Have you ever picked up a book, started reading it, and immediately knew you were going to love it? That’s how I felt about At the Rancher’s Pleasure, written by Joss Wood. At the Rancher’s Pleasure is the second book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Heir Apparent series. The story picks up shortly after the first book in the series, Back in the Texan’s Bed by Naima Simone ends. If you missed that story, I definitely recommend that you read it. But don’t worry if you didn’t, because this is a standalone read.

At the Rancher’s Pleasure is an older woman/younger man romance. Thirty-eight-year-old Brett Harston is now known as “Royal’s Runaway Groom”, after breaking up with his fiancée Lexi Alderidge two weeks ago, a day before they were supposed to say “I do”. Sarabeth Edmonds has been bestowed the reputation of being a neglectful and uncaring mother, as well as Royal’s biggest gold digger. After nearly twenty years, she’s back in Royal, ready to finally set things right with her children Ross and Gina. She’s renting a cottage on Brett’s ranch but isn’t prepared for this cattle rancher and horse breeder to lasso her heart.

Joss has once again written this all-engrossing, page-turner of a story. Brett is what you expect from a cowboy hero. He’s a man of few words until necessary. He’s the epitome of the strong, silent type. He also has a hero complex, where he feels the need to rescue damsels in distress. At forty-eight, Sarabeth is a woman who has to come into her own through tough work and sacrifice. As a result, she’s a smart businesswoman who is strong and independent. She definitely does not need rescuing. I loved Brett and Sarabeth together. They see who the other really is. They are fun and passionate together. The best part is that they aren’t looking for love.

I wish we could have seen more of Sarabeth’s reunion with her kids. There wasn’t very much of them in the story. But I guess the story really was more about her returning to Royal after twenty years, showing her maturity, how she’s grown as a person, and the wisdom she’s gained. Plus, she’s finally able to confront her ex-husband, Rusty Edmonds, on even standing. There was an event I didn’t see coming. I can’t help but wonder how it’s going to affect the rest of the series if it does at all.

At The Rancher’s Pleasure by Joss Wood is an exciting older woman/younger man Western themed romance.

Sarabeth Edmonds has returned to Royal, Texas to get to know her son Ross Edmonds and grandson Ben after begin estranged from Ross for many years due to her vindictive ex-husband Rusty who kept her from seeing her children when they divorced. She’s proud of herself for becoming financially independent with a bestselling cosmetics line, something no one in Royal knows about. But she’s not the only one with a reputation that’s ripe for the local gossips.

Sarabeth happens to be renting a cottage from Brett Harston who is also persona non grata after breaking off his engagement to a local woman the night before the wedding. He’d realized that they didn’t love each other but still cringes inside at the hurt he caused his ex and the way things went down. He’s back home and looking to improve his image in the town’s eyes so he’s planning to be a sponsor for local event, one that happens to be run by the Edmonds.

When the sparks fly between Sarabeth and Brett after an innocent kiss designed to give the rumor mill something to really talk about, a secret affair ensues. But can it lead to a real happy ever after?

I’m a big fan of this author and I’m so happy she’s writing for this multi-authored series! Having read Ross’s story ( Back in the Texan’s Bed by Naima Simone), I find it interesting to hear from the perspective of Ross’s mother, and delighted that she finally finds a worthy partner in this story.

Sarabeth is 48 and Brett is 38 – the main discussion between them relating to age is about children but since Sarabeth is too old to have kids (and has been there, done that) and Brett has no desire to have children, there is no conflict to derail their growing relationship. I quite enjoyed having an older, self assured, independent heroine and she herself has gone on quite a journey since being married (and divorced at a young age). In fact, it’s that independence that makes it hard for her to see Brett as real partner material since she’s used to having to do things on her own.

As for Brett, though he tends to be the rescuing type (animals and people), he finds it refreshing to be with a woman who is capable of taking care of herself. He likes all of the traits that make her the woman she is, and finds her just as attractive as women his own age or younger. Their love scenes are pretty hot!

They each have issues to get past, including dealing with the other people in Royal who are dismissive of their relationship once it becomes known, before they can get to their happy ending. But when it comes, it’s quite satisfying. It’s a joy to read a romance with an older couple proving once again that love wins at any age! I look forward to reading the next in this series!

