Clare Connelly grew up in a small country town in Australia. Surrounded by rainforests, and rickety old timber houses, magic was thick in the air, and stories and storytelling were a huge part of her childhood.

From early on in life, Clare realised her favourite books were romance stories, and read voraciously. Anything from Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, to Mills & Boon and (more recently) 50 Shades, Clare is a romance devotee. She first turned her hand to penning a novel at fifteen (if memory serves, it was something about a glamorous fashion model who fell foul of a high-end designer. Sparks flew, clothes flew faster, and love was born.)

Clare has a small family and a bungalow near the sea. When she isn't chasing after energetic little toddlers, or wiping fingerprints off furniture, she's writing, thinking about writing, or wishing she were writing.

“Cinderella’s Night in Venice” is the story of Bea and Ares.

Not sure what happened in this book as I repeatedly fell asleep reading it.

Unrated.

Bea and her two best friends are partners in a public relations firm, and they are determined to make it a success. One of her partners is called away unexpectedly when their most important client flies into London for a meeting which Bea was not aware of. In order to make amends she agrees to attend a social function with him never expecting where it would lead.

Ares is a self-made businessman who is intrigued by Bea and convinces her to attend a social function with him which is interrupted by a family emergency. She has now agreed to spend the next thirty days with him to help him out and although the chemistry was expected the feelings between them were not.

Both Bea and Ares have overcome a difficult and lonely upbringing which has made them cautious when it comes to love and relationships, but they may just find out that not taking the chance could hurt even more.

"There was no mistake (...), and there are no regrets. I'll always love you and, even though it hurts like hell right now, I'm grateful. I never thought I'd fall in love. I wouldn't trade the experience of falling in love with you for anything.
I'm not ok right now, but I will be. The paint ill fade, and then I'll just have those memories".

Honestly, their professions and confessions of love for each other had me in tears. Snot-city all over the place.

I would've loved to read more intimate (not PG18+) scenes between them. I know there is a lot they could've explored together had the author focused on creating more "scenes".

A seductive tale rich in passion and emotion, Clare Connelly’s Cinderella’s Night in Venice is a beguiling contemporary romance that sizzles.

Ares Lykaios might be one of the most attractive men Bea Jones has ever clapped eyes on, but she finds the handsome Greek to be arrogant and infuriating! When he insists that she accompanies him to a gala, Bea wants to refuse him point blank, but as he is her PR firm’s biggest client, she finds herself with no other choice but to acquiesce to his request. Shy and awkward Bea plans to keep things strictly professional with Ares, but thrust together by fate and united by a passion that is absolutely impossible to deny, Bea soon begins to fall under Ares’ spell.

Bea is not like the women Ares normally dates. She might be more reserved and unworldly than the usual women who throw themselves at him on a regular basis, however, when she puts on a beautiful designer ball gown, he finds himself completely bowled over by her! Giving into temptation soon proves inevitable for both Ares and Bea, however, they quickly realize that one kiss was nowhere near enough.

As their feelings for one another intensify, will Ares and Bea find the courage to give their love a try? Or is a future for the two of them simply out of the question?

Cinderella’s Night in Venice is an intense and dramatic tale that delivers everything readers could possibly want from a Harlequin Presents novel: exotic locations, steamy sensuality, breath-taking passion and characters readers will fall head over heels in love with. Gorgeous Greek hero Ares Lykiaios will make readers swoon and Bea is a lovely heroine it is impossible not to warm to.

A captivating and indulgent contemporary romance, Clare Connelly’s Cinderella’s Night in Venice is the perfect escapist fantasy.

Clare Connelly’s done a terrific job with CINDERELLA’S NIGHT IN VENICE. It’s a pleasant mix of an old-school category romance that still has a firm foot in the twenty-first century.

Ares Lykaios – a man with Midas qualities - comes with a typical poor background and a domineering attitude. His weak spot is his loyalty to his family, as well as his attraction to the heroine Beatrice (Bea ) Jones.

Both Ares and Bea’s pasts really their current lives. While Ares is quite a straightforward type of billionaire romance hero, it’s Bea that steals the show in this book. Her history is heartbreaking, and I admit to getting teary eyed several times. I appreciated that she was no pushover, and was not afraid to stand up to Ares. I also liked that even though they often butted heads, Ares and Bea did quit a good job at communicating with each other.

Being a short read, there’s not much room for extensive world building, and some decisions are made really quickly, but overall there’s enough to create a cohesive story.

This is my first Clare Connelly book but it certainly won’t be my last.

One of my favorite romance tropes is enemies to lovers, and the blurb for this one sounded promising on that front, especially with an arrogant man who gets under the heroine's skin. Cinderella's Night in Venice delivers on the fire and chemistry, and I really liked Bea and Ares together. Clare Connelly does a terrific job with the emotional aspect, including the characters' professions of love and attraction. The story is a quick read, which was perfect for curling up on the couch during a rainy weekend - a great way to chase away the gloomy day blues.

Oh what a journey!

I loved everything about this book. From the beginning to end. The way it was presented so beautifully, the way the characters were engaging and the way each step of the story was emphasized through beautiful description made for a stunning combination that kept me glued to the book until the very last page.

In short, an amazing book.

The only thing that might be amiss is, and it depends heavily on the tastes of the reader so it's very subjective, the way scenes would be cut of into short portions. It would cut off my connection with the story momentarily. But again, that's just my personal preference getting in the way and has nothing to do with how good the book is.

easy read

Really loved this book, a great read with none of the usual angst we get from this author. Just two people who met and got to know each other. This author never fails to deliver.

With a heroine with a name like Beatrice Jones, I wasn’t sure what to expect 🙄. But I enjoyed the first book in this series so decided to give it a shot and I don’t regret it.

For a book with Venice in the title there was very little Venice.

Get your tissues

Ares seems arrogant and rude. Bea just captures your heart from the very beginning! There's just something about Bea that makes you want to cheer for her from the very beginning. It's her humility and her kindness. It's the way she seems to hold herself back while also putting on a brave face and forging ahead. Then, suddenly, you realize Ares isn't as bad as he seems. He just wants everyone to think he is. This story will break your heart and sew it back together. Get your tissues and keep them close. You'll need them!
