to spend some nights together at his isolated cabin due to the big snowstorm, he accidentally tells her why he hates Christmas. He might not be such an ogre after all! Is he finally able to open up to someone? You won’t see the shocker coming, so grab your copy and hang on tight!