Quick scrambled unedited thoughts for Goodreads members

I enjoyed the older woman now stronger and the recovering savior of damsels in distress younger man trope. That sentence is a lot. I know. My brain isn't at its best so, forgive me. The sex was steamy! Sarabeth quickly got on my nerves, constantly having to prove how independent she was now. I get it was for the plot, but it was too much in such a short book. The angst with the asshole ex was great. I wanted more about Ross, her son. She came back to the town to make amends with him and we got more of his fiancee and her daughter than him. Also, Sarabeth's business seemed to well known for no one to put together the similarity in the names. I couldn't and didn't buy it.

WAIT! I forgot to mention the main attraction in this book and it is most definitely Brett. He's a straight talking, all action, super loyal and considerate broad shouldered young man. He's a self-made wealthy rancher who had a difficult life. He wanted to prove his value to a town who devalued him and his mom. Well, he did just that.

Sarabeth was taught that her only commodity was her beauty. So, she loved that Brett referred to her as sexy and talented/smart. She valued those descriptors much more.

Overall, this was a really good read. I had trouble with the first in the series, but found a rhythm with this one.

Super steamy older woman, younger cowboy romance. Although this is book two in the series, I have not read the first and didn’t feel like I was missing anything from the story. It was able to stand alone.
Sara Beth is returning to her hometown 20 years after leaving in a messy divorce from one of the towns most wealthy men. He was horrible to her and turned her kids against her in the process. But now her children are adults and want it know her again, so she is back in town to try to rebuild their relationships. In the process, she rents a cabin from a rancher who has just left his fiancée the night before the wedding, and the sparks fly immediately. They agree to a friends with benefits relationship, which of course, turns into a full on love story.

I enjoyed this fast read with lots of family drama, steam and lifelong friendships

Thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for this arc in exchange for my review.

Four and a half stars

At the Rancher’s Pleasure by Joss Wood is part of the Texas Cattlemen Club: Heir Apparent series from Harlequin Desire. Brett Harston is back in town after his not-honeymoon. His goal is to lie low and let the scandal die down from his aborted wedding. He feels terrible for not recognizing until the last minute that he and his former fiancee Lexi weren't suited for the long haul, so he's not looking for love now, that is for sure.

Sarabeth Edmonds is back in Royal for the first time in nearly two decades, hoping to rebuild a relationship with her now grown-children, after an acrimonious divorce from her cruel and vindictive ex Rusty devastated her and destroyed her ties to her precious kids. It's taken years and slow and careful work to heal and to reach a point where she has the confidence to see her own worth and to enjoy standing on her own capable place.

Joss Wood's writing is capable and captivating. Sarabeth and Brett are caught by surprise at their shared attraction. They're both mature adults, and generally approaching their unexpected pants-feelings practically. They recognize their age difference and that neither is really looking for hearts and flowers and forever. Which is of course why it's especially delightful when those sneak up on them and knock them upside the head ;)

At the Rancher's Pleasure is a delicious visit to Royal, and I look forward to more of Ms Wood's writing.

This is the first book in this branch of the series that I’ve read, and I feel confident saying that this story stands well on its own. You don’t have to have read the previous one to enjoy this one. Let me begin by saying: I love that this age-gap romance turns the stereotype on its head. I started to fall for Brett right from the beginning of the book. There was just something about the immediate vulnerability he showed the reader that pulled me in. I really liked Sarabeth, but I didn’t connect with her as well as I did Brett. I think a lot of that has to do with how high and how strong the defenses she has up are. Even as the reader, I found them tough to break through sometimes. Though, it was so rewarding to see what happens when she finally comes out from behind them. I really enjoyed these characters and their story. Now I’m curious to find out about the rest of the series.

This book is fast and steamy and a really fun continuation of Back in the Ranchers Bed by Naima Simone. I love how these series let us experience different characters and authors but all in the same world. This is perfect for readers who love cowboy romance and like the heat high! Thank you for letting me read and review!

A nice and easy to read novel. The best thing about this story, I think, is that the female protagonist is 10 years older than he is.
A strong woman, financially independent who knows what she wants. And what she wants is no relationship.
Until she fells in love

How Fast Were We Going Officer?

