I really enjoyed One Snowy Week in Springhollow. The story is cute. The characters were one of my favorite parts of this book. The characters are very nerdy and all love superheroes and comics. Scarlett’s friends Hope and Jess are always looking out for her and are supportive friends. Scarlett has hid so much from them like her dreams of writing her own comics. Scarlett has been keeping so much from her friends, which they learn from Devon. They are very supportive and react well to all the new information. Devon is always kind and won’t give up on getting back in Scarlett’s life. Devon is very emotional and compassionate, which is not what is typically expected from actors. One Snowy Week in Springhollow made me laugh and had me invested from the beginning.

Thank you Aria/Head of Zeus for One Snowy Week in Springhollow.

Small town, the big movie star returning to his roots and of course tons of super hero mentions, plenty to love in this Hallmark movie of a novel. I love this small town setting, its is one of my favourite romance tropes and definitely something we need to find comfort in right now. I love the fact that it reminds me of my own home town especially memories of playground and libraries. The trouble with staying in your home town though, you're never pushed to take any risks and your bullies are still there to haunt you.

I loved meeting Scarlett and getting to know her. I also love the fact that she is a main character with an edge. She hates those frilly dresses and is a graphic comic artist-how cool is that. Plus she grew up idolising super heroes with her best pal who just happens to be of the opposite sex. I like when we as readers have to step out of our comfort zones of what a female lead should look like in a romance novel and we get to do it here. I applaud Lucy Knott for taking this chance. I read a lot of YA romance and we have main characters who don't fit into the stereotypes but you don't see it as often as I would like in adult romance and so I really loved Scarlett (and her creator) for that.

The small town themes in this book are super strong. I love that Scarlett and Hope work for the failing town magazine, it all felt very Gilmore Girls to me and I totally pictured this town as a cross between my own home town and Stars Hollow! I also loved the constant references to the peppermint coffee that were around the town. I will admit to going and grabbing an iced peppermint cold brew of my own whilst reading this.

And then we have Devon. He comes back a bit of a hero but is he really that great if she jjust left Scarlett for NYC when they were younger? He's a lovable rogue and I love the idea of him playing the superheros that he and Scar hero worshiped when they were younger. I would definitely stand in line at NYC Comicon to meet him and share a cinnamon pastry with him. If you're looking for a novel with contrasting small town and big city ideas and some lovely sweet romance with home body vibes then this is the one for you.

Scarlett and Devon are best friends, bound by their love of superheroes and so much more, until his family unexpectedly move to New York when he and Scar are sixteen. With his departure Scar rejects her love of Marvel and puts aside dreams of becoming an illustrator. She stays in cosy Springhollow working for a magazine, doing run-of-the-mill PA work, still surrounded by old school bully Ruby and Scar's mother who doesn't accept her daughter's artistic ways.

Then ten years later, pow! Devon is back. He's a hotshot Hollywood star now, starring as a superhero in a movie.
Can Scar forgive him for leaving her and abandoning their friendship, as she sees it?

I absolutely adored this novel, it is utterly romantic and festive. Knott created characters that I instantly cared about and this made it difficult to put my Kindle down. I fell in love with Devon and wished I could give Scar a big hug, hoping she'd be brave enough to chase the ending she wanted. The flashbacks to their childhood made me giggle and I became totally invested in their journey.

A wonderful winter read full of heart. And Knott cleverly delivers the message that to be truly happy you have to be your own superhero.

This is the story that everyone who has ever been ashamed of their inner or outer geekiness needs to read. It's about learning to love yourself, and that you really are good enough to aim for your dreams.

And as someone who will admit to having many geek like tendencies, I felt it so refreshing to read Scarlett and Devon's story. I was never sure if they would get together or not but I absolute loved all the flash backs to the trouble they got up to as children.

It's clear they both thought they were superheroes, and on more than one occasion attempted to fly, but when Devon is made to move to New York when they are 16, it leaves Scarlett in rather a bad place. She's never left Springhollow, and has hidden for 10 years all the parts of her that made her feel like herself.

Then Devon returns to Springhollow, on a press junket for his new film, for he is now the latest superhero, and meets adult Scarlett, and let's just say sparks fly - mainly of anger!

