These two stories explore some fascinating aspects of the experiences of pre-teen girls in 1764 and 1857. However, I found the narratives overall to be somewhat unsatisfying. The first story, Girls with a Voice, includes descriptions of a rather rowdy masquerade party and some harsh moments that do not feel age-appropriate for young readers. While there were some interesting elements, it ultimately wasn’t for me.

My daughter and I enjoyed reading this. It was the first in a three-book historical fiction series about the inhabitants of a house in England from the 1700s through the 1900s. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

It is still so fun to read a well-written story meant for younger age groups. It's light, informative, historical, and inspiring. The young main characters living in different periods throughout is quite inventive. It is a perfect read with little ones or on one's own.

4.5 ⭐️. Exactly the kind of book/series I would have adored in upper elementary school! A fun, enjoyable, historical read about 2 different girls, who lived in the same London house during two separate centuries. There were fun historical references to the famous Mozart family, as well as to Florence Nightingale. If you have a daughter who loves stories about ambitious, free thinking, spirited, independent young girls (especially during time periods where this was frowned upon), then this is the series for them. I sell these books through my website. Link in profile.
