My third book in the series and BOY it was once again superduper adorable~


It this one we meet Splash, a tiny little mermaid who lives in a big palace. Though for most of the book we don’t see her near the palace, she is having all the adventures and I was so happy I could swim along with her and see all the fun she had in the 10 minutes before bedtime. And just like all the other books it seems like 10 minutes stretches out really far given all these little kids get up to. In this one our little one pets a couple of adorable turtles, flees from a shark, swims with a shoal of fish, and so much more. Definitely the best 10 minutes ever! Love that the shark was added to show that while underwater is all fun, there are also dangers.

Loved that everyone was telling her how long she still had. From her grandfather’s voice in the deep to the fish she swims with. I didn’t find it annoying as I thought I would have when we got it the first two times. In fact I found it cute. And loved that Splash was cramming as much fun as she could before she would sleep.

The ending was just so sweet and just like all the others, I am glad that the kids also understand that sleep is something important! That after a day of playing it is good to just lie down and have great dreams!

The art, WOW, again, WOW, I just love the style and with each book I love it more and more. The colours are just fab, and I love how the characters are drawn.

All in all, highly recommend once again. I will be buying some more books in this series very soon. I need all the books! I need more cute!

It's almost time for bed and Splash the mermaid wants to have all the adventures she can in the 10 minutes till bedtime. But did she have one adventure too many?

At first I thought Splash was being rebellious not coming to bed immediately, but she makes it back by the time she is told to be there (and even has to go to extra effort to do so after she runs into some trouble). The whole ocean helps her keep track of how many minutes she has left, counting down from 10 to 1. Her adventures are fun and colorful, and will enchant little readers who maybe wish they could swim with some fish right before bed.

M has recently gotten very into mermaids, so this was a perfect fit for her. I like the illustrations and that the mermaids have a variety of skin and hair colors. The rhymes are pretty well done. I would give it a full five stars based on M's enjoyment (she wanted to read it three times in a row after we borrowed it) however I like it slightly less now that I know it's part of a series. So far we've read Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Dinosaur, and I think this one is better.

We are so proud of you for reading "Little Mermaid" all by yourself! What a wonderful story about being brave and curious about the world around you.
The little mermaid teaches us that it's okay to dream big and explore new things, even when they feel scary or different. You can use this in your life by trying new things at school, making new friends, and asking questions when you want to learn something.

I just read the Dinosaur one in this series, and I had no idea there were so many! I'll have to read the other ones :)

A cute book with a 10 minute countdown with Splash the mermaid squeezing all the adventure left into those 10 minutes before bedtime. A great one for a bedtime story with beautiful illustrations and rhyming text.

A beautifully illustrated countdown to bedtime following a little mermaid as she gets ready for bed. Not the most complex story, but the map at the beginning is gorgeous and I think it would be easy to make up lots of your own stories with your little one using that for inspiration.

Good art and good colours. Lots of Finding Nemo references, if you want to read this. Try to spot the clownfish that follows Splash the mermaid.