This was a decent book. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. I really enjoyed the age gap, it’s always great to see one with an older woman/younger man. I bought the attraction and the slow slide into feelings but was frustrated when a lot of the problems could have been solved if people just communicated! I also liked the side characters too, except for her ex-husband who I would gladly have watched being slowly eaten by sharks. I just couldn’t motivate myself to read this and I don’t know why because it’s a decently handled story! It just didn’t light a fire under me but maybe it will for someone else, you never know until you try!

(Also minor annoyance: the woman on the cover sure as hell isn’t hitting the forty year mark!)

Good book. Brett is once again at the center of a firestorm of gossip after breaking his engagement the day before the wedding. He can handle it for himself but feels guilty about hurting his ex-fiancée. He plans to lie low until the fuss dies down. Then he meets Sarabeth.

Sarabeth returned to Royal in the previous book, Back in the Texan's Bed, to repair her relationships with her adult children. Twenty years earlier, she left her cheating ex-husband, who promptly did everything he could to keep her from their children. Finally, Sarabeth gave up and moved to California, where she became a very successful businesswoman. Now she's renting Brett's guest cottage while she's in Royal.

I enjoyed the first meeting between Sarabeth and Brett. After initially mistaking her for a teenager, he then recognized her as Rusty's ex-wife. The last thing he expected or wanted was the intense attraction he felt for her. Sarabeth was equally attracted to him. The next day, as Sarabeth tried to work up the courage to drive into town and face the gossips, Brett impulsively joined her. He claimed that the two most gossiped about people appearing together would blow up the gossip lines. When the first people they encountered were three of the worst gossips, Brett couldn't stand by and watch them insult her, so he kissed her, setting the stage for what was to come.

That kiss had a significant impact on both Sarabeth and Brett. They quickly decided that a friends-with-benefits arrangement was just what they needed. They are upfront with each other about their "no relationships" rules, happy to be on the same page. Neither one has a problem with the ten-year age difference between them. I loved that Sarabeth is independent and confident in who she is, having earned that confidence the hard way. Brett is a self-made man who overcame a rough childhood to become the respected rancher he is. Neither needs to prove anything to the other, making it easy for them to share activities equally.

Even though neither Sarabeth nor Brett is looking for a forever relationship, it isn't long before their fling deepens into something more. Neither one wants to admit it, even to themselves, and they try desperately to convince themselves they're imagining things. Sarabeth is especially wary, thanks to previous relationships. When a confrontation with her ex brings out Brett's protective instincts, Sarabeth blows up and breaks things off, accusing Brett of not believing in her. Brett was blindsided, hurt, and angry. Both were miserable apart. I loved Brett's conversation with his friend Jules, who pointed out that Brett was way past fling and into head-over-heels in love. Sarabeth got the same talk from her friend Jaynie and her daughter Gina. Just as it looks like they will take the time to talk out their problems, an unexpected crisis forces a delay. I loved seeing Sarabeth take charge and Brett go along with it. And when they finally had that talk, I loved seeing them both open up and be completely honest with each other. I hope that they make appearances in later books in the series to see how they do.

One of the things I enjoyed about this book was seeing Sarabeth stand up to Rusty. He spent their marriage putting her down and destroying her relationship with her kids after their divorce. I loved seeing what she accomplished with her life and even more knowing that Rusty has no clue. There was a terrific scene where Sarabeth, Ross, Charlotte, and Gina are dining together. Some back-and-forth ensues that gets Ross on all the ladies' bad sides before the conversation moves on. I loved when an offhand comment by Sarabeth eventually reveals exactly how successful she was in California. I loved the reactions, especially the desire to be there when Rusty finds out.

Reviewed at Happily Ever After Romance

Frankly, I love a good older woman/younger man romance… with an emphasis on the “good” part of that statement. Some are just so silly and unrealistic that I don’t even finish them. And that’s a shame because in today’s world age should not be a deciding factor if two consulting adults should love each other. It does add an additional layer that, when handled well, makes the story more compelling, more intimate, and more enjoyable for the reader.

