If you stick too closely to the script, you might miss the obvious choice.
Heather From the time I was a little girl, my parents told me that if I made a plan, I could be anything. I wanted to be an actress.
So why on the day of my career-sparking performance did my boyfriend break up with me? A breakup hadn't been part of my relationship plan, and the untimely emotional crisis wasn't part of my career path. But as usual, when my life was in shambles, my lifelong friend Zane was there to save the day. He had to be. He was in the performance too.
With his support, I made it through the performance so deep in my character that I forgot there was life outside the stage. I forgot Zane and I were only lovers on the stage. And I forgot about the jerk who dumped me. Until the kissing scene. Zane's improv changed everything.
I forgot my lines. Botched the rest of the performance. Got terrible reviews. And suddenly felt my whole world crumbling.
Could I forgive Zane and move on? Or was I going to step outside of my well-crafted plans and finally accept what I'd failed to see all along?
Zane When we were kids, Heather suggested we write down what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wanted to be her husband. Thankfully she also suggested we tuck the papers away then check back when we were adults and see how we did.
Years later, nothing had changed. I remained madly in love with Heather, and she remained my best friend.
When her boyfriend had the worst timing possible to break up with her, I was the shoulder to cry on once again. The pep-talker. The guy who'd never found his way out of the friend zone. I was also her lover--on the stage. We'd rehearsed our kiss countless times, angling our bodies so the audience wouldn't be able to tell that our lips never actually touched, by her request. But one small move. A slight change of plans. My lips were on hers.
In my fantasy world, the kiss was supposed to change everything--in a good way. It wasn't supposed to leave me wondering if she'd ever talk to me again.
As they say... If you love something, set it free. So I did. Not that she gave me a choice. The only question was if she'd felt what I had during the kiss. Did she need time to process that there could be more than friendship between us? Or was I hanging onto a childhood dream that I could somehow know she'd been the only woman for me?
Is there anything better than falling in love? Finding another HEA? I'll always give you a dirty-sweet story to keep your heart full and your windows steamed!
Barbra Campbell writes dirty-sweet romance because she gets a kick out of helping couples overcome problems as they fall in love, even if it’s her fault they have problems in the first place. After pursuing degrees in Genetics for nearly a decade, she realized the ‘chemistry’ of romance was a lot more fun to write about than the biochemistry of how our bodies work. She shared her stories with the world, was a finalist in a bunch of romance contests, and traded her lab coat for a laptop. All of this was done with her college sweetheart by her side. He helps her pursue the HEA on a daily basis, even when she has her mind on sexy book boyfriends and cover models. When Barbra’s not writing, she’s likely to be taking a walk, petting one or more of her many animals, or playing the cello! Visit BarbraCampbell.com for more.
This was a super short and super cute story. Just like the last one in this Halloween series... I wish it would have been a little more Halloween-ish, but I still enjoyed it!
I wanted to squeeze in one more quick, Halloween read and I’m so glad I did.
Heather and Zane were adorable together. Loved their friendship, loved their history. This was a fun little story of two friends whose feelings were stronger than platonic. Zane knew they belonged together, but Heather needed just a little more convincing.
After the blow-up in the parking lot, I would’ve enjoyed to know more about Heather and what was going through her mind during the two weeks she was gone. That being said, I’m glad I read this short and sexy read.
This is a really short romance. I enjoyed it but I would have wanted more. I felt like we missed a lot of the interactions Zane and Heather should have had after the big blowout. It resolved without giving us a glimpse into what Heather was doing or thinking. They have a great connection and I loved that they had a long friendship.
An absolutely adorable short story! Best friends to happily ever after in one single kiss...and two weeks lol anyway a must read Halloween story. Perfect length for reading before bed or lunch break.
100% safe and completely free of abuse and cheating, a small amount of om drama. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!
Since Kindergarten Zane and Heather have been best friends. Zane knew one day he would marry Heather, he was just waiting his time. They were inseparable growing up, they did everything together. Forgetting My Lines by Barbra Campbell is part of the multi-author Hunky Halloween series. It is a cute and short story about best friends Heather and Zane. They have been friends since kindergarten and stuck together all the way through college graduation and more. They are each actors and are no in a theatre company that is putting on a play in which they are starring opposite. There is one scene which is causing them to each think thoughts that best friend should not. But that dip and kiss, well they may be faking the kiss but, are stirring things between them. However, Heather has a boyfriend that is jealous and not to pleasant who causes problems. Will Zane lay lips on Heather and really shake their worlds up on the opening night? If he does what will happen to the reviews?
This book is a wonderfully written story that is fun, has some drama, romance, very likeable characters and a nice story-line. A very enjoyable read.
First things first; I really like the cover of this book! Forgetting my lines is a novella that is a part of the ‘’hunky Halloween’’ collection. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Zane has been in love with his best friend for twenty years. Heather didn’t realise her feelings for Zane until recently. With her dating a jerk, will she finally choose the right man for her? The chemistry between Heather and Zane is clear to see and I liked them together. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
This was a really good book. Barbara has always been great with building an image making her characters seem relatable and makes us get a feel for each individuals personality. Her storyline draws you in from the beginning. Zane has always been in love with his best friend Heather. Heather just seems oblivious to it or doesn't know where to go with Zane. Heather has been on again and off again with Kyle which seems like he has a tantrum when Heather doesn't follow his demands. This book shows us: want, desire, heart, soul and love. There is a bit of a twist but it makes it so worth it. I highly recommend this book.

