If you like dominant alpha bad boys, sexual tension so thick you can cut it with a knife, and all the steamy angst you can handle in 1 second chance romance, “Preacher” is on his way to give you what you need. The 1st in a #newseries of interconnected standalones, “Preacher” will give you ALL the feels.

SYNOPSIS:

My preacher absolved no sins, because he was the sinner.

Lyric:
They say that you should give your heart away to the right guy, but mine was taken from me ten years ago, the moment Preacher moved into town and sent a blast wave through my life. He was my walking contradiction—gentle eyes set in a hardened face, an angel and an uncaged beast, mesmerizing good looks and terrifying ferocity, my savior and my destroyer.

When he disappeared senior year he broke me like so much fragile glass. I thought I’d moved on from what happened between us, but now he’s reappeared out of nowhere, upending my life and reminding me that I can never break his hold over me.

Preacher:
I was trouble with a capital T—the guy your mom warned you to stay away from because he’d ruin you. She was right. I had no business being with a girl like Lyric—it was against all the rules—but when the hell have I ever followed other people’s rules?

Never.

She was beautiful, delicate, and oh so breakable. I was forceful, aggressive, and cocky as hell. Ten years ago fate split us apart. But now I’m back, here in New York, to remind Lyric of what she knows deep down but has always tried to deny.

That she’s mine, and she always will be.

Second chance romance is a hit or miss with me. Preacher is a homerun. Christopher Harlan wrote a Flawless Story with Two POVs, Preacher & Lyric, between past and present. I dove in deep with this book; I couldn't put it down.

Lyric and Preacher are destined to be together since high school. Events happened, and Preacher had to leave town without saying goodbye. Both never forgot about each other and never fully moved on.

Ten years later, Preacher has returned and put his plan forward to get Lyric back. Both are different, but in many ways, the same. Preacher and Lyric’s feelings for the other are just as strong, if not stronger. Of course, Lyric is skeptical and wants answers.

Lyric is one smart heroine and realistic. She knows he is dangerous for her heart, but as much as she fights her feelings, She still loves him. Preacher knows what he wants, is unapologetic for his actions to win her back. Let me tell you, some of the things he does are too funny. Preacher is a true alpha, confident, domineering, and intense. He is also loving and giving. I love the character growth between these two. They both see each other for who they are.

The secrets from the past still threaten their future. The suspense from it will keep you turning the pages. The heartbreak, love, lust, and steam is just top-notch. I loved it and can't wait for Pope.

Christopher weaved the past with the present for a seamless story that pulled on the heart and gave you the perfect picture of Lyric and Preachers love story.

The story was a gritty and angsty with lots of steamy moments. It was raw emotion fueled by love and family bonds that gave the story the wow factor. The events felt real and relatable and made for a great book.

An amazing story filled with emotion, heart and redemption. It will leave you breathless and wanting more. I can not wait for Pope's story.

WOW! Starting with this, once I started reading I couldn't put it down...yes it's one of those stories! I love learning about the characters, I feel it can make the story better, and this this one give you present and past and does it in a way that works real good. I have to admit his attitude at times was annoying but then he'd do something and he'd redeem himself. They're a great couple finding their way back with a great supporting cast! I can't wait for Pope's story and I so hope that Kennedy and Jess get ones because we need to know what happens to them!

Preacher was the perfect alpha who left me swooning and charging through this incredible second chance romance. I loved this read so much and read it straight through. I felt the story had the perfect pace and fed the backstory to me in perfect increments that mixed well with the present times.

Hands down my favorite read from this author

WOW........ that was freaking amazing. This was my first book I read by Author Christopher Harlan, and it was captivating. This book has all the feels you can imagine and more!!! I couldn't put this book down it really was fantastic from beginning to end. It's told in dual point of view, past and present it was seamlessly well done!
Lucien and Lyric were such complex characters, broken childhood, scarred deep inside that you couldn't help but fall in love with right away! I just wanted to reach out and hug them!
I am so looking forward to the next books from this series Pope (Preacher's brother) Kennedy (Lyric's best friend) and we can't underestimated the brilliant Jess (Lyric's twin sister) my goodness those were some great characters so much to come.
I hands down recommend this book, you have to read it!!!
No cliffhangers, and HEA!