Scarlett's best friends Hope and Jess are also really into superheroes and had no idea of Scarlett's true love of them, let alone the true extent of her unrealised, abandoned ambitions.

Yes there is a romance at the heart of it, of the will they won't they sort -and I did really love Devon, both his younger version and the man he has become.

But it really is Scarlett's re-awakening that spoke to me the most. I could feel her pain, I could understand her mother issues really well, and kept willing her on, to make what seemed like to me the logical decisions.

It's an incredibly enjoyable book, that I'm glad I had the chance to read - and the descriptions of Gingerbread houses were exquisite. There is great creativity in the story, and I would happily read more books set in Springhollow, should they ever exist. It was a lovely setting.

Another great book from Lucy Knott, I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Thank you to Aria and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Scarlett and Devon were inseparable: sharing hospital rooms, accidents, adventures and imagination they’d created an “us against the world’ combination that even their parents frequently despaired of. Scarlett wasn’t the typical ‘girly girl’ with her superhero obsession, constant drawing, skateboard and her willingness to try anything. Devon was always there as her friend, partner in crime and protector from the bullies at school. Until he wasn’t - leaving Scarlett angry, alone and depressed.

Fast forward ten years and Scarlett is working with her best friend Hope as her assistant – channeling all her creativity into the Christmas Fair, small crafts and keeping Devon and her obsession with all thing superhero in a box. A closed box. Buried under other boxes. Never to be mentioned again. Strangely enough, Hope and her boyfriend Jesse are huge nerds – but they know nothing of Scarlett’s past life. Until Devon, now starring as a superhero in a new movie returns to town, and Hope is geeking out over an interview.

Devon has always missed Scarlett and tried after he moved to stay in touch. She rebuffed all of his attempts, stuffing down the hurt and anger – and getting stuck in her teenaged self. Angry, repressed and ignoring all that she once loved, things were the same for her all these years later. Knott used the traumas and fears that Scarlett embraced to show her stuck and static – while things moved for Devon, even as he was trying to understand her rebuffs despite their obvious connection. It takes several attempts, plenty of push from both Hope and Jesse, some quiet moments and more than a bit of regret for the two to work out their issues and find themselves where they were meant to be. A lovely and hopeful story of overcoming traumas and hurts, moving forward and growing up and into the life you want and deserve.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

What fun this was to read! I love the childhood friends to sweethearts theme, and this one absolutely delivered, with a Christmas theme as well. Devon and Scarlett had each other's backs in childhood in the village of Springhollow. They were a little geeky and shy, often the butt of teasing from others at school, but they could be absolutely themselves with each other because they both believed in each other, superheroes - and superpowers. Which led to them donning their capes and trying to fly...and ending up with broken bones! Fast forward to age 16 when Devon's father got a job in New York and the family moved away. Scarlett was so furious with Devon leaving her, and herself for being so upset and alone, and with others trying to force her into the 'wrong boxes' all the time, that she maintained her rage and forgot to be her creative self. She put her drawing away, she stopped being a geek, she coasted along without happiness. Fast forward 10 years, and Devon has literally become a 'superhero' - as a successful actor in geek movies. He loves it! But then he visits Springhollow on a tour, and he and Scarlett face ten years of tears and fury and misunderstanding and stiflement... Can love rise above everything? I loved this book, with its snowy and glittery Christmas background in Springhollow, and we even got to visit ComicCon and NYC in all its festive glory. Devon is wonderful, unchanged by fame, and determined it's 'time' to woo Scarlett, who totally endears herself to you. You'll be cheering for them both.
Thankyou to Beauty & Lace Bookclub and Head of Zeus for the chance to read this fabulously fun romance.

I love Lucy's writing. I really do. Her kindness, warmth and passion and "One Snowy Week..." is no different. You can tell this is a passion project for her because she puts so much of herself, heart and soul into it. Revolving around two best friends who are forced apart in their teenage years, and brought back together ten years later, it's another one of Lucy's wonderful, uplifting stories with loveable characters and beautiful locations and imagery. I adored Devon and Scarlett and I was rooting for them the entire way through the book, and I went through highs and lows the whole way on their journey. While there is romance here, the real story is about being true to yourself and refusing to let you feel bad for "refusing to grow up". If you love superheroes, Disney, cartoons, comic books, video games or anything that could be construed as childish, then embrace it, don't hide it. Lucy's love of superheroes comes through here, and I can picture each and every one of the characters and references so clearly in mind. It's so refreshing to have a romantic story which plays into my own love of superheroes and I was so happy with every single refrence which filled my geeky heart with joy. I now wish I could visit Springhollow, but I'll just have to make do with revisiting this book time and time again. Don't ever change, Lucy.

