As a world famous drummer, Jo Jackson has a reputation to uphold. That reputation doesn’t include having a baby with a man she can’t legally name.
So, she hides. From the world. From her friends.
But there’s one person who refuses to let her go through his alone. Dax Shepherd, one of the biggest names in music and also the greatest mystery. The world doesn’t know the face behind the name.
When Dax convinces Jo to stay with him for the rest of her pregnancy in his too-large, too-empty mansion, she isn’t sure how to act around the awkward musical genius or what he wants from her.
Taking care of the well-known Jo comes with risks to everything Dax has tried so hard to keep hidden, and she must decide if she’s willing to let him reveal his identity for her.
Or if it’s better to walk away.
Love is a Drum Beat is book four in Rockstars Anonymous, featuring one rock star support group, five ridiculous stars, and four swoony romances. Beware of concert crashers, meddling families, and rock stars who can’t seem to stay out of each other’s love lives.
This was a fantastic ending to a wonderful series!
Jo Jackson has 2 months left of her prison time-I mean pregnant- and it can’t come soon enough! She is bored, tired, and hungry all at the same time and no one can relate. With all her guys away- except for Dax- Jo is sad, lonely, bored, and hungry all at the same time. When some complications arise Jo is forced into a situation where she had to live on bed rest and only Dax is there to take care of her. Can these two opposites become a cohesive one?
I was so happy to hear that the last book was going to be Jo and Dax. Together they are a brilliant story and it was so much fun to see things work out. Once again we are brought into a world of rockstars and love stories. A fantastic read that will put a smile on your face every time.
Love is a Drum Beat (Rockstars Anonymous #4) by Michelle MacQueen is a sweet contemporary rockstar romance told in third person, dual POV. Although it's book four in the Rockstars Anonymous series, it can be read as a standalone.
Famous drummer Jo Jackson has been keeping a secret from the world. Pregnant from a one-night stand with a jerk rocker, she's been holed up in her apartment avoiding all public appearances ever since she began to show. The guys from Rockstars Anonymous have been supportive, promising to be there for her and the baby; but she's two months from her due date and they all have other commitments keeping them away. Well, everyone except Dax. He's the only one still in town, but Jo's pretty sure he hates her.
Uber-famous and mysterious recording artist Dax Nelson has never let his fans see his face. His privacy and anonymity mean everything to him. Apart from his time creating music in the studio, he's socially awkward and shy. He's been enamored with Jo from the moment they met, but whenever she's around, he forgets his words and just stares at her. So when Jo's put on bed rest and needs help, Dax steps up to take care of her, offering her a room in his enormous house.
What will happen as Jo and Dax spend time together? What will happen when the media starts digging around? Will Dax's identity be exposed? Read the book to find out.
I loved Dax and Jo's story! I liked them both as characters and found them relatable and realistically flawed. After meeting them in the previous three books, I was excited to read their backstories and get to know them better. The tough, sassy drummer and the quiet, musical genius were perfect for each other. I loved them together! It was fun to catch up with the rest of the Rockstars Anonymous crew, too. Love is a Drumbeat was a sweet and satisfying conclusion to the series.
I've been looking forward to finally get to know Dax, the most anonymous member of the Rockstar Anonymous group! A musical child prodigy who can play most instruments, and is a famous rockstar - yet, almost nobody knows who he is, since he refuses to do concerts. It's so much fun seeing Dax step out of the shadows and in to the limelight!
Rockstar drummer Jo often hides behind sarcasms, and she's used to taking care of herself. Asking for help would suggest that she's weak. But when she's ordered bed rest for the last two months of her pregnancy she might have to rethink that idea. When Dax offers Jo to stay at his place she reluctantly accepts.
It's so nice to see Dax and Jo starting to open up for each other. Jo has barely accepted the thought of being a single mom, and she's terrified that she'll screw up. Dax makes her see her own worth.
I love how all the members of Rockstar Anonymous is there for each other, no matter what. They've become a family, not just friends. I will miss them dearly, but this felt like the perfect conclusion to the series. Extra points for the bonus chapters, which plays out 4 years later!
* I received an ARC from the author and I'm giving my honest review. *
The perfect ending to a great romantic series. From the start of the series these two characters were the most enigmatic. So I have anticipated this release. It definitely delivers!
Jo is the pink haired drummer, partnered with Noah, the British bad boy since her teens. Noah has been her only family. Now that he has a family of his own, how will Jo cope?
Pregnant, the result of a one night stand with a despicable musician, all of the guys from Rockstars Anonymous swore to be there for Jo and her baby. But now at seven months most of the group is away, busy with their careers and family. The only one still in town is Dax and Jo is sure he hates her!
Dax is an enigma. Awkward and shy in person, he is only confident with his music. Whenever he is around Jo, he finds himself unable to find any words. But she is fascinating, so he watches. What will happen when these two opposites are thrown together in a time of crisis?
This is my absolute favorite of the series with the series being one of my favorites all time. This one is Jo and Dax. I've been waiting for Dax's story from the beginning. Quiet, introverted Dax is watching out for Jo. He can't seem to figure her out but wants to so when he is the only one around when she needs help, he steps up. Loved watching him come out of his shell. He leveled Jo's wildness out. Story was fast paced and of course the group from the past books show up. Still love the RA interaction and friendship. This series is a definite keeper shelf and reread for me.
