Her solo adventure leaves her alone for the holidays, until her handsome rescuer steps in.
Nicole Simmons planned a romantic weekend getaway in the mountains. She just didn’t expect to be going alone. Leaving her cheating ex-boyfriend and her usual cautious approach behind, she is determined to enjoy her unexpected adventure.
Carson Leavey became an EMT to help people. When he meets a tourist stranded for the holidays after an unfortunate skiing accident, he does what comes naturally. He never expects to fall for the feisty woman he is trying to help.
Alone and injured at Christmas in an unfamiliar place should be a miserable combination, but can the charm of Freedom Ridge and a certain thoughtful EMT have Nicole dreaming of a future she never expected? Or will Carson’s own fears put an end to this holiday romance before it even starts?
Return to Freedom, Colorado and enjoy the faith, friendships, and forever-afters of the Heroes of Freedom Ridge in this Christian Christmas romance.
I liked the depth of characters of both Carson and Nicole. I appreciated the clarity of the gospel message, and that prayers were focused on understanding God's will and subjecting their feelings to God's guidance. I also appreciated the wisdom (from Nicole) of learning from past relationships and not making decisions after 3 weeks only. (And the proposal was months later, not weeks!)

In spite of her recent breakup with her boyfriend of two years, Nicole decided to take her long planned vacation by herself. She would still learn to ski and have fun. So off she went to the mountains of Freedom to an upscale resort. She was doing great on her own on the slopes until she hit a bump, then promptly forgot her training! Then came Carson to rescue her. He was a handsome EMT. Carson was entirely devoted to his God, his job and Freedom too. He never wanted to live anywhere else either. Something seemed to change the moment they met, but it just wouldn't work because Nicole was far from home in Charlotte, NC. However, God just might have a fantastic surprise in store for both of them. Hannah Jo Abbott has written a sweet Christian romance with Thanksgiving and Christmas too. Enjoy it: I definitely did that!
Oh my. I think this was probably my favorite book of the series so far. I just loved Carson and Nicole. Nicole travels to Freedom alone after she breaks up with her cheating boyfriend. Carson comes to the rescue following her skiing accident. He volunteers to help her while she's alone and all that time together really brings them together. But she's only on vacation and needs to leave at some time.
First of all, I just loved that Carson's job was an EMT. Made it super and cute when he came to rescue Nicole after her accident. Then they were just so cute together. I did feel myself rolling my eyes so hard at Nicole and yelling internally when she was trying to leave while acting like they couldn't even try to make things work. But of course, even romance novels have to have a hint of drama to keep you reading until things finally work out.
Timeline issues… page 77 Carson asked Nicole if she would be there for Thanksgiving. Her reply was no, she was supposed to leave the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Then on page 78 Nicole she got in Sunday afternoon, too late for church. Now no matter how you sink that catfish, that is only 7 days. We all know her vacation is a 10 day trip. But then Carson asks her to attend church with him on Sunday. I am confused. Is that the one 7 days after she arrived? Or a different Sunday. Because if it is a different one. Because if a 10 day trip begins on Sunday it will end on Wednesday. Oh how I despise having to backtrack because the author or the editor can not count…
I have read a lot of books by the authors featured in this series. This is the first time the salvation experience is completely told from start to finish. Other books kind of leave it between the chapters or both people are already saved. I loved going through that moment with Nicole. Carson is just amazing and thoughtful. Always one to take a second to pray. Nicole was so easy to like. So many other authors would have had her worried every chapter about being hurt again by a guy. She never compares Carson to her ex or worries that he would hurt her. I loved the character development of both Nicole and Carson. Now off to read more of her books.
I've been looking forward to learning more about Carson (who'd popped in during previous books in this series), and this story didn't disappoint!
Nicole's growth as a character was pleasant to watch. She paid the price of her impatience, and learned to love herself, God and others along the way. Carson was a favourite for me from the get-go, so I've nothing but high praise for this generous man.
As an aside, this was my first Hannah Jo Abbott book, but it certainly won't be my last. 😊
I love reading Christian romance books. I love reading about believers finding each other thru diverse circumstances. But my favorite reads include a character who comes to Jesus... I love the new faith hunger for God's Word, the tears that come with the revelation of His love in action and His sacrifice for us while we were yet sinners. This book has all of that. If you enjoy Christian Romance, this book is sure to speak to you. Don't miss out, just download it today. :) -ncv
A story of faith, trust, and seeing how God works especially when we can't see how when things seem to be falling about. I loved watching seeing how God moved in Nicole and Carson's lives. How they both learned to lean on Him and then follow His lead and the peace they found when they did. Sometimes you just know and sometimes you have to take a step back, but once you know where He's leading and you follow it you can begin to see how things are falling into place even when at first it seems as if everything is going wrong.
Hannah Jo Abbott's book was a delight to read! I appreciated having a further glimpse into the life of an EMT, and better understanding the emotional challenges that come with this profession. I also thought it was neat timing that this book was released during the pandemic with the concept of having to work from afar. It was refreshing that work was a predominant theme in the book, as it felt much more realistic with Carson and Nicole navigating a work/life balance with their burgeoning relationship.
