This was so cute, so much fun, and I'm excited to see how the story will progress and be wrapped up in volume 2! We follow a space explorer who is also a princess, her talking cat sidekick and their baking-obsessed robot on their space adventures which among others leads them to discover a rainbow unicorn fuelled by pure energy (or electrical appliances if the former is not available), a Golden Fawn (a statue that will compliment you whenever possible) and something that looks like a massive danger to the universe being covered up by the Government.
Wonderful first instalment of a two-part series! I'd peg this as a space opera in the best possible sense. It has a fast-paced story with a lot of action and intrigue, and little rest for our two protagonists. There is witty dialogue, adorable characters and references to pop culture (Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Carribean). In general, I'd say some of the style is inspired by cinema more than comic books (e.g. the happy no-dialogue shopping sequence). The artwork is lush yet clear, and has the most tasteful and beautiful vivd colours and compositions. There are many cute and smart ideas, an attention to details, and some good puns as well. Recommended for everyone!
This story is amazing!! The illustrations are a delight. If you liked the Lunar Chronicles, you will enjoy this series, though series targets a younger crowd than YA. Great for kids and adults. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series being released!