ARC was given by Author ... Thank so much 😍

I have read over 150 books this year and some truly fantastic books and Preacher is one of those books. It will be on my " Best Reads of 2020" list. Lyric and Preacher are characters that stay with you long after you finish. As soon as I finished I knew I would never be able to adequately express how amazing this book was in my review. Plus I don't want to give anything away you need to experience this book without spoilers.
Their story expands ten years from when they met as seniors in high school and briefly dated to when he abruptly appeared again ten long years later. It is told in past and present POV's which will help the reader understand why and how they become who they are in the future. Their journey was compelling, emotional, with drama, anger, hate, frustration, humor, friendship, family, passion and love. Both of their families were broken in there own way yet their sibling bond was strong. Their journey will draw you in the best way possible and stay with you long after you finished. The secondary characters Pope, Kennedy and Jess will steal your heart and hot dauumm I can't wait for Pope's book.🔥

Now my favorite quote from the book:
******************************
Why me?
“Because when I first saw you, I knew that you were broken,” he told me. “But even with a soul shattered into a thousand pieces, you were still the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen in my life. And I couldn’t wait to see what you looked like when you were put back together again.”

I just laughed and looked down at the ground. “What’s funny?” he asked. “Nothing,” I told him. “It’s just that I felt the exact same way about you.”
****************************
Ahhh man really just grab this book as soon as you can! It's out November 15th. I want to scream and tell everyone all about this book but I can't you need to read it for yourself!!!!!!

I received an ARC from the author for my honest review.

This is my first Christopher Harlan book and I have to say that I have been missing out!

A small town with a divide between the west end and the east end, the have and have nots, sets the tone for this gritty and emotional second chance romance. Add in a determined sexy alpha and I couldn’t stop reading!

Inexplicably drawn to each other as teens, Preacher and Lyric were destined to be together, until he disappeared. Through the heartache and pain, they never forgot. Ten years later, they meet again...different but the same and their feelings are just as strong.

Preacher has come for what’s his, and as much as Lyric wants to fight it, he’s her addiction. He’s dangerous to her heart, he’s her deepest desire, just as she is his. With emotions raw...hate, love, lust, passion...the secrets and choices from the past continue to threaten their future.

Preacher is unapologetic asshole! He’s intense, dangerous and one hell of a dirty talker. Lyric sees who he really is, always has, and through her eyes, we see that too.

This was a captivating story with unforgettable characters, all the feels and extreme heat...loved it, a must read!

The ultimate good girl/bad boy love story filled with emotional overload and just enough angst just to make the reader need to turn the page - and let me tell you - I was turning them VERY quickly. Lyric and Preacher had a connection to last a lifetime and even though it has been years since they had seen each other it felt like they were never apart. But when old wounds could keep them from staying together the fight begins and what a fight it is. This was my first book by Christopher Harlan but it will not be my last. With beautifully written characters the reader cannot help but fall in love with this was a fantastic read.

“ if bad ideas had their own Olympic Games, this one would be the gold medal in every event, hands down”- Kennedy

They say you never get over your first love , Especially when they come back .

This book brought out all those first time butterflies and goosebumps..the devastation you feel when it’s over.. Lyric struggled hard after Preacher left( without any warning or reason) .. I could only imagine falling in love and feeling abandoned..

It seems as though when she finally is getting to the good spot in her life, where she maybe could find someone else, Preacher comes back and he’s ready to get what is his ..

“ there are a lot of guys who can make you feel good, but only a precious few who can make you feel good about yourself”- Jess

Preacher should have know it wasn’t going to be as easy as he thought and he should have been prepared.. Lyric was cracking me up with her inner dialogue.. she wants to resist their bond but I could have told her how that was going to go ..

This book took me on their journey.. with Lyric trying to move on with her life and Preacher waiting for the right time to see her again ..

“Because when I first saw you, I knew that you were broken”. “ but even with a soul shattered into a thousand pieces, you were still the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen in my life, and I couldn’t wait to see what you looked like when you were put back together again “- Preacher

This is the first book I have read by Author Christopher Harlan and I have to say it was so captivating, I really could not get enough. For a second chance romance with steam , it was absolutely perfect .. full of angst and half truths I don’t think we know everything yet . I am so looking forward to Popes book .. I have a feeling who is going to be his downfall .. I hope I’m right ..

The story is intense with angst and sexual tension between Preacher and Lyric. I think the author has done a good job when he creates the plot because it is so smooth while he shuffles both the present and the past in it and he makes me feel intriguing by Preacher's reason to leave. But after reading for a while I feel confusing because I am so sure that some stories Lyric has been told by Preacher before but maybe she doesn't remember. Besides, I don't impressed by Lyric's attitude and personality much. I feel like with her career, she should be more reasonable than this so I decide to give it 4 stars and I can't wait for reading Pope's story.

PHENOMENAL! Amazing second chance romance.
What an amazing second chance story. You've heard the saying opposites attract right? Talk about your upper East side vs lower east side and this book has it all. From the rich knowing they have pull to the poor who fight to take what's theirs and protect those in between. Lyric and Preacher have this undeniable chemistry from the moment they lay eyes on each other. The only problem is the rich kids have it out for Preacher from the get go. Things seem to happen around town and the cops continue to follow Preacher without reason. Which causes him to just up and leave with out a word to anyone about the reasons why. This breaks Lyric deeply. Fast forward years later and Preacher comes storming back into her life. Those strong feeling for each other are still there. Lyric now has so many questions for Preacher. When she does finally get those answers they were not what she was expecting. This book pulls at your heart strings. I laughed, I cried, I got frustrated, but I loved this book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Christopher Harlan wrote another phenomenal book. Deserves way more than 5 stars.