The end is here! I’m super sad to see the end of this series. I really loved this series and the characters. These 4 books had so many characters and different characters at that. I loved how they all worked well together even though they probably never would have came together if it wasn’t for Melanie and Rockstars Anonymous. Love is a Drum Beat is Jo and Dax’s story. He is such a mystery and doesn’t say much throughout these books but he is definitely a good guy. Even at the end I feel like he is still a bit of a mystery and we don’t get as much backstory from him as I would have liked. Jo thinks he doesn’t like her but in reality she makes him nervous and he doesn’t quite understand her. Jo was an interesting character. She didn’t seem to have a great childhood and then her baby daddy was a piece of work. I’m so glad she had Noah in her life and all her other makeshift family. These two almost didn’t seem like they would work together but opposites attract. He was so good for her and just wanted to be there for her and take care of her since she has been on her own since she was seventeen. I also LOVED what Dax did for Jo and the baby at the end and how well he took to everything. The ending was perfect for everyone but I wish we could have gotten an extra chapter for each couple. I will definitely miss these characters and the makeshift family they made.
Gah. This series!!! You’ve got to read it. These characters are so much fun. Sadly, this is the last of the RA rockers’ stories. They have finally all found their HEAs. Dax and Jo have been the most secretive of the rockers and in this one, you’ll finally get most of your answers. You will also see a side of Dax that few could imagine. This is a solid group of good people who formed Rockstars Anonymous to keep themselves from being overwhelmed by the lifestyle. They have succeeded beyond their wildest imaginations. They are truly family. Like the closing lines of the book say: Love was the lyrics that told a story. Love was the dance steps that brought people together. Love was the harmony that put two people in sync. And love…well, it was the beat of a drum echoing the song of her heart.
These characters are written with heart. They are people you will connect with immediately and want to remember for a long time. They are people you will want to revisit from time to time. Their stories are written with love and compassion telling a story uniquely their own, but interconnected with one another as a true family. Michelle MacQueen…you are seriously one of my favorite authors now!
Jo Jackson is a kick-ass drummer and a very independent woman. When she finds herself pregnant and unmarried, and the baby daddy is a worthless chump, she turns to her bandmates who she knows will be there for her. As luck would have it, everyone is unavailable when she needs the help, all but Dax Nelson, a veritable musical genius. They are both a little unsure about whether or not it's a good idea when he offers to move her into his home, because what do they know about relationships outside of the band. Dax is an intensely private man, who wants to maintain his anonymity for deeply personal reasons. Jo doesn't want to appear weak and hides away during the course of her pregnancy. But as they naturally come to rely on each other in all facets of life, that independent woman and private man find a mutually beneficial and long-term solution. Dax is the epitome of a stand-up guy and unequaled sweet man. Jo is able to fully trust for the first time in her life and the rest is history! Can there be a more loving character than Dax's mother? She is a living, breathing fairy godmother.
Drummer Jo Jackson has a huge secret she must keep quiet about. She is pregnant from a one-night stand. Now in the last couple of months of the pregnancy when things get shaky and she needs to take it easy, her support system, the band members, are all away or busy. To her great surprise, the reclusive recording artist, Dax Nelson steps up to keep her safe. He offers her a room in his home so he can be there for her. For a man who guards his privacy so adamantly, this is definitely unexpected and generous. But he has cared for Jo from the first time he saw her and he won’t walk away when she needs him.
Spending this intense time with each other allows the two of them to get to know each other as they never could have before. Would it be enough to generate a relationship after the baby is born? Will she choose to walk away? Will the media’s relentless search dig up a spicy story? Is Dax’s well-guarded anonymity about to be destroyed? Or might they possibly find a HEA together?
Words cannot express how disappointed I am right now!
Disappointed that this is the last book in the series, that is!
I have enjoyed this whole series from start to end an I think Jo & Dax may have just edged out Ben & Piper as my favourite couple.
Throughout the series, Dax has been the most elusive of all the characters and it was great to see this character opened up and expanded. It was a pleasure getting to know the man that Dax is. And, while we did pick up bits and pieces about Jo, particularly in Love is a Harmony, there was still so much mystery around her and it was good to get the full picture of her background.
Also loved the unexpected baby name at the end (ROFL) - that was a stroke of genius.
Am I glad I read it - certainly am Was it a waste of my time - not at all Would I sit down and read it all over again - yes, I would Would I read more by this author based on this book - yes - devastated this is the last in the series and hoping when I pick a new series from this author it will be just as good.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
What a beautiful ending to a series that truly captured my heart. I truly loved reading this series and had trouble putting the books down. Reading 4 books in less than a week - I couldn't tell you the last time that happened.
I love how the characters from the first 3 books had a place in this story. But, my favorite part was learning more about Dax and Jo. Dax was so quiet and reserved. We got to really see a new side if him in this book. And Jo, she is more than I thought after the first 3 books.
I love the sense of family and how this group, the Rockstars Anonymous, continued to grow together as more than a group. This series really touched my heart and left me wanting to believe in love again!
To be honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the book all that much. Jo hasn't been one of my favorite characters, and I was frankly surprised how much she grew on me. But nerdy, awkward Dax on the other hand had always felt a bit like a kindred spirit (well, except for the musical talent and the fame and fortune :D ), so I was curious how this story would play out. At the beginning, I didn't hink that it would make much sense that these two would end up together. But in the end... well, I stand corrected!
I'm sad to see this series come to an end. I've grown very fond of this "weird herd" - the Rockstars Anonymous group and their significant others.
This was a fantastic read especially Dax's grand jester at the end. This is a story told through the eyes of what you think you know and how you judge one without getting to know the. Dax is quiet and shy but he is caring and gentle and sweet and so much of a romantic with an enormous heart. She is a rough and tough drummer on the outside and a sweet and scared person on the inside. She has friends but no one person until she lets Dax in and sees him for who he is. I loved these two characters, and all the others but I really loved how these two came together and grew and needed one another. The ending is so incredible given who he is and what he does.

