I am sorry, but this is just as disappointing as the first in the series.
The story was slow and at times, very boring. It took so long to get going and the characters never came to life.
I did not like Izzy - she was so predictable - judgemental, miserable, and distrustful; and Gabriel was a silly and blind idiot. I ended up skimming because it was so slow. The ex-wife was such a predictably, unpleasant stereotype that she wasn't worth my attention.
I really couldn't understand why Izzy decided to leave Gabriel because he had used the information she'd learned from Rosa, to protect his daughter. Yes, he should have told her but was what he'd done really so deserving of her melodramatic response? I think not.
I hate being so critical about a book when I know the author will have put in a lot of work, but knowing how good her books can be, this (as well as the brother's story) was so disappointing. Sorry.

Story took quite a while to pick up and pace was a little slow. Moderately good storyline but one will be tempted to skip some of the prose. Too much of it. Also, I didn’t quite plug into the chemistry between the H and h. It didn’t come across as convincing.
H wanted to buy a piece of land, on which sat a cottage which happened to be the home of the h’s late mum’s old nanny. The heroine wanted to get him to back off but H was determined to go ahead. She went over to hold a discussion with him and bumped into his 6 year old daughter whose nanny chose that moment to get a ruptured appendix 🙄. Workaholic that he was, he needed someone to step in and be a playmate to his daughter. Heroine agreed on condition he promised to reconsider buying the cottage.
H got the hots for h whilst hoping to pump her for info on his ex wife that she may have gleaned from convos with his daughter.....info meant to give him a bargaining chip in custody arrangements. He took her virginity and managed to get the needed info through “pillow talk”.
On and on and his ex wife walked in on them after he decided to sack the old nanny, who was a relative of hers. H told his ex that h was his fiancée and she was furious. Why Madam ex had a key to a house H didn't sound like he’d had for long and after they had been divorced for so long, I didn’t quite get. But hey this is HP. The h agreed to stay on and act as his fiancée for 2 more weeks. Madam ex Bianca eventually figured out how the H got the info used to stop her drama and mentioned it to the h. Heroine was furious, felt used and told the H to F off whilst she packed off back to Hawaii.
H finally figured he didn’t want to let her go so went after her.
Not my favorite HP story but helped to get me sleepy 💤. Hope it does same for you 😅