I love a good second-chance romance and Preacher gave me that with an enticing plotline spanning years. Preacher and Lyric have an instant connection far deeper than physical attraction. They immediately just get each other, partly due to past tragedies. While Lyric falls hard and fast for Preacher thinking of their future, Preacher leaves, trying to protect his family. Though he knows that Lyric will be in his life again someday.

Lyric is devastated by Preacher's disappearance. Her entire life is shaped from that heartbreak so it's quite a surprise when he turns back up 10 years later. He's still the boy she fell for but he's also much more. Preacher knows he has some making up to do just as strongly as he knows Lyric belongs to him. As long as his past demons don't ruin his plans...

This is my first Christopher Harlan book and I'll be back. Preacher is a captivating story with drawing characters and I'm excited to see what happens next. 5 stars for Preacher!

A swoon-worthy second chance romance you didn't know you needed!

There is no way I'm going to be able to write a review that does this book justice, but I am going to try!

You know, it's been a long time since a book has actually left me speechless. And I've never had a book hangover before. But that's exactly what this book did to me. I feel it down to my very soul and everything this book made me feel actually exhausted me. But in a good way, if that makes sense.

Christopher Harlan has always had a way with words, a very gifted and talented writer that knows how to captivate his readers and leave them wanting more. I've read many of his books and have fallen in love with every one of them. This book was no different. But then again, it was.

This story was raw and gripping. It was emotional and captivating. It squeezed my heart and then punched me right in the stomach, leaving me breathless and wanting more. These characters were perfectly flawed, which made them so much easier to relate to, a Preacher was perfectly frustrating in which I shared in Lyric's dilemma in not knowing whether to love him or hate him. (obviously I love him, but that's besides the point).

If you love second-chance romances, punch in the gut feels, sexual tension that will set your kindle on fire, this is definitely the book for you and I HIGHLY recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars!

I have received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review. Let me just start by saying this is the first book I have read by Christopher Harlan, but won't be my last! Also that cover, oh my gosh, don't mind me fanning myself over here. So this book is written in dual form between main characters preacher and Lyric. This book jumps between two time frames, the present and 10 years ago. I just loved lyric she was always trying to help someone. Preacher puts up a tough front but he is kind of a softy. I would classify this book as a second chance love story. I dont want to give to much away. Lyric and Preacher meet in high school, they are both immediately drawn to each other. Something rips them apart for ten years, neither one of them has fully moved on from the other, their chemistry is on fire. The only thing I would have liked more from this book is getting to see more into the past when preacher had to walk away, I really want to feel the heartbreak they went through. This was a fantastic read.

What do you have when you read a book about people who are total opposites yet drawn to each other like a moth to the flame? Preacher by Christopher Harlan is the answer.

Lyric, the beautiful unassuming moth, and Preacher, the captivatingly dangerous flame, collide head-on in this gripping tale of lost teenage love and second chances. Never were two people more destined to meet again and get the answer to that age old question: why?

Will their teenaged love be enough to overcome the pain of their past and the struggles of their present?

Follow Lyric and Preacher as they face hurdle after hurdle to find out if love is the strongest force.

My new favorite book by Christopher Harlan! I just love Preacher; who he was and who he came to be. His intensity along with his softer side make him irresistible. Lyric is a girl who's forever changed by Preacher, both as a teenager and again as an adult. I love how their story begins, how they go their separate ways, and then how their lives are intersected again. A wonderfully written story with a great storyline that makes you question the characters while learning about them. I'm going to guess there is another one coming and I can't wait for it!

5 glowing stars for Preacher

Preacher, Christopher Harlan's latest upcoming novel is amazing! If you follow my reviews, you will notice that he is a favorite of mine and I've read almost all of the books in his catalog. That being said, Preacher is my favorite thus far.
If you are familiar with his work, you will see that the topic of psychology is never far behind - in fact, in this story, he brings back Dr. Cordelia Summers, a character from his NYC's Finest series, Calem. The heroine, Lyric, is a very successful Psychologist.
Unlike his other stories, this particular novel takes place in both the past and the present. Christopher did an amazing job organizing the chapters in a way that flowed well and increased the tension throughout... I found myself holding my breath between chapter, the tension was insane.
Now let's get to the good parts, Preacher... what can I say about him, well...
1. He's mine, I licked it and you can't have him - now that that's done...
2. He is broody, moody and all the other things we love to see in a male lead.
3. He comes as a set. His brother Pope is just as badass as his brother.
4. I've never wanted to know someone's real name as much as I did in this story.