This is the fourth installment in the Rockstars Anonymous series. Jo Jackson is a fiercely independent drummer who is in the final stage of her pregnancy. Her support group from Rockstars Anonymous are all away, leaving Jo to depend on the one member that she knows the least-Dax Nelson. Dax, a reclusive rockstar, steps up to take care of Jo and they develop an unlikely friendship. This is my favorite book in the series as the characters have funny, snarky, and awkward personalities yet are sincere in their relationship. I highly recommend!

This series has been so much fun, so compelling to read! Love is a Drum Beat can stand on it's own, but shouldn't. If you haven't read the rest, you really should. Love is a Drum Beat centers around Jo Jackson and her pregnancy. The one person from Rockstars Anonymous that can help Jo out is the one she is sure likes her the least. How can Dax be a help when all he's ever wanted to to is live his hermit lifestyle? Well, I can tell you that it puts them in some funny/awkward positions. To find out what they are, you will need to read the book. I was given an advance reader copy for my honest review. Don't just get this book- get them all!
I received an advanced reader copy in return for my honest opinion.
What a great way to end this four book series. It was a book that made me want to keep reading to the very end and then when it ended I was super said because I didn't want it to stop. It's a book about Jo and Dax, the last of the rockstars anonymous club that haven't been written about. Both of them are not sure what to think of the other and as they try to figure it out, they kind of become dependent on one another. You will definitely want to pick this book up and give it a read to find out what happens. A great clean romance that I would love to spoil what happens, but I can't. Happy reading!
This is another amazing story in this series and it’s also my absolute favourite genre rockstars, bands etc and this is Jo’s and Dax’s story. Rockstar drummer Jo Jackson has a one night stand with another rockstar but she ends up pregnant and now she’s showing, Jo has been staying in her apartment and away from the paparazzi and when no one else can really step in to help her Dax offers Jo help and a place to stay in his mansion. Dax is a very shy musician his fans don’t even know what he looks like but will he risk it all for love?. I loved this story and the characters and the snark that goes on between them and I highly recommend this amazing series.
This is the last one in the series and it makes me feel so sad! You really get to know each character and you just got to love them! Dax is the silent and a bit weird unknown superstar who secretly loves Jo, the eccentric and sarcastic drummer. It was so nice to see them both develop throughout the story and get to know each other better. I loved everything about it: the love, the music, the funny banter, the fantastic characters, the smiles, the tears... Marco made a nice appearance. I’m really gonna miss these characters! And I can only say to you: read them all, you will love it!