At the Rancher’s Pleasure is a sexy, sizzling, delightful romance that I completely enjoyed from start to finish… and then wished for just a bit more. We met Sarabeth briefly in her son, Ross’ and Charlotte’s story, Back in the Texan’s Bed, and while I liked the glimpse of her then – she is so much more in her own story. Married at a young age to an older man, Sarabeth seemed to have it all until she discovered her husband’s affairs and asked for a divorce. Unfortunately, Rusty is and always will be a nasty jerk, and his underhanded actions in the divorce proceedings damaged her relationship with her son Ross, and her daughter, Gina. Sarabeth learned how to survive, actually how to thrive as she came into her own, eventually, as a successful, secure, extremely wealthy businesswoman and owner of a cosmetic company. Her children are adults now, she has a new grandson she wants to be near as well as continuing to nurture her reconciliation with Ross so she’s back in Royal, Texas for now. The gossips are up to their usual tricks, but Sarabeth had no idea that she would soon fuel that gossip with the help of one wealthy, handsome, younger man.

Brett dodged a big mistake when he walked away from his wedding the night of the rehearsal dinner. He knew that the relationship with Lexi was part nostalgia from their teen years, part rebound from her divorce, and part falling into his old habit of rescuing damsels in distress. Fortunately, he realized their wedding would be a mistake, and became a runaway groom to the town gossips. After two weeks away, hopefully, enough time for the chatter to die down, Brett is back in Royal… and is he ever in for one huge surprise when he realizes who has rented his guest cottage, and the part Sarabeth’s about to play in his present and their future.

I really enjoyed this couple. They believe that their sexy fling is just that, temporary satisfaction, yet all the time together is building a bond between them that will eventually scare them both into making rash decisions. Sarabeth is such a strong character. She’s been through all the emotions possible, she’s survived the unthinkable, and she is finally secure in herself and her place in life. Brett put a spin on her future, one she’s afraid to take the risk of wishing for. She’ll make mistakes, but her strength shows through every action she takes, even the wrong ones. Brett is a self-made man, proud yet humble. He believes that he’s not the settling down type, yet this woman has changed him in ways he wasn’t expecting. He doesn’t want to rescue her but stand beside her through life… if she’ll let him.

At the Rancher’s Pleasure is certainly full of sexy encounters, love slowly building in spite of intentions, some nastiness from the past, a couple to root for, and hope for the future. I enjoyed this one so much, and should you love a really good romance full of sizzling chemistry, emotions, and strong characters then this one would fit you perfectly.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

This is the story of Brett (rich rancher) and Sarabeth (successful cosmetics entrepreneur). The setting is Texas, USA and the as much as the location and surrounding cast of characters feature (not massively); they are fairly stereotypical depictions. There the stereotypes stop though, as this book is intent on turning lots of the usual tropes on their head. So, we have a runaway groom; a hero and heroine couple both of older years (40s and 50s) within which the woman is older than the man and we have a heroine who is more financially successful than our hero.

The point of the book seems to be challenging of stereotypes. Indeed, for good measure, there are also a few pokes at current social issues through the book – pokes which reference but do not explore or illuminate much, presumably down to the constraints of the imprint. These pokes neither added or distracted for me, they simply underlined the determination of the book to be modern and real.

The central narrative of the journey to HEA is fairly standard, our hero and heroine both have to challenge themselves and each other to get over their hang ups and certainties (but they do know themselves, they don’t have to discover who they really are) and reach a happy every after. I found some of the sub-plots and context (such as Sarabeth’s entrepreneurial success and the story of her long-ago marriage and improving relationship with her grown up children) to be far-fetched and mostly unnecessary but again, not distracting.

This is a fairly standard but well written romance which delivers on emotional and physical attraction. It is elevated by its determination to modernise/upend some of the well-worn tropes of the genre. I only wish it could have challenged the naming conventions of the publisher’s imprints… (At the Rancher’s Pleasure – honestly!).

Overall a mix of refreshing approach and solid telling of its type.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author, in return for an honest review.

I am fairly certain this three star review is not because the book itself did anything wrong but because my life has been a stressful and chaotic time in the real world. So please take these thoughts with a grain of salt!

At the Rancher's Pleasure is book two in this series that Naima Simone kicked off. This particular installment follows the hero from book one's mom who is back in town. Sarabeth has a reputation in Royal (underserved as it may be) as a gold digger because her ex husband, Rusty, is a trash can. Truly, he's awful. Anyway, turns out that when Sarabeth eventually left for California she started her own company that she recently sold and now the woman is RICH. She's staying at a guest cottage on Brett's property, a very attractive man a decade younger than her, and also a man who just got back from a solo honeymoon after leaving his fiancé at the altar.