A delightful read which centres on the close bonds formed in childhood and how you can be true to yourself when other people have different expectations of what you should be like. The superhero theme from Scarlett's young friendship with Devon represents her true interests. For years she has shut down her artistic talents. She has to find out what she actually wants to do with her life beyond settling for the safe life. Through her friendship with Hope and Jess, Scarlett has found acceptance but hidden her true nerdish interests. She has gone along with her mother's views on what she should wear. It is Devon who returns to challenge her view of herself. Through flashback episodes from her childhood, you come to understand her friendships and distrust of the bullies who made her school life a misery. I enjoyed the festive themes with Christmas seemingly the one time Scarlett has been able to let her creative side show. Springhollow is a close-knit village where everyone seems to know everyone else. There is plenty of potential here for a follow up.

Growing up in Springhollow, Scarlett and Devon were inseparable – best friends with a love of Superheroes and adventures. Then one winter during highschool, Devon and his parents move to New York leaving Scarlett friendless and devastated.
Fast-forward ten years and Scarlett is still in Springhollow, working at the local magazine and has hidden all of her passion and love for superheroes. Meanwhile, Devon has spent the last 10 years becoming a Hollywood star who is starring in latest superhero blockbuster.
Then, Devon comes home to Springhollow for Christmas. What unfolds is a reunion of friendship and glimpse of a blossoming romance. But, has it been too long, are there other people in the mix and have they changed too much to reignite their friendship?
This is an easy to read and sweet story which I enjoyed. It has all the makings of a great Christmas romance movie. I haven’t watched Superhero movies (*gasp*) so am not into that side of things but can see the obsession some people would have and I am sure those who enjoy superhero movies would appreciate the references throughout the book. Thanks to Beauty and Lace, Head of Zeus and Aria Fiction for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A story of friendships and second chances, set within the small town of Springhollow.

Meet Scarlett and Devon, two best friends joined at the hip over their love of superheroes until Devon moves away when he is sixteen. Until they meet again ten years later when Scarlett goes to interview him for her local paper now he is a celebrity.

It is like they have never been apart as they catch up on old times and make new memories.

A light, easy romance read. Predictable with the outcome.

I am a massive fan of Lucy's books since I stumbled across her first release and have been so excited to read this years festive story.

From the offset as soon as superheroes were mentioned I fell in love with Scarlett and Devon, we love everything Marvel and DC in our house as this story oozed superheroes and comic strips.

Scarlett is a character who has had a tough time due to bullying throughout school and a controlling mother and this story really jumped off the pages. I think at times we have all been a bit lost as to who we are as a person and been tempted to bend to peer pressure rather than stay true to ourselves. Throughout this story I could feel the infectiousness of her personality and it made me desperate to keep reading to see if she could find the traits of her personality she had buried 10 years ago.

A wonderful story by Lucy that combined her massive love of superheroes with a wonderful heartfelt story set in the lead up to Christmas. A story that makes you want to curl up with a peppermint coffee and just keep reading as you gain attachments to the characters and want to see everyone's dreams coming true. This book would make a wonderful Hallmark Christmas film, I loved it and was desperate to keep reading but didn't want to reach the end in equal measures as I will truly miss Scarlett, Devon, Hope and Jess.

Congratulations to Lucy on writing another wonderful heartwarming story that just captures your heart and runs away with it.

I really enjoyed this story.

This was a nice book to read and it had a well developed storyline and the writing style was lovely, the author really brought the characters to life.

The characters had a lovely relationship and I loved seeing them develop as the book progressed. I liked the setting and it worked well for the book to make it a nice and relaxed storyline that was easy to follow.