The spiritual themes in Stranded with the Hero were well-developed and point all the glory back to God. Having Him be credited for the workings of the characters’ lives felt natural and normative in this book. The inner transformation that takes place for both Carson and Nicole was impactful, especially in the context of loneliness. Living at Freedom Ridge Resort sounds like it would be a dream; who wouldn't want to read books all day while looking out at a snow-capped mountain?!
Great story. This is the first Freedom Ridge book I have read. Didn’t feel like I was missing something by not having read any others. Well written characters with a great storyline. Carson has decided he is meant to remain without a relationship so he doesn’t get distracted from his EMT work. Nicole is not something he planned for his life. Can she convince him otherwise? I highly recommend this one. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
I just want to say that Nicole was a bit of a brat in the beginning. She was definitely humbled.
Carson was sweet and steady. I loved how he always asked the Lord for guidance.
Their story was really sweet. I felt badly for Nicole and all the things she went through, or lived without. I was a little mad at her for her decision, but it makes sense in the scheme of things.
I've read this series out of order so it was great to get Nicole and Carson's story. I really enjoyed seeing how the Lord can take something bad and still show His hand. He was certainly in the details. What a difference it made to Nicole to have a different perspective on church and what it was about. I liked that each of them took the time to think and pray about what they were doing and the decisions that they needed to make.
Stranded with the Hero is a sweet romantic suspense story that takes place in Freedom Ridge with characters introduced earlier in the series. This series has a consistent thread: as the characters start trusting in the power of their loving God, they experience breakthroughs. Abbot has used this story in particular to reveal God’s amazing love and plan of redemption. The plot’s good, filled with believable actions and reactions, especially given the different character’s histories.
Nicole breaks up with a cheating boyfriend after a serious relationship. She goes alone on the vacation previously planned for the two. Carson rescues her after an accident on the mountain. Discovering she has no one with her he is compelled to help. I enjoyed reading about Nicole and Carson as they get to know each other.
Nicole is finally on a winter vacation. Alone, since she just had a breakup. Because of an accident she ends up meeting Carson, an EMT. Lots of fun and adventure:) Follow this story to find if these two can trust again, enough for a secure relationship. Happy Reading!
I love Hannah's books. I especially love that when the characters come to God they don't come "knowing he's always been there for them," but they come repenting of their sin and turning away from it and turning to God.
What you'll find inside: ❄️Forced proximity ❄️ Christmas ❄️ EMT hero ❄️ clean romance ❄️ Christian characters ❄️ Clear gospel message and complete testimony of salvation
This was a fantastic Christian Christmas fiction book, #4 in the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series. I really enjoyed this one, as the story was believable and the characters heartwarming, but not suspense/thriller. I would recommend this book for teens and above. I was able to read a copy of this book via Overdrive, but it did not in any way affect my review. All opinions are my own.
A holiday romance set in the mountains, what could be more perfect? Carson and Nicole were brought together when Nicole broke her ankle skiing. Carson was the EMT who rescued her. Carson's kind heart led him to help her while she recuperated in a motel room far from home. - all arranged by God's perfect timing!
This story shows a decent description of living with a broken ankle\leg. She's hesitant & doesn't have a caring family. He's an EMT and met her on a rescue mission. He's surprised to find that he cares for her. She found faith & guidance, which led her to hope.
Nicole goes on vacation and winds up injuring herself. Hometown Hero Carson to the rescue. This story is so sweet as they get to know each other. Can they make it work? Read and find out .
This story has a strong storyline and strong characters. It is a very good love story that has all the elements of surprise, struggles, faith, trust, sacrifice and so much more. I truly enjoyed this storyline.
This was a wonderful story. Nicole had travelled to Freedom for a paid for vacation, that she had planned for and her fiancé. Fiancé found with a girlfriend , so she was going to enjoy the time in Freedom. When she tried to learn skiing, she had a tumble and an EMT was called. This is how she met Carson. Enjoy their new. Romance
I enjoyed hearing of the plight of Nicole after she broke her ankle in a skiing accident. Carson was great at helping a complete stranger who was alone on vacation. It was sweet to watch as their relationship developed. I appreciate the character development and flow of the story.
I’m sad it ended but so excited to find out the ending. Start reading as soon as you can. Nicole heart was completely empty because her family including parents really didn’t know God and how to love. Awesome story. Start reading now.
Carson and Nicole’s story is very sweet. I loved how kind and helpful Carson is. He takes great care of Nicole when she breaks her and is all alone. They can’t help but fall in love. This is a great story in the Freedom Ridge series.
I really enjoyed this story. I found this story to be a sweet, inspirational romance with great characters in the wonderful setting of Freedom Ridge, Colorado. The story unfolds at a good pace and left me wanting to read the next book in the series.
This is a good story about people being challenged to truly seek where they should truly be. God used one persons accident to challenge where two people really should be. It opened the door to know that there was more for them both if they follow God's direction.
Sometimes it's hard to recognize the way we should go, but Nicole and Carson discovered the answer. We sometimes have to go through adversity to discover God's best. Enjoy the read as you go on the adventure.
