The stunning conclusion to the first arc of the epic LitRPG fantasy adventure…
The Game advances, and the gods continue their relentless pursuit. Day by day, Kyran gets stronger, both in his own power, and the allies he gathers around him. Will he be ready to face the wrath of the gods when it descends upon him?
And will he choose the right allies? Enter the world of Myelad to find out where Kyran’s journey takes him!
There is no conclusion in this story there is no closing of any arc. There is abandoning of a story arc because the author didn't know how to close the arc. After what was suppose to be an epic battle all the mc could do was report that he got half his forces killed and then ran for his life, got captured, escaped, got captured again, escaped, and then got captured again end of story oh and a to be continued line with zero ending to the story arc. Lame.
The summary of the previous books at the beginning of this book was immensely helpful. I honestly couldn’t remember what happened in them due to the length of time between reading the previous book and this one. My thanks to the author.
In the middle of the book, the dragon who is helping Eld return told Kyran’s location to one of the gods. That made me mad. I couldn’t understand why he was doing it. The why became clear by the end of the book, but it was still frustrating.
The frequent character viewpoint shifts were a little distracting.
I thought the way Kyran defeated Xetil’s champion was really clever.
The blurb for this book says it is the conclusion to this story. It felt incomplete though. Kyran’s goal of taking down the gods was never realized. The book ends with a note saying that Kyran’s journey will continue in a new series. I think the reason for this is because Kyran needs to get stronger in order to take on the gods. But the rate at which Kyran is growing stronger is so slow. His development as a character feels like it has stalled.
Sara’s death was disappointing. I felt like her death was almost utterly meaningless. I did like how she decided to take her fate into her own hands, but it felt like she was just a character that the author needed to kill off because he couldn’t figure out what else to do with her.
Overall, I thought this book was okay, but it felt...lacking. I just wanted something to happen in this story. I kept expecting Kyran to go after his goal of defeating the gods but he never did. I kept looking at how much I had left in the book and thinking, “Okay, come on. Let’s get this show on the road.” But nothing happened. Kyran was running from a god’s champion at around 90%, leading them away from his settlement, but then he was captured by Sara. Then the champion caught up and Sara’s forces fought them. And then another group of people from another god come and defeat the champion and rescue Kyran. During this entire fight, Kyran is sitting in a ditch with magical shackles on that restrict his use of magic. It was disappointing.
I just finished all 5 books in the first arc of this series and I absolutely loved them all, lots of excitement and many interesting characters. I found the many battles to be interesting and the use of the characters spells and abilities well used. I also loved the involvement of many wild beasts in the story as well as many non-human characters. Very well written Rohan M. Vider, thank you for many hours of entertainment and I look forward to reading the second arc to this series!
I have to say that when I finished Sovereign I had hops that the next book was all ready out and was extremely happy to see that it was and like a kid who can't wait to get a new toy I'm now waiting patiently for the next book. Tbh I started reading this book because it seemed interesting and so I didn't think much of it after I started...only to finish the series to this point in 3 days of on and off reading so without further to do, keep up the great work.
It was a very enjoyable read, the Eldervale battle was a tad drawn out but it ended well and the battles their after we're more streamlined and conclusive which was excellent😁 Sara's part was better than I hoped, I won't bore you with my expectations but this is more pleasant than I had hoped for. The next part has me thinking of all the possibilities and what next... Very fun!
What a great read. Well paced with page turning filling that keeps you glued. It’s so well done and all the twists and turns are so neatly tied up by the end that even Houdini couldn’t escape.
There are a couple of wee errors but they are so few they don’t matter as the characters and world is so well done you can miss them if you’re not OCD like me.
Been waiting for this and it didn’t disappoint. Well written with several climactic point coming to a head though our MC is still under powered it makes sense and I’m glad he doesn’t just jump right in with the best in the game already. But I definitely like the new direction and storylines.
Please do not take long for the next book! These stories are great! The MC uses his mind to solve problems, he seems to be learning though still makes some of the same mistakes it is getting fewer and fewer. I can’t wait for the next book!
What I like for longer series... is completed arcs that have beginnings, middles, and ends... and this book and the 4 before it accomplished that well. I’m excited to see where the series turns in the next arc, and enjoyed the 5 books before.
Still in need of editorial work thou. There’s no need for the main character to have a crisis of conscience at every turn including the middle of battles...
I like the realistic way the author builds escalating difficulty into the storyline. Good character development and wordlbuilding also contribute to a great read.
Once again this series with this book has advanced a story that is both full of action but great characters and a sense of suspense that leaves you wanting more.
First of all, I still enjoy the story that’s the best part of the book. The bad part is that the MC after five books is still at level 38, not even level 50. Still can’t hold his own against other characters in the book, what is he a meat shield. There could be less stats and more storytelling. Could’ve wound up this arc with more pages of story and less pages of stats. some people don’t like OP characters, some of us don’t like underpowered characters. I can understand trial and tribulation, and fighting as an underdog, but the MC needs more abilities and more power. After all, he has all the baddies in the book going up against him. Right now his odds seem insurmountable. nobody wants to continuously read about a character who keeps running away. Give the MC enough abilities to fight back on his own. Like I said, the story is good, but the execution is bad.
How does a 5 volume set not wrap anything up? We had more new characters enter in the last 30% of this book than you can believe.
5 books and instead of wrapping it up, we get nothing. Nada.
Incredibly disappointing. And NOW the author is off to another series. Catch you later. Maybe. I guess.
Spoiler alert. We waste dozens of pages with player updates that really break the fourth wall. You just leave the story to scroll past meaningless player trait/skill improvements to finally get back to the story. Oh, and our hero never does get to a high enough rank where other advanced player skills aren't hidden from him.
I enjoyed the story, but feel like a real sucker as this was presented as a 5 book set. It isn't. The story is FAR from over if the author ever gets around to finishing it.
I like most of what Vider is doing in his series. There are a couple of things that bother me, the MC is constantly looking for power, but every time he is handed loot, he just puts it in his inventory. It would take like a few minutes to look at the loot, and then equip it if its better for him. I guess I am more of a gamer, than Kyran is trying to gain power, loot equals power too, not just abilities and skills.
Most of the story is well written-- as well as any of the series. But the choice of the heir to the throne and power and domain seems almost random. Anybody, in the top ten characters would have been better. Though the choice IS the most politically correct. I'm disappointed.
Rather underwhelming unfortunately. An inconclusive and rather unsatifying conclusion of the story. The whole Sara arc was for nothing and the MC spends most of the time running away, getting saved by plot armor and getting arrested several times.. Even the cliff hanger is rather dull. I am not sure if i will continue reading the new series. I really hoped for more..