It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

Superheroes for Christmas 🎄

‪💕I really loved this story. Lucy Knott has captured the essence of one girl's struggle to survive in a world where we are supposed to be "normal".
As a girl with three older brothers, I was a real tomboy. I wanted to do the things they did, climb trees, wrestle with them in front of the TVs every Saturday morning, and polish up the chrome on their motorbikes, I loved them and it made me happy. But when I hit High School, that changed. I was bullied relentlessly by a gang of girls. I hid it from my brothers and parents and it still has an effect on me today! Reading Scarlett's story helped me to understand those feelings and remember that sadly, bullying happens all too often.
Watching Scarlett grow as she comes to terms with her difference and learns (with Hope, Jess and Devon's help) to love herself again is heartwarming. She rediscovers her own identity, and this has made for one of the best books on self-love I have read. The message is written throughout the book in a way which makes the story believable, honest and touching. I think many people, not just women, will relate to it as I did.
Devon's love, support and encouragement has enabled Scarlett to remember the best parts of their friendship, and eventually herself. He draws her back to the girl she has hidden away, and reminds her how much she likes her younger self, now she sees her through adult eyes. He is charming, funny and gently persuasive and I found him to be the perfect Superhero in Scarlett's adventure.
The Christmas theme running throughout brings the winter wonderland alive. The community spirit and friendly atmosphere, wrapped up in the Christmas Fair's events and secured in a huge bow of festive charm, make it an enjoyable read for the season.
If you are looking for a special gift this Christmas, 'One Snowy Week in Springhollow" should be top of your list!

I have read a couple of Lucy’s books and I really enjoyed them. So when I read the synopsis for ‘One Snowy Week In Springhollow’ I had a feeling that I was going to be in for a fun and festive read. I was absolutely spot on too! I really enjoyed reading ‘One Snowy Week In Springhollow’ but more about that in a bit.
I absolutely loved the characters of Scarlett and Devon. As children they were best friends and they were moreorless joined at the hip. They had a mutual passion for all things superhero and would regularly re-enact scenes or stunts from their favourite films. Sadly the friendship came to an abrupt end when Devon and his family move away. To say that Scarlett was heartbroken is an understatement. Since that time she hasn’t been able to enjoy anything superhero like. A few years later and things have changed. Scarlett has created a new life for herself and Devon has become the Hollywood superstar he always dreamed of becoming. Will fate bring the two former best friends back together? Will they both have their ‘happy ever after’ ending? Well for the answers to those questions and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
It didn’t take me long to get into this story. In fact by the end of the first few pages, I was hooked and I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to put the book down. The shenanigans that Devon and Scarlett got up to had me chuckling away to myself. Reading this book became addictive. I just had to know if the former best friends were going to become friends again and I kept everything crossed that they would get it together and become a couple. The pages turned fairly quickly as I worked my way to the end of the story.
‘One Snowy Week In Springhollow’ is well written. Lucy certainly knows how to create adorable characters, that are easy to take to. Lucy clearly cares about her characters and she makes them seem so realistic that they seem to jump off the page and they seem just as real as you and I. That’s how I feel at any rate. Springhollow sounded like a nice place to live with all the nice sounding people and shops. There was certainly a community there. I found ‘One Snowy Week In Springhollow’ to be a delightful read and it kept my attention from start to finish.
In short, I really enjoyed reading ‘One Snowy Week In Springhollow’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of Lucy’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.

I adored this book. It was a romcom that was charmingly adorable set in a lovely small country village in the UK but it also had elements of cooldom (think I’ve probably made up a word 🙂 ) Scarlett grew up with her bestfriend Devon in the small village and they were the perfect pairing. They both adored superheroes and had plans to become one when they grew up. Their antics as children would have scared any parent but this intrepid pair had no fears. Scarlett had a skill of drawing and would spend hours with her partner in superhero crime, Devon, sketching their own heroes. They had stories in their heads that Scarlett would bring to life with her pencils. Devon had dreams of becoming that superhero and loved drama. However, the pair were noted around the village and school as geeks and were often teased about it. But they stayed faithful to their beliefs, loves and dreams.

However, this all changed when Devon and his family moved to New York during the final year of secondary school. As you can imagine Scarlett was heartbroken and since that day she felt she could no longer be the girl she was with Devon as it was too heart breaking to think about without her best friend. Her drawings were put in a box alongside her dreams of becoming an artist.