So Sarabeth and Brett have some fire chemistry and there are probably more sex scenes in this book than in a lot of the Desire books I've read. So if you're looking for steamy, this book could definitely be for you. I found myself skimming them because I didn't actually feel like they were contributing much to the overall progress of the novel, but YMMV. Anyway, Sarabeth and Brett become friends with benefits and then despite the fact that it's very clear that their connection goes well beyond the physical, they keep trying to tell themselves that they are just friends who have sex.

I think the conflict in the book was pretty well done, but also, it's a type of conflict that I always wind up rolling my eyes over. And then the very end takes a dramatic turn and I kind of wanted to know more during THIS book. Anyway, I think if you want something steamy with a lot of internal emotional soul searching, this could definitely be the book for you!

Thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for the review copy!

This storyline picks up where we meet Ross and Gina Edmonds mother Sarabeth who has returned back to Royal Texas to reunite with her children who are now grown and also get to know Ross’s fiancé Charlotte and their son Ben.
Sarabeth was estranged from her children when she and their father Rusty divorced. Rusty has done everything in his wealth and power to gain custody of the kids and keeping them from seeing Sarabeth by poisoning their minds that there mother didn’t want them and that is why she left them.
Now that Sarabeth is back to right the wrong she rents a cottage from rancher Brett Harston, who just called off his wedding to Lexi the night before their wedding at the rehearsal dinner. Both Brett and Sarabeth are the gossips subjects of Royal, especially after Brett gives a passionate kiss to Sarabeth in front of the town gossips.
Now the sparks of passion has been ignited between Brett and Sarabeth. The characters were well developed and the author did a great job of incorporating characters from the first book and introducing new characters where the storyline just flowed. I like the older women, younger man romance to show that love sometimes doesn’t have to be where the man is older or the same age as the woman. Now will Brett and Sarabeth remain together and find love within each other? Will Sarabeth be able to gain the love and trust of her now adult children Ross and Gina? Will Rusty try and run Sarabeth out of town just like he did after their divorce? I don’t want to give any spoilers so you will have to read this book for yourself to see how things pan out.
I highly recommend this book to read and it can be read as a stand-alone. It has a juicy storyline of romance, steamy sex, family drama and secrets.

If you're not fond of « insta-love » romances, « At the Rancher's Pleasure » might not be the book for you, though here it's more « insta-lust » instead, the characters wanting to jump on each other at the very first sight. And it's not a metaphor. Instantly begins a supposed-to-stay-physical-only relationship. This is clearly a romantica novel, with many sex scenes. You guess how it goes : feelings bloom from both sides, several it's-just-sex-nothing-else clarifications, and here they are, always deeper in denial. Classical.

Classical, but well-written. We could get tired of seeing Sarabeth and Brett using all possible excuses to deny their feelings, as well as not believing in this evolution. But the fact is : we do, and easily, and not because of their alchemy in bed, but outside of it, through exchanges really showing their complicity.

If we don't see much of the texan countryside, the small-town setting is mostly given through how fast gossip spreads. Sarabeth's toxic ex is only a very secondary element, as well as her reconnection with her children. A certain incident isn't ever solved at all. The only thing that matters is Sarabeth and Brett's journey within these few weeks, the time they spent together and apart. The age gap (Sarabeth being forty-eight, so ten years older than Brett) is regularly reminded, but not enough to feel repetitive. In fact, just enough to show her doubts ! She's a resourceful, independent woman who suceeded in life alone and knows her worth. What she wants ? Not so much !

With its endearing characters, « At the Rancher's Pleasure » is one of those books you still think of even after closing them for the night. We don't even regret the absence of real subplots : Sarabeth and Brett's romance is enough in itself.

7/10, generously rounded up to four stars.

After reading about Sarabeth’s son Ross his fiancée Charlotte and son Ben I glad to find that Sarabeth was up next.

After finding out that her now ex-husband Rusty had numerous affairs; the straw that broke the camel’s back was walking in on Rusty having yet another affair. Sarabeth wants a divorce and she gets it. What a high price to pay for her freedom. Rusty ostracizes from her children Ross and Gina. Rusty is very powerful, rich, owns land and has the judge helping him. Sarabeth just couldn’t win and leaves for California.

Sarabeth now has her money from her company that she created and returns to Royal Texas to reunite with her children Ross, Gina, Ross’ fiancée Charlotte and her grandson Ben.

