Pero al entrar en casa, descubre el cadáver de un hombre en el suelo. Lo que más intriga a Poirot sobre el caso es el factor tiempo: mientras Sheila recuerda claramente haber escuchado un reloj marcar las 3, los otros cuatro relojes de la sala marcaban las 4.13. Y lo que era aún más extraño, solamente uno de estos relojes pertenecía al dueño de la casa...