Ten years later and Scarlett is living and working in the village. Her artistic skills and the love of superheroes are still hidden but she’s happy with her lot until Devon returns back to the village. A Devon all grown up looks so much different to the 16 year old boy that left her a decade ago. Devon has achieved his dream, he’s just played the role of a superhero in the latest Hollywood blockbuster movie and he certainly looks the part. Scarlett has very mixed emotions with Devon’s return there’s anger, resentment, sadness, excitement and feelings that she never thought she’d feel about this young boy she grew up with.

As Scarlett and Devon start to learn about each other again the friendship from long ago soon slots back into place. However, the confused feelings are still evident and will Scarlett open up to the one person who made her feel safe about being herself?

Alongside the story of this long lost childhood friendship we have a story of a village magazine trying to liven up their pages and also bring the community together especially during the festive season.

This book by Lucy Knott is such an uplifting feelgood festive read, I felt truly welcomed in to the lives of the characters and Springhollow and wanted the story to go on and on.

The Blurb :
Tomboy Scarlett thought Devon would be her best friend forever. He was the only person in Springhollow who supported her ambitious artist dreams. But then one winter, Devon and his parents disappear without warning to start a new life in NYC and a devastated Scarlett is left alone to face her high-school bullies and overbearing mother.

Scarlett can't help blaming her former best friend for the way her life has turned out, but Devon's cheeky charm and gorgeous smile prove difficult to resist. Scarlett hasn't taken a risk in years... but this Christmas of second chances could finally be her time to shine.

My Thoughts :
We meet Scarlett and Devon, best friends since childhood they shared everything together. When 16 year old Devon and his family suddenly up and leave for the bright lights of NYC, Scarlett is lost and cant forgive her best friend for leaving her especially as she has had it tough. Lucy just gets on with her life and starts work with friend Hope, as a PA in magazine publishing. Life is pretty dull for her in Springhollow.
Fast forward 10 years and Devon is back, having made it big in Hollywood, staring in a movie as a superhero. where does that leave his friendship with Scarlett!?. And can she forgive him for leaving her when she needed him the most!.
Lucy Knott captures the lives and friendship of Scarlett and Devon perfectly.
I loved the flashbacks to their childhood years, and watching how their lives have moved on and who they became as people. Scarlett in particular has her own journey of discovery and they are both so likeable in their own ways.
A story that is full of festive fun, friendships and love. One you must pick up and devour over a mug of Hot Chocolate, curled up under a blanket.

This was the first time I have read a book by Lucy Knott, and I will definitely be checking out her other books as soon as I can. I found this book such an enjoyable read, with the cutest of main characters in Scarlett and Devon. As the Mum of two nerdy superhero/comic fan twenty-somethings, who have always included me for the movie watching sessions and we’re all Marvel nerds here, I found Scarlett a really believable protagonist.

I loved the way she hid who she was from everyone after Devon, her best friend throughout their childhood, moved to New York when she was 16. She turned her back on the superheroes who had formed the main focus of her childhood, playing superheroes with Devon, Batman to his Robin. The flashbacks to their childhood were fun, interspersed throughout the book and giving their characters more substance. Devon was also incredibly sweet, having gone from a child playing at superheroes to being a Hollywood star and the latest superhero. He was grounded and unaffected by his fame, and very much the same person he was when he lived in Springhollow.

The location was wonderful, and with the snow it really helped me feel festive whilst reading it. and more than one hot chocolate was consumed during the reading of this festive romance! I also loved the bakery, and the cookie competition, it made me want to google cookie recipes!

I also loved Scar’s nerdy best friends, Holly and Jess, and especially the fact that in the ten years they were friends, they had no clue she was a superhero nerd just like them! In addition to the romance, this was a story about someone who hid who she was for years, thinking it would hurt her less, but who finds that being herself and being true to who she really is will help her find her dreams.

This would definitely get my Netflix/Hallmark vote, I would love to see this as a movie! This was a perfectly festive, cosy read with a friends-to-lovers story that will make you want to bake gingerbread and cookies!

Scarlett and Devon share everything in childhood and adolescence. They are besties and confidantes and always there for eachother. Superheroes are their thing, and they spend many a day reenacting stunts which often land them in hospital. They are strong through thick and thin. Or so they think.

