The Blind Dead Ride Out of Hell: A Literary Tribute to the Amando de Ossorio Films

Rate this book
In the early to mid 1970s, Spanish director Amando de Ossorio created a quadrology of films involving the resurrected eyeless corpses of Templar Knights aka THE BLIND DEAD. These films may have suffered from low budgets, but more than made up for it with creepy atmosphere and iconic creatures that have retained their ability to strike terror in the hearts of horror fans nearly five decades on. St Rooster Books is proud to present this literary tribute to Ossorio's beloved creations. Featuring new original stories by Paul Lubaczewski, Sam Richard, Heather Drain, Mark Zirbel, Jeremy Lowe, and Tim Murr, with an introduction by Diabolique Magazine's Jerome Reuter.

So there are monsters needing more exploration and the Blind Dead definitely fit the bill! Good stories all- particularly liked Sight of the Blind Dead (great dive into the past), Time Has Come Today, and Red Shadows of the Blind Dead.

I love the backstory and the topic of this book. So many individual stories told about the blind dead with different insights. I didn't put it down.

Certainly uneven, but for fans of the unique original quadrilogy of films by Ossorio this will present some fun short stories. Some tales transplant the Knights, essentially as is, to other places in the world, some use them to help meditate on grief, some do something different, but I can't imagine a fan of the films won't find something here to, ahem, feast on.