I can’t wait to read what will be coming out next. The mysterious grumpy Jo Jackson and the nerdy music prodigy Dax Nelson. Two people with different childhoods and complete opposites find common ground, music and Rockstar Anonymous group. Dad keeps his secret life, secret from his fans but he also has a secret he keeps close. Jo is scared of her baby’s life and if she will be a repeat cycle of her family’s curse. But with Jo, Dax will change in ways he’d never would see coming... As for the ending, it’s was great.
I am sorry to see this series end. The author did save the best book for last.
I love Jo, and I have been waiting for her story. We all make mistakes, and hers is a doozy! She has two months to go in this pregnancy and most of her support system – the members of Rockstars Anonymous – are on speed dial only. As complications arise, she reveals the secret pregnancy. Dax comes to her rescue, and a true friendship forms. True opposites except for the love of music. Will that love bring them together, or will all the secrets break them apart?
Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
When Dax convinces Jo to stay with him for the rest of her pregnancy in his too-large, too-empty mansion, she isn’t sure how to act around the awkward musical genius or what he wants from her.
This is Jo and Dax's story and sadly the last one of this series. They didn't seem like a likely couple but opposites attract and the way a friendship blooms between them and later on love is just a depiction of how good Macqueen's writing was.

After all four of the books, I have to say this ones my favorite. I know I said that the last time but my personality is like Dax. Socially awkward, not knowing what to say, fumbling for the right words.
I ultimately enjoyed watching all of the character development go on through each book. This one really changed things. It’s an journey to go through each persons story and learn how they grew.
I adore this series and recommend it to read. It’s my favorite series of all book series.
I laughed. I cried. Basically I was a hormonal pregnant woman right alongside Jo. I’m not sure how that was achieved but I highly applaud it. I’m so happy with how both Dax and Jo’s and Alien’s stories turned out and ultimately how the series has played out. Seriously another fantastic book from some fabulous authors. I can’t wait to see what is next in line.

It's rare that I read a full series because after 3 books the storylines seem to get repetitive. I love that this series doesn't do this. This is the 4th book in the series, but each book can be read as a standalone. I love how the book ties in the characters from the first books and we get to see them one more time. This has been a really fun series with romance, friendship, challenges, and relationships.
I was really looking forward to this book and these characters. They were so different and thought they hated each other - complete opposites. The female a brash drummer, the guy a shy musical genius - both with music in common. The surprising thing was that they never had s*x throughout the book as the female lead was pregnant for another guy who wanted nothing to do with her and their unborn child. I also loved that we got a peek at their life a few years later.
I want to thank you for the terrific Rockstars Anonymous series. I read all 4 books in 4 days. Your concept of presenting a rockstar with normal insecurities and issues similar regular people allowed the reader to view them from a different perspective. Even though all the background stories of these rockstars were so completely different their romances were believable and flowed together for fantastic reads. Again I thank you.
Socially awkward, musical genius, love from afar Dax is smitten with Jo but cannot tell her how he feels. The miscommunication these two suffer from makes your heart patter and makes you hope you find a love like theirs. While it took time, it was well worth it.

This was a great book. It shows that oil and water do mix as Dax and Jo make the most unlikely couple yet with trust and love they are able to make sacrifices to be together. This is a great ending to a really good series. All the Rockstars Anonymous members have the HEA they deserve.

This series just got better and better. This book made me so emotional in the best way and I’m just sorry to see it end, both this book and this series. Jo and Dax have from the start just seemed like polar opposite but still they were just meant for each other. I liked the way they both slowly realized this. I really just want more.
Jo is pregnant and the guys are willing to step up and help, surprisingly Dax goes the extra mile. He invites her to live with him the last couple months of her pregnancy. Can Jo accept? Will Dax fall for her? Will the Rockets stand by each other? Oh this is the best conclusion. I want more though.