Until the day Devon drops his bombshell at the worst possible moment. Scar is convalescent in hospital but he has big plans to go to the USA and act in Hollywood. He's distraught at having to leave Scar, and this part was heartwrenching.

I felt for them but felt he was insensitive to tell her when and how he did.

Springhollow is all Scar has now. Can she rebuild her life?

Years later, her PR job is boring and the village quaint but claustraphobic. She's in a rut.

Then, one day she sees someone.....it can't be. Devon's back.....but is he still the same?

Can they pick up the pieces of their shattered adolescence and make something of it now?

This novel really evokes those moments of hoping things will be the same as they once were. That people won't change. I identify with that as I am pretty nostalgic for the past at times and wish I could rekindle some of my own friendships.

Will moving on be easier said than done for Scar and Devon or will they bury the wounds of the past? Will there be romance? I found I wanted there to be and wanted them to be "OK" again. I wanted them to have a Happily Ever After.

One Snowy Week in Springhollow is nostalgic, dreamy and will bring out your inner syuperhero.

Thanks to Lucy Knott and Aria for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Lucy Knott captures childhood memories and feelings well and the settings were quaint.

One Snowy Week in Springhollow was a cozy tale of love, friendship and discovering the best version of yourself. I enjoyed reading this book for the most part – the festive occasions, description of a White Christmas, cozy village life and strong friendships were the things I admired the most about the book. I kind of struggled to connect with the female lead, Scarlett, because of her immature attitude. Her growth throughout the story was remarkable though, specially in the last few chapters. Seeing her accept her passion and love for art was definitely my favorite part of the plot. I think I’d have liked her more if the book was shorter? I felt as if the story was dragged in a lot of places, so I ended up getting bored.
The book picked up its momentum at the last 70 percent. I couldn’t wait to see how the story would turn out for Scarlett and Devon. Their friendship was really cute, and I loved how their flashback scenes connected with the present time in the story. It’s rare to see male leads express their emotions so openly in contemporary novels, which is why I loved Devon as a character. The story scored bonus points from me just because of him being the most wonderful person/best friend ever. 💕
There were many important lessons about accepting yourself for who you are, despite your flaws and short-comings in the last few chapters, which I really appreciated. The supporting cast and their contribution to Scar and Devon’s life was remarkable as well.
If cozy books are your thing, you can try One Week In Springhollow out.

Thank you to NetGalley and Aria for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've read some heavy books this year, so it was time for an easy-to-read romcom oozing with Hallmark Christmas themes, a cheesy romance, and a predictable ending. While Springhollow ticked all those boxes, it was surprisingly so much more!

There are many of us out there who were best friends with the opposite sex growing up and developed feelings for them as we got older. Some of those friendships evolve and last a lifetime, while others dissolve into memories. It's one of my favorite motifs in these types of books and Scarlett and Devon's friends-to-lovers story delivered. But what was even better than a glimpse at their childhood antics and individual growth was the fact that their story included a fun obsession with superheroes, comics, and the fact that Devon is now a superhero movie star.

While I loved Devon, Hope, and Jess, Scarlett was by far my favorite character: a bit of the quieter type, traumatized by childhood bullying, suppressing her passion for drawing and comics out of fear, sort of meandering through life as best she can. She was relatable in that regard and I felt empowered as a reader to take a long, hard look at my own life, how I hold myself back, and the direction I'd like to be heading in.

I've never read anything by Lucy Knott before, but I am excited to see what other books she's released. This story was a breath of fresh air and has me excited for Christmas.

Isn’t the cover simply gorgeous on this book? I have to admit it was the cover that drew me in and I’m glad it did as this is a lovely heart warming story.

Scarlett and Devon were best friends growing up in the village of Springhollow and they’re obsessed with superheroes; a passion that frequently led to a swift trip to hospital when it was evident that neither of them really could fly!

They didn’t care about the bullies at school because they had each other. Or so Scarlett thought. But, age 16, Devon unexpectedly left her to fend for herself when his parents moved to New York. Without her best friend and ally, Scarlett lost sight of her hopes and dreams for the future.

