From the USA Today bestselling master of small-town sagas comes the second installment in the Blue Harbor series—a second-chance romance about finding love when you least expect it. Amelia Conway spent the past twelve years doting on her widowed father and playing mother hen to her younger sisters—and conveniently hiding her heart from love after her high school sweetheart moved away. Now the owner of a charming café, she realizes she has no excuse to shy away from the possibility of a happily ever after, and not just because her family doesn’t need her so much anymore. Amelia’s first love has returned to Blue Harbor, and suddenly the summer looks full of more than sunshine. Matt Bradford never felt settled after leaving his hometown, but his fondness for it is overshadowed by the reasons behind his family losing their business. Now an architect, Matt is back in Blue Harbor to pitch a full-service resort that will not only secure his future, but also right past wrongs. But he didn’t expect to meet resistance along the way, or to discover that he still has feelings for his old girlfriend. Leave it to Amelia to remind him of the boy he used to be—and the memories he has tried to forget. When Matt’s plans clash with Amelia’s beloved café, she will have to convince him that Blue Harbor is perfect just as it is, and that maybe, there can be a second chance for both of them to find lasting happiness in this town.

In deze miste ik echt een beetje de chemistry van de small town romance. Daar was het eerste deel veel beter in. Dit verhaal voelt een beetje incompleet.
Olivia Miles writes beautiful stories of family, love, and small town charm. I especially enjoy the Blue Harbor series because it is set in Michigan where I have lived all my life. Her characters are warm, each with strengths and weaknesses. You find yourself cheering for each of the sisters. My only complaint is trying to keep any and all changes from happening. Each sister, despite their mother's early death, should have been encouraged to explore life beyond Blue Harbor. Further, are there really any small towns that remain totally the same? Somehow, this is one aspect of the series that is a bit farfetched.
This is a heartwarming story of second chances, not giving up, moving forward, and recognizing that sometimes change isn’t bad. I am very much enjoying my time in Blue Harbor and getting to know the Conways and their friends and relatives. I look forward to my next visit.
While the first book in this series focused on the relationship of Britt and Robbie, this book focused on Amelia and Matt. While I really liked the first book, it was very hard for me to get into this book. The story was just not as captivating as normal and Olivia Miles is one of my favorite authors, it was a slow read and I am hoping book 3 is more exciting.
What a feel good story! I really enjoyed this tale along with the characters and the plot. I really hate that I have to wait until August to get the next installment though. So looking forward to it.
Second Chance Summer by Olivia Miles is the second book in the Blue Harbor series, set during the summer in the quaint lakeside town in Blue Harbor. The community is small and close-knit, the kind of place where news travels fast among neighbors, and charm is present with the towns cute storefronts, Victorian buildings, and family owned small businesses. I love to get cozy and read any book by Olivia Miles and I especially like the theme in this series, each book devoted to one of the Conway sisters. The Firefly Cafe is Amelia Conway’s pride and joy and not just because she enjoys cooking delicious seasonal food and engaging with patrons, but also because it holds memories of her dearly departed Mother. When Matt Bradford comes back to town with big plans for a resort he designed for Blue Harbor, Amelia is less than impressed with its cold architecture yet having her first and only love back in town gives her a feeling of hope for a second Chance together, which overshadows the possibility of a big resort in her lovely unique town. And it won’t really affect her own business, right? Matt had no choice in leaving Blue Harbor all those years ago, just a teenager following his parents in the wake of losing their antique business and home, but having his resort plans approved now will finally give him the satisfaction of leaving this town on top rather than defeated. But the town mayor has another idea for the perfect site for Matt’s resort and it’s got Matt tied up in knots because it could break any hope of a second chance with Amelia, the girl he never forgot about. Both Amelia and Matt have dealt with change and defeat in the past and both are tired of losing things, including each other. Will they find their way to a second chance...together? This is a sweet summer story you won’t want to put down. Happy Reading!