I can't wait until the next story in the East End Boys series. I can already tell it is going to be good.

Favorite Quote: “...when I first saw you, I knew that you were broken”

Fantastic read. I loved the dynamic between Lyric and Lucien from their past relationship to their present. Sparks still fly between the two of them and continue to smolder throughout this story. Second chances aren't always successful, but when it's real, it's meant to last a lifetime. Cannot wait for Pope's story as well...promise us we'll get glimpses of Lyric and Preacher again please ;-) 5 stars.

Christopher Harlan has done it again!
He’s written another Fantastic story that will be added to my Favorites of 2020!

Preacher!(Lucien Carter) is the perfect Alpha male!
His loyalty to his family and his love for Lyric his old high school flame has no limits.

In this story you will look into the past and see what Preacher and Lyric has to go through to become the people they are today and what challenges the present has in store for them.

So much fun to read!

I can’t wait for Pope’s story!

Lyric and Preacher are exactly like a match and kerosene. Two completely devastating objects that call like sirens to chaos. Alone they have all the potential to become a brilliant fire, but together they are a blaze so intensely strong that you never want to see an end to the mesmerizing heat.
Lyric fell for Preacher the moment she laid eyes on him, Preacher was a moth to her light.
Both share the hardships of trying to get through being teens in a world full of "only the strongest survive" and "eat or beat eaten" mentalities. But, the bond they formed together has the world around them fading out and the universe zeroing in on only them. When a decision needs to be made, Preacher leaves Lyric shattered and falling back to the world she forgot, alone.
Years later Lyric finds herself dealing with things that remind her of her past. Of Preacher. What she doesn't realize is HE never forgot about her and he is coming to collect on a promise made too many years back, too many hurt and devastating hours lost. He won't walk away empty handed, but can time change the wants that whisper like nightmares everytime you close your eyes? Or does it only sit like the embers of the remembered blaze, waiting for the fuel to be thrown on ten fold?

I'm a girl that ultimately longs for a HEA and a sucker for angst. The things you receive in each new chapter, unfold like the best kind of present. Layered, heavy and leaving no room for small glimpses of what might be.

I did received this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Anything I write in my reviews is truth for my opinion and can be compared to reviews given on other novels. No one wants to read a story, only to be mislead. As far as I'm concerned you'll make no mistakes picking this one up to read.

Anytime Christopher Harlan shows on my kindle its an automatic read ASAP. Just with this cover you know Preacher is going to be one of those men you just can't forget.

Preacher is a man that doesn't take no for a answer. Unfortunately he had to say no to something he really wanted in high school Lyric. Lyric knew since young he was the one for her. He has owned her completely since the first day they met. I can't wait for Pope book and Jess Lyrics twin book she desperately she needs one.

I expected it to be steadier and more sex scenes maybe its just me lol being greedy.

Senior year of high school Lyric meets Preacher and they both find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. They both can't seem to stay away from each other and spend all their time together . . . until one day Lyric finds herself waking up and Preacher isn't there. He is gone without a word . . . Ten years later Lyric finds herself face to face with Preacher again and despite all her protests she can't deny Preacher's pull.

This book went back and forth between past and present and I loved all of it. For me I enjoyed jumping between the past and present. This can be done horribly but in this book I felt it was done really well. I loved seeing the little bread crumbs from the past and how it played out in present time. I liked to see what Preacher and Lyric were going through and then trying to reconcile their past with the present. I liked watching Preacher fall all over again and try and redeem himself for abandoning Lyric. But I think what my favorite thing about this book was that you were put through the gamut of feelings - you felt the anger, the hurt, the frustration, the passion, the love and I even laughed out loud a few times. I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the next one in this series. Well done CH, well done.

"Alright. One drink. Do with me what you will."
"Those are dangerous words to say to me."
"I know Lucien. Everything about you is dangerous."

I never re-read a book. But, holy hell am I re-reading this one over and over and over! I don't think I'll ever get enough of Preacher!! Gah!! That swagger, that arrogance, and Lord help me, that filthy mouth!!

What a great second chance story!! The dangerous boy who up and left without a word is now back 10 years later and is now all........deliciously manly - but just as dangerous. But one thing is clear. He is not letting her go again, that's for sure. And Lyric? Despite the heartbreak he caused her back then, she just knows that she belongs with him.

I'll tell you, as you learn more about the story behind Lucient "Preacher" Carter, what he went through, and why he left, I think I actually heard my heart break in to splintering pieces. Lucien has taken top billing on my book boyfriend list, hands down.

You won't want to miss this one, believe me. This author is just amazing and has such a way to draw you in to the story and make you fall head over heels with his characters. Loved, loved, loved this story!