Sarabeth rents a cottage from Brett Harrison who’s a rancher and has his own fortunate. The date before Brett is to be married calls it off and goes on his honeymoon alone. Brett is out riding his horse and he sees Sarabeth who is an older woman but she doesn’t look her age. Brett is a nurturer and enjoys helping those who need him. Even though he has feelings for Sarabeth he just wants to take care of her and shelter her from Rusty because everyone knows what kind of person he is.

Will Sarabeth ignore the rumors about her being too old for Brett, will she get the courage to confront Rusty about his part in ostracizing her from her children, will she having a loving relationship with her children and will she and Brett get their HEA? They both have been thru a lot and deserve a HEA.

I truly enjoyed this book. It was nice heading back to Royal with Texas Cattleman’s Club.

4 1/2 STARS!

Temptation at it's best! Joss Wood is known for her delectable heroes and runaway groom Brett is another one to add to her list of winners in AT THE RANCHER'S PLEASURE. I loved the double whammy of his baggage mixing with Sarabeth's in such a consuming way in their seemingly effortless relationship that the age difference between them was barely even notable. Loved them and can't wait for more in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Heir Apparent series!

Sarabeth was very much a flawed character who had to be redeemed in the reader's eye for her past unreliability with her adult children. Ms. Wood paved the way for forgiveness by having her admit to fault in her own right before sharing the roadblocks she faced. I found her easy to like, and rooted for her from the start.

Brett is just pure yumminess. He gets let off fairly easily for his flaws because we aren't faced with the jilted bride's feelings directly in front of us, but watching him interact with Sarabeth and start to fall for her makes him easy to enjoy.

I highly recommend this book as well as the series as a whole to anyone who loves a good bit of drama and baggage with their romance. It's always fun to unravel the past and forge through to the happily ever after in a Desire!

I had a hard time with this book. It had lots of good points – interesting characters, intriguing story elements, a believable romantic arc, lots of romantic scenes between the hero and heroine – and yet I found myself putting the book down again and again. I didn’t have an issue with the older woman/younger man aspect of the story, though at times it felt like Wood was truly beating the reader over the head with the fact that Sarabeth is a decade older than Brett. I liked the small-town rumor mill complications they faced and the past that Sarabeth had to confront and overcome just to show her face in Royal. As a book in a shared series, At the Rancher’s Pleasure stands on its own without a problem, showing glimpses of the town but focusing solidly on Brett and Sarabeth. All that aside, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the romance itself, and despite the many, many times it’s mentioned that Sarabeth older woman, there really wasn’t much in the story that made me actually *feel* like she was actually older than the usual Desire heroine. I’m going to keep working my way through the Heir Apparent continuity, but I didn’t love this entry in the series.

This was a very steamy romance with an older woman and younger man but the age difference was not an issue at all. Certainly not for them and not for the reader. I was glad about that because I usually don't like older women stories.

Brett was back home after cancelling his wedding the day before the event and Sarabeth was back to rebuild her relationship with her adult children. After divorcing her ex, he vindictively turned her kids against her. She was devastated, as any mother would be. But she moved on with her life, moving to California and starting a business. It turned out to be very, very successful.

I liked when Brett and Sarabeth knew the town was gossiping about them so Brett decided to give them something to talk about by kissing her in the middle of town. They sure gave the rumour mill something to talk about.

I liked these two and was happy when their friends-with-benefits relationship became something more.

I am happy to have won a copy of this book. I really enjoyed it and recommend it to romance enthusiasts.

This is book two in The Texas Cattleman's Club: Heir Apparent and it is Brett and Sarabeth story and omg it is so good. Brett and Sarabeth have gone through so much and now they are both the talk of the town with people gossiping about them so they get together and decide to share a kiss to fire the rumours but things don't go according to plan. This is a older woman and younger man romance and so addictive that you have to keep turning the pages. The chemistry between Brett and Sarabeth was so strong and not that you could feel it sizzling of the pages of this book and I couldn't put it down as I had to see what would happen next. Joss Wood is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I definitely look forward to reading more of her books.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Once again, so far this Heir series is not very exciting. When I first saw Sarabeth as the new women in town and Brett just coming off a runaway groom honeymoon by himself, I thought you have got to be kidding.