Ten years later, Scarlett is still in Springhollow and not exactly living the dream; all Devon’s fault for abandoning her. It turns out that Devon is living out his dream, though. He’s a Hollywood heartthrob starring in the latest superhero movie and he’s back in Springhollow for Christmas.
Scarlett wants to hate Devon for leaving her but, when their paths keep crossing, she can’t help recognising the best friend she idolised in the Hollywood superhero he’s become and her resolve weakens. Old ambitions re-surface but so do new unexpected feelings. It’s just a spot of nostalgia, right?

This is a lovely story of two best friends reunited, addressing the hurt caused by Devon leaving, and exploring whether friendship could be something more. I was rooting for Scarlett to find some of her old superhero courage and take the steps needed to fulfil her dreams.

One Snowy Week In Springhollow is such a nostalgic and heartfelt read. I adore Lucy's way with words, and characters, that changes even a simple sentence in to one of comforting delight. There's a way of enveloping you in the middle of the scene that this book especially manages to achieve that makes you feel so involved and invested in the moments and I enjoyed every page of it.

Scarlett and Devon's friendship, both as children and as adults, was pure joy. I was instantly remembering scrapes, dreams, and games with my own childhood friends and how things are so intense and real at that age and also how we grow apart sometimes. Seeing their reunion and the difficulties they need to overcome and resolve was written in such a genuine way and felt believable.

There is a wonderful cast of characters from Springhollow, particularly Scarlett's best friend and boss, Hope, who's own story with Jess I am hoping will become a novel on its own. Scarlett's strained relationship with her mother and the little touching moments with her Dad were also moving to read.

The whole bunch of friends' love of all things comic and geekery really was fun to share, and as a big fan myself I enjoyed the references, subtle and not so. It is a nod towards the many superhero tropes of self belief, being the underdog, staying true to yourself and loyality to your friends that I felt fitted so well with the storyline.

Full of wintery wonder and that cosy Christmas positivity we all need right now, this is a book to relish as the nights draw in

4 star review of One Snowy Week in Springhollow by Lucy Knott
What's not to love? It's the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is centred around Christmas. Lucy Knott is a new author to me and I enjoyed her style of writing.
After being away from home for years Devon, now a successful film star returns to Springhollow. Scarlett (Scar) is his childhood best friend who he left behind when he and his family suddenly moved to New York.
When they were younger they had a connection, they helped each other escape the bullies and gave them the ability to be themselves; they supported one another. Both loved superheroes and Scar wanted to be an illustrator. However all that changed when he suddenly left, Scar put aside her dreams and settled in to stay in Springhollow.
With Devon’s return, Scar still resents him having left and yet there is something about him that makes her see him in a different light, more than an ex friend. Life hasn’t been easy for Scar, she still has to put up with the bullies and her mother’s judgement but will Devon's return be the catalyst to Scar finally having the courage to take a chance? One click and find out.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

When you have lived your whole life in one place it means others have come and gone from your life often but what happens when your childhood best friend, who you had all those amazing adventures with, leaves at the perfectly wrong time in your life and then even worse, returns at what appears to be the exactly wrong time in your life too? Do you avoid them? Do you tell them how their leaving made you feel? Scarlett is faced with exactly this dilemma when her childhood best friend Dylan returns to the village of Springhollow in the lead up to Christmas but will her favourite time of year be ruined or might this be the very best Christmas she ever had?

This is my first time reading anything by Lucy Knott but on the back of this amazing story I have already purchased her other works too. The story has a perfect flow, a gorgeous writing style and characters who felt both believable and also ones you had feelings towards. The ultimate thing here is that in a world filled with books that can feel like an author has taken an idea and tried to stretch it into a story, I found Lucy had so many little touches and flourishes that made it clear this was an overall idea and nothing in the story felt like it was simply added in to pad out a small idea.

This wintery second chance love story was sweet and geeky and I devoured it! I couldn’t put this romcom down and loved rooting for both characters. I kept picturing Justin Hartley (Kevin from This Is Us) as Devon!

