Apocalypse Z: Book 6 of The Rise of the Undead series is the final installment. Up until and including the final word, it kept me mesmerized. Not a spoiler, but there is resolution of the plot with the competing survivors before this final installment begins. Now, it is time to rebuild, but that was just a winter issue. New issues arise when the survivors set an eye toward rebuilding society. There are other groups of survivors, but when some of those stations go radio silent before commerce can be established, some latent fears surface. Now that the temperatures are warming in the eastern United States, vast migrations of the undead are traveling North and East. Hundreds of thousands of the undead are sweeping whole swaths of forests and towns into debris, making retreat a virtual impossibility. I enjoyed this entire series. I'm not at all disappointed that some favored characters do not survive, or do they? Higgins has a way with characterization, building suspense, and injecting pathos into most situations. The entire series is a High Recommendation.
It's always bot sad when a series I really enjoyed reading/listening comes to an end. It really sparked my love again for zombie apocalypse series. Good end to a great series!
Another fast, action packed read by Higgins. Tara, Dylan, and the rest of our fort find out that tens of thousands of zombies are headed their way. What will they and the rest of the our survivors do. Higgins packs a lot into this one and in a way that is understandable and wanted. Our characters continue to grow as they deal with relationships while also trying to handle the latest threat to their little section of life. I received a free ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Extraordinarily well written and action packed zombie apocalypse series
An exceptionally well written and action packed zombie Apocalypse story. A great cast of characters with a fast paced and entertaining story line. Series starts with an actual epidemiologist in the jungles of Africa tracking an outbreak. Even though she reports to her bosses at the WHO the bureaucracy above her ignores her warnings and reports. Soon the small outbreak in Africa spreads throughout the world and the zombie apocalypse begins. She fights her way with a group of African soldiers that was guarding her compound to get out of the jungles and reach someone she can report to. By the time she reaches A city where she can get transport the zombie apocalypse is in full swing. The team of soldiers drops one by one and by the time they reach an airport it is only her and the commander who she has befriended that are able to escape with her work in tow. She makes it back to America to try and continue her research as the zombie apocalypse rage is out of control. She is on a search to find a cure as well as a vaccine. Follow along as she meets many other characters and people good and bad along the way. You will fall in love with many of the characters as well as hate many of the bad characters. Some will survive some will not. Read on to find out what happens. You will not be disappointed.
So this is book 6 of what I thought was a 7 book series. However this is the final book. When you download the entire series it shows 7 books in the set so I don’t know if the prequel is supposed to be book 1 and then the following 6 books are actually books 2-7. Either way I was expecting there to be one more book. With that being said -
Another great book! Since this is the final book I’m sure you can guess the ending but I’m not going to spoil it for anyone. There were several character surprises for me in this book, with who died and who lived. I will say that some surprised me, on both sides. As usual, lots of action from start to finish. I do think k that was one thing the author did really well. Lots of times in multi-book series I get bored because it seems like the author gets bogged down into too many details but this series kept a pretty quick pace all the way through and I appreciated that. It really kept my interest from the beginning.
I really do wish there was one more book. More of a XX amount of years later kind of thing. It ends with a general overview but I’d have loved more insights into the characters that I came to know and love throughout the series. Also how does the rest of the world rebuilt? Since this is based in the US, we don’t ever really know how any place else faired.
What a way to finish! In series like this, you kind of expect to find an ending littered with dead bodies – and you get to read this to see if that happens here! It’s a great ending to a really readable series, and, like its predecessors, it keeps you turning the pages. I love Tara; there’s something about the way she’s written that truly appeals to me – but she’s only one of many outstanding characters in this series and this book. Baileigh Higgins has created an apocalyptic world that draws you in, with characters with which you can identify – can’t wait to read more of her worlds.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
So thanks to Baileigh for sending me codes for the audiobooks to the full series which I devoured on my holidays in Catalonia. I have been looking forward to reading this and it was even better to just chill in the morning and siesta time with my earbuds in. A solid 4 plus for the whole series.
More info at horrorscifibloodandgorebooks on Instagram sometime! Back in rainy miserable England now, so I'll do a review soon.
Apocalypse Z book 6 is the culmination to this series and it leaves you feeling exhausted. The characters in this series are the best and the way Baileigh uses her words to bring them to life is excellent. Book 6 is action filled as you would expect the final book to be. Anyone who has started this series must get book 6 and find out what lies in wait for the World versus Zombies.
This is a great conclusion to the omnibus edition I have to this series. I loved the writing style, the characters and the plot. Some die, some don’t, and it’s the suspense that kept me guessing. I liked Dylan the best out of all the characters because she was tough, vulnerable and accepted her flaws.
An action packed finale which also gave us closure on the story lines. Leaves you in a happy position that you don’t feel like there needs to be more in the series. Although you wouldn’t be upset if there was more.
I’m looking forward to reading more by the author.
.....ending to another fantastic series by Baileigh Higgins!!!! Love the new character (no spoilers... LOL)!!!!!! Can't wait to see what she comes out with next!!!!!! Thanks, Baileigh, for keeping us so well entertained!!!!!!
This was a fast pace action filled thrill ride! Very satisfying ending to a great Series. Thank you for not seeing the need to kill everyone off. Get the books and leave your reviews. Thank you for using KU.
All the human foes have been defeated but horrific news reach Fort Detrick. Tens of thousands of the undead march in their direction. Tara, Dylan, Alex and the others face their greatest battle. An amazing final to this very entertaining series !
Baileigh creates great characters that come to life with each new chapter. As you read the story your transported to the fight for your life. Her descriptions put you right in the middle of the cities, towns & forests.
This has to be one of the most action packed, nerve wracking Zombie apocalypse book I have read! Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat and to be sad also but also happy
I'm happy that the story is back on track. I didn't enjoyed the last one. Too girly for my own taste. I just didn't like the ending: again, too girly for my own taste. But the story was good.
Excellent end to a very entertaining series. I hate to see these characters go. This conclusion was very suspenseful, some good characters were lost and the battle scenes were intense. Definitely recommend.
Book 6 is a great ending of a fabulous apocalyptic series that you almost hate to see finish. Great characters and lots of action from start to finish. Baileigh Higgins is a master of the genre.
Another exciting fast paced story in this great zombie apocalyptic series! Good plot progression, new characters & good ideas! I lied it alot! I do recommend this writer!!
I enjoyed book 6 even better than book 5. I thought it had a lot of zombie action at the end and what they had to go through to try to kill thousands a pond thousands of zombies. Great story.
All these books are exciting. You just can't wAit to start the next one after you have finished reading the last one. Thoroughly enjoyed reading all the series.