Heather is an actress and best friend of Zane since childhood. During a play with a kiss between their characters she starts to feel what Zane knows since he met her, that they were perfect together. The conflicts Ane the story is really good but I wish it took a little more to elaborate the change is Heather feelings and thoughts. Loved the irony on their choices for Halloween costumes and I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Well, you don’t have to be on stage and forget your lines when your get a soul rocking kiss. But that hasn’t happened when Zane doesn’t want to fake kiss her anymore. Fake kisses to Heather while performing on stage maybe the only way to get so close. . All the fake kisses didn’t compare to the secretive unspoken 20 year love he’s has for her. He wants to make a declaration, could it be a mistake? Please no cliff.

Zane has loved Heather from the first time he saw her, but has been in the friends zone just as long. Heather has many dreams, one is to be and actress and the other is finding the man of her dreams, but she not sure who that is. Zane and Heather have a deep connection and a shared passion for the stag, but when Zane's heart drives him to do the unthinkable.
This is a fun fast read that will make you smile, and oh how you will love Zane's Halloween's costume at the end. it is priceless.

This book contains love from childhood to adulthood. Zane and Heather were inseparable growing up. They wanted to be actors and were stars in their current play. Heather was dating another guy who told her no actual kissing. He hated Zane as much as Zane hated him. They kissed anyway. That's when things got hairy. You'll have to read the book to see what happens. It was fun visualizing the costumes. Heather had a way of designing costumes. I enjoyed the book and hope you will too. Written by Cindy :)
3.5 Stars Zane is truly adorable and the sweetest guy but being firmly stuck in the friend-zone, having loved Heather for the past 20 years is taking it's toll and it all comes to a head on the main night of their theatre performance. Everything starts to unravel quickly for him after THAT kiss, will he be able to get his HEA with Heather? A fun, cute, sweet, quick read to make you smile.

Heather and Zane grew up together and have been best friends and when feelings start to change into something more will Heather give him the opportunity or will she stay with her boyfriend Kyle who is jerk most of the time? This book was so good and when rehearsal was supposed to be just a kiss can either of them act it out for show or will there be chemistry and explosive kiss?

Heather is having the worst day ever on the day she is trying to get a job. Zane is Heather's best friend and is in love with her. Zane is also trying out for a part. When he changes the scene, Heather forgets her lines which ultimately means that she doesn't get the job. Will Heather forgive Zane? Will Zane get back into Heather's good graces and out of the friend zone? This is a short, sweet read.

Zane & Heather best friends since they were little kids. Both loving the theatre. Zane knowing she's the one for him, but afraid to tell her for fear he'll lose her. Great short but fun & interesting story. First book I've read from this author, but looking forward to more.
This was a super cute read. Zane and Heather are BFFs. Have been for 20 years. Heather is dating Kyle whom Zane can't stand. He loves her to pieces so he deals. That is until comes to the play they are in. She needs it land her dream job. Only one issue. They have to kiss and it will ruin their friendship?
Zane is in love with his best friend Heather. She is dating a jerk though. There's a lot of drama and a blow up too. It left some questions though so I only gave it 4 stars.
Zane has been in love with Heather for years but she friend zoned him. He’s been her rock for years, in fact he thinks of her as his Diamond. Finally he decided to declare his love and things don’t go as planned. I loved the Halloween party theme. I read this using my KU subscription.
