This story grabs you right from the beginning. You feel Josie's desperation, Caleb's kind heart, and their immediate attraction to each other. It's obvious, especially once you know what he does for a living, that he likes helping people. And while that may be what initially started things moving in this case, it's so much more. He knows it. She knows it. We know it.

She seems to have this magic ability to calm him. Now, that's not to say he doesn't continue to struggle with his own demons, or that she doesn't have her own, but there's something special about her. He wants to get to know her. He just never expected to get the chance because her brother, Bruno, recommended her for a job at the bondsman company he owns with his brothers.

Of course, this should mean that they push their connection away, focusing instead on the professional aspect, but that's not possible for these two. Not only does Josie prove invaluable at her job, but Caleb quickly learns he can't live without her.

One-click now and follow along as these stubborn characters, both determined to help the other in their own way, realize they're better together than apart. I cannot wait for the next story.

Another action-packed romantic suspense from Misty Evans! With a plot that is fast-paced but developed enough to keep you engaged, plus characters that are not perfect but somehow find the one that is perfect for them, Deadly Betrayal was a quick, enjoyable read that had everything I like in romantic suspense!

Josie and Caleb are both a bit broken, but find everything they need in one another – even though neither one is looking, or even thinks they want, to find someone! I loved Caleb’s rough exterior and how Josie seemed to settle the rage that he is known to carry. And Caleb was just what Josie needed – someone to support her and not make her feel less, take over when it’s needed, and be a true partner in her life.

This series has so many wonderful characters and it’s always great to catch up with them when they make appearances. Josie’s brother was great! We met him in the last book and I loved how protective he was of his “baby” sister, threating Caleb and trying to protect Josie at every turn. Cooper, Ronnie, and Thomas all had parts as well, and it was great to have them worked into the plot.

This book is part of a series but can easily be read as a stand-alone. Evans always delivers characters who come to life on the page and the perfect balance of romance and suspense to keep you engaged throughout. A definite must for anyone’s TBR list!

Another awesome book in the SCVC Taskforce series! I love romantic suspense books just like these. Deadly Betrayal is the right blend of romance and action. Evan's romantic suspense books are auto-reads for me because I know I will enjoy the story, characters, and all the fun dialogue along the way!

In Deadly Betrayal, Josie and Caleb have a one night stand, which is not my favorite romantic plot, but with my trusted authors, I am willing to give it a try. In this book, I wasn't overly fond of Josie at the beginning either, but I enjoyed the Caleb, so that kept me reading. As with most of Evans books, I usually become hooked, which I did. The story unfolding was interesting and I always love seeing characters from the previous books in a series. The two main characters and their personal stories were the focus of my attention. I grew to like Josie after getting through that tough exterior and really admired the way she raced into action to help her new friends despite her own physical pain.

Evans delivers an entertaining read with such descriptive points of view and feelings that you are transported into the book. Her stories are always well thought out and unique. If you are looking for a romantic suspense story to pull you away from reality for a bit, give Deadly Betrayal a try!

So far I have not once been disappointed in the writings of Misty Evans. Whether it be her Task Force stories, Justice series or her recent foray into the lighter genres of Gentle Mystery and Magickal beings under the new 'nom de plume' of Nyx Halliwell.

This continuation of the lives of the men and women of the SCVC Taskforce continues that appealing draw her stories hold for me.

This particular couple is one of her best and most appealing so far, for me...not that the former pairings have ever been less than perfect!!

A short but fully encompassing story that will hold your attention from the very beginning. An ex Army veteran female, down on her luck and struggling to survive both injury from her last tour of duty as well as financial circumstances beyond her control, becomes embroiled with nefarious events. Enter an ex Naval Marine who comes to her rescue in a bar and an instant attraction begins. When said Marine turns out to be her new boss when she is finally offered a job, her defences rise to protect herself and her heart. the rest ...as they say, is history.
A great read in every aspect, funny, heart pounding and heart stopping at the same time.

I think I'll be chuckling for a while after that one...lol

Caleb and Josie have a serious connection plus a whole load of bat shit crazy between them, but it works, it really works...lol life will never be dull in their house as long as Josie never leaves...lol

So gotta say the Cahill brothers are all kinds of awesome and welcoming them into the clan has been great fun and adventure.

Caleb Cahill may not be the ‘beast’ that Cooper is but he is a freaking Neanderthal with a whole host of rage issues, his saving grace is he really only goes after bad guys so there is that...
As for Josie omg talk about a bad ass who can kick a guy in his soft spot without batting and eyelid, I love this woman every time she gets kicked or hit over the head with a baseball bat she gets right back up again I seriously love her strength.

Deadly Betrayal was a wonderful fast-paced, action-packed adventure that kept me entertained the whole way through.

If you haven't had the opportunity to read the SCVC Taskforce Romantic Suspense series, I highly recommend the entire series. This book was a fantastic read and had everything that I want in a book. There was mystery, suspense, fast action, romance, and a bunch of very well developed characters that keep the story exciting and keeps me anxiously awaiting the next book in this series! As with all of the SCVC series, Misty Evans kept me hanging on every word and at times I had to remind myself to quit holding my breath and breathe! Love this book, love this series, and really love this author. If you are looking for a great suspense book (or books) then this is definitely the series and book for you. Happy reading, y'all!

Deadly Betrayal is the twelfth book in Misty Evans SCVC Taskforce Romantic Suspense Series. What happens when Josie Jackson has a one-night stand with her new, unexpected boss, Caleb Cahill? It was fun watching Caleb’s feelings develop throughout the book. First of all, he has to come to grips with the evening before when he hires Josie and then works a case that eventually becomes tied to her. I felt sorry with what Josie endured being practically homeless. She wanted to make it on her own and she did. Deadly Betrayal is a fast-paced read that was filled with action, suspense, mystery and romance. I loved every moment of it and can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.

Deadly Betrayal

WOW! Another FANTASTIC story by Misty! This story was more about the Cahill brothers and their agency but we got to see Ronni and Cooper and unfortunately we had to find out about Thomas but luckily he will live. Josie met Caleb at a bar where she was supposed to meet her brother and didn't realize that Caleb would soon be her boss. Josie is definitely a tough gal but finally figured out she needed help. Caleb got shot but Josie managed to save him. Once all bad guys were finally taken care of, Josie and Caleb started working on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Misty! I would highly recommend this book!

This is fast paced romantic suspense at its best! I loved the characters and quickly found myself immersed in their story. Even better, woven into the story is a strong woman who is smart, capable, and interesting.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this one. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Love josie

Face pace read from behinning to end. Josie is one courageous woman. I dont like writing reviews that tell you the story in a nutshell..rather give you a hint and read the book yourself. Suffice it to say it was good. Enjoyed it very much

Good action book. Two people with life problems from their military life being the other ones support. JJ and Caleb made each other complete. Not enough romance between them though.