Too much sex and not enough story. It go5 kind of boring. I ended being glad Sarabeth found her way abd became her own millionaire person in-spite of her ex Rusty ruining her.
Also that she reached out to her Son and told him the truth of her being gone out of his life, said a lot of her finding herself and wanting to be independent .
Brett in the other hand was man enough to walk away from his high school sweetheart before reaching the alter realizing they were just trying to find happiness that was never going to work .
Sarabeth and Brett really were made for each other.

Love the TCC series and this book was no exception. I love Joss Wood's writing so was happy to have a new book by her to read. Sarabeth left years ago after her nasty husband Rusty made it til she couldn't even see her kids. Now she is trying to rebuild the relationship with both. Brett has just ran away the day before he was to marry. Sarabeth is older than Brett but they have a HOT connection. He is not to much younger. Age has no play if you ask me! They are brought to gether as she is on his land renting. They spend time together and do lots of things but are each leary. Rusty the ex is causing problems left and right but Sarabeth gets to have her say with him at one point that I was cheering her on! This book was great..I loved it from page one.

Brett Harston and Sarabeth Edmonds have both been the talk of the town. Brett for bailing on his wedding and Sarabeth for leaving her wealthy, powerful, lying ex-husband. Their story begins with a kiss meant to get the town gossip going but instead opens up a fiery attraction neither can handle.

Whew! From the first page, this was a hot hot read. Brett and Sarabeth share a hot chemistry that heats up the pages. They can't keep their hands off each other and their passion is intense. You can tell that this heat between them would either combust or lead to something more. I enjoyed reading and there were a few moments that had me cheering. If you like steamy reads, this is one for you.

Thank you #netgalley #harlequin for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Brett Harston had not had an easy start in life. His mother was in a really bad car accident that impacted the rest of her life. She died at a young age because of it. Brett was very kind, compassionate and empathetic because of caring for her. Sarabeth Edmonds had to learn to be independent and to fight for herself because of her upbringing and being married to Rusty Edmonds.
She had come back to Royal, Tx be near her two adult children and her grandson. She was able to get a rental on Brett's property. Their story was a meeting to two people who were very independent but both came to realize they were perfect for each other. It was a great story.

Another steamy read in the Texas Cattleman’s Club series!
I chuckled over both Brett and Sarabeth’s situations being the latest cause for fodder by the Royal Reporters, and loved their decision to make it all the more salacious. Brett discovers self-assured Sarabeth is not interested in more than a one-night stand and somehow leaves Brett kind of wanting more for the first time in his life. Yet the unlikely pairing somehow makes sense as time continues, until plot twists destroy and hopefully rekindle if Sarabeth can get past Brett’s cowboy ways of rescuing the damsel and decide to stay in Royal!

I really enjoyed reading this one. The romance felt just okay at the beginning but I slowly began to enjoy them together with the further into the story I got. I really enjoyed the tension that was present with all the different relationships that were involved, It felt relatable which made me connect more to the story. Overall I had a great time reading this and would recommend it.

Fun read!

I really enjoyed this book. Even though Sarabeth was older than Brett, they felt like a very realistic couple. They were both coming out of their own difficult personal situations, and they were a good match for each other. You felt for Sarabeth’s situation and really wanted to see if she could work things out with her children and deal with her terrible ex husband. Brett was a very likeable character too and I was rooting for him to see a future with Sarabeth. This was definitely a fun and fast read.

The second book in the series brings older woman Sarabeth and younger man Brett's story. They each have their problems and now have the gossipers in town spreading rumors. Their chemistry is off the charts and their relationship grows stronger. The author pulls you in with her vividly painted scenes and had me turning the pages to see what happens next. I loved and would recommend this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

At the Rancher's Pleasure Sarabeth older woman who comes back to town rekindle her relationship with her children. Brett is her landlord, younger man. Brett has just got back to town after taking a trip from his broken engagement. Neither are looking for a relationship. Sarabeth knows what she wants. Brett likes to fix broken things. I enjoyed reading this book. I recieved an ARC from Net Galley/ Harlequin for my honest opinion.

Recovery

I loved the book and yet I still feel deprived of the wedding that I know took place and especially appreciated Sarabeth getting the opportunity to shit all over her ex who thought he was so high and mighty. So glad Brett and Sarabeth found the love and comfort they needed in one another. 🌹❤️