Scarlett and Devon were childhood besties obsessed with all things superhero and were known in their little village for their singular passion (AKA nerdiness!) and the mischief this duo regularly created. When Devon’s family suddenly moves to NYC, Scarlett is left feeling alone, is treated horribly by peers, and won’t forgive Devon for abandoning her. She eventually gives up on her dream of becoming a comic book artist despite her amazing talent and fast forward many years later, Devon’s unexpected return to Springhollow upends the very guarded and safe space she has managed to create for herself. Will Devon be able to mend their friendship despite the walls Scarlett has up?
.
This is one I would read again next winter because it was so much fun! Given that my family loves Marvel/DC movies, all things Star Wars, and I go to ComicCon every year with a group of friends, “geeky” is a huge draw. Add in a second chance story and I can’t help myself!

Nice story, I would give more stars but for the following reasons, some very pedantic ones, but hey my opinion :)
a) although British author and set in England, I thought from the title it had to be American as the village name felt to be in American name style, rather than English which would be more like Avon-on-Sea (that was my best stereotype attempt sorry!). The dialog also used American words instead of British, I.e. mad instead of angry, vacation instead of holidays. Possibly British vocabulary has got more Americanised, or it’s a generational thing, but it seemed a bit disconnected with where it was actually set.
b) I blame the editors for this, the grammatical mistake of using “I” when the person is not subject in the sentence. Saw this a number of times and that is something that should have been picked up.
C) the dialog particularly in the last few chapters felt rushed and the personalities for both a bit flat, as it was getting to the HEA. It seemed to repeat the main issue and history of the two a lot so I do wonder whether it could have done with another revision to focus the plot better.

After all that I enjoyed it, but not sure I’ll read another by the author.

When two best friends are torn apart at the age of 16 Scarlett is crushed and cuts off all contact. When her ex-best friend Devon comes back to town ten years later Scarlett has a hard time not blaming him for everything that went wrong after he left. Reuniting though has brought back new feelings and they both grapple with figuring it out.

This book was super cute and quaint. It definitely has a good holiday feel in a small town vibe, that got me in the mood for snow and holiday food. I liked how Scarlet grew and confronted her bully. There was lots of throwbacks to their youth which I liked and help explain a lot of the current plot. There were lots of references to comics and comic book movies and stars so you might need to brush up on your nerd knowledge.

Overall I'd give this a 3.5-4. It was super cute and I rooted for the main characters, but it wasnt something that made me need to know what was going to happen. Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review

I LOVE IT!
I think this book is perfect for this time of the year (or whenever) but is such a light Christmas reading that I found myself wishing to be Christmas already!
The book is set in a small village where we are introduced to the most adorable pair of friends, Scarlett and Devon because they are a geeky weirdos. However, they are separated for 10 years and Devon has become a famous movie superhero and Scar has lose her confident and herself along the way.
The whole reunion takes place in a week and reading how Scar starts to see her love for Devon and along the way her try geeky self was AMAZING.

This story is not only romance but also acceptance and learn to stand by yourself not matter what the others said to you.

This was a sweet romance, two childhood friends meeting again after 10 years. Plenty of hurts and misunderstandings have played out in their minds during those years apart and bumping into each other when Devon returns to his hometown village, having realised his dream of being a superhero throws Scarlett's life into a whirl. Where she's spent the years hiding who she truly is, trying to please others after being hurt when Devon left, he's gotten on with life despite the same hurt from her rejection. I enjoyed seeing Scarlett come to life as Devon pushes his way back into her life and her heart, and with the help of her friends Hope and Jess, and her dad Scarlett might just make her own dreams finally come true. Their changing relationship and feelings was sweet and provides a happy ending.

Thanks to Beauty and Lace and Head of Zeus for a digital copy of this novel in return for an honest review.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Aria for the opportunity to read this book.
Scarlett and Devon were best friends through childhood and then he left her and their home town. Years later and both grown up. Scarlett is working on the local magazine but had given up drawing. Devon meanwhile has become an actor and is now a superhero. When he returns home, Scarlett has to face him again and see if she can let go of her hurt.

Aww what a cute story this was. The plot is steady and the ending was easy to tell but geting there was so much fun. Their friendship was so cute when they were younger. Oh and what an ending. I love a hapy Christmas story and Scarlett finally finding herself. The charaters are all well written and relatable especially Scarlett. Her pain is so sad but understandable. I like that this focused on her finding herself and accepting it wa okay to be her. A powerful mssage tied up in a festive story. Fun, sweet and makes me want to get baking.
