We have now come to the last book in the Pawns of Patience series by Cassie James and in one way I liked how it concluded but on the other hand, some parts were a little disappointing at how un-dramatic they were as in a big climax and little reaction or action for that matter.
At the end of Book #3 Juliet had burst in on the boys and told them that she knew where Hollis's treasure was which has been the main storyline running through the books since Book #1 - people have been searching for it and wondering what was it was for years. The boys, however, are grumpy butts as they are jealous that she woke up in bed with Jake who btw didn't do anything but sleep. Later, of course, Jake gets welcomed into their group and Juliet's harem grows by one extra guy. The team all head down to the beach house and the guest cottage and learn the truth of the treasure and what it contains. In a way, the treasure goes hand in hand with what Juliet discovers the school guidance counsellor Mr. Peterson is trying to do as he has been busy working on an expose of the town of Patience and armed with what Juliet has and knows - could bring down the old world of Patience and help rebuild it with a new generation at the helm of Ahab's ship and of course a Lexington as always in the captain's chair as we also gain a quick insight to the meaning of all those Moby Dick books that have been busy floating around in everyone's bookshelf during the four books. As I said above, I did like how the series ended and came together quite nicely but there were a few parts of this book in particular that could have done with a bigger reaction as they were OMG moments that fell flat. As I have now concluded the Pawns of Patience series, I am looking forward to starting Cassie James's other series as I bid farewell to Juliet and her band of Romeo's.

It ended with a dull fizzle.

Mostly just sex and a few inconsequential reveals. Turns out Juliet's family was always the top family in the area--her grandfather's power and stash of dirty laundry on everyone proved it.

Basically, all praise I had for this series in the first two books was lost in the last two. Juliet is just constantly horny, pedantically begging for orgasms, and there's nothing much to make the latter half of the series worthwhile. I couldn't even get into the sex scenes because at this point, I hated Juliet, I hated Jax, and I didn't much care about any of the relationships.

Points made in the first two were contradicted here and it just felt like a chore to drag myself through these last two books.

I honestly wouldn't recommend this series. It really didn't achieve anything--not even a serviceable romance.

I’m glad the mystery is over.

For this bit of a buildup in to kind of be let down with the resolution. I really don’t know how to express my thoughts on this.

I’m just gonna say that I was let down with the sequence of events leading up to the ending.

I was hoping for a longer book,so we could get the nuances of the consequences that were being faced to those involved.

But I rest my case it’s still needed to be a duet and not a four part series!

the books get messier as the series goes on. it honestly didn’t even need to be 4 books long. the whole plot with the treasure thing just.... was boring and very anticlimactic. compared to the first two books, juliet was annoying in this last one. it felt very choppily written, like scenes were written out of order here and there and then put in order instead of having a natural flow. i really only enjoyed her scenes with jake and there weren’t that many of them. in fact she didn’t really have any scenes with any of the guys as much as she had with jax, so you can clearly tell who’s the favorite.

btw i hate jax. i hate his complete 180 in character “development” that came from nowhere. he’s the worst. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Oh wow, this was amazing.

I had previously read the first 3 in this amazing series and was blown away with how good they were. This is even better. OMG, I could not put it down.

The writing is amazing, it has such smooth transitions throughout you arn't even aware of the change in pace, the story will keep you interested from the moment that you start reading all the way till the end of the last page and the characters are so life like that you feel as though you know them personally. You feel as though you are experiencing what they are and you want to see them overcome everything that they run into.

This book this needs to be read, no doubt about.

What a great conclusion to this series!! I have enjoyed following the story of Juliet and her guys!

As usual, Cassie James has written a book that keeps you interested and is smooth and fluid. You can picture it in your head like a movie, it just flows.

Juliet was a great, strong FMC. I like that the money didnt change her, and I liked how different her relationships were with each of the 5 guys.. but I wont lie, I was kinda irritated when she was adding Jake in. I was like, are you serious?! No. What are you doing. But, I came around, and actually appreciated Jake's place in the relationship.

**Sigh** Sad it's over.

The books got progressively worse

The first boom was really good, but by the 4th it was ridiculous. The mc was so wish washy, and the boys were winey jerks. It was too push and pull for the relationships.

Overall this was a fairly satisfying conclusion to a series I enjoyed reading, though it’s far from perfect.

As usual this book picks up right where the last one ended. Juliet announces that she knows where her grandfather hid his treasure, but the guys don’t care. They’re upset that she shared a bed with Jake the night before even though it’s pretty obvious nothing happened. The first quarter of the book is focused on this relationship drama. Juliet is a total mess, and the guys can’t get her to talk coherently about any of it. At one point she melts down and tries to break up with all of them. Once she calms down she basically chooses her guys over Jake.

They make plans to visit the Lexington beach house where Juliet believes the treasure is located. The guys wind up inviting Jake to come along, deciding there’s room for one more if he makes their girl happy. Jake is a little hesitant, but he cares enough about Juliet to join the group. At the beach they discover the treasure is actually files containing the secrets of apparently just about every resident in Patience. Now it’s up to Juliet to decide what to do with this information.

I had two big issues with this book. First, I didn’t enjoy the relationship drama at the beginning. I can understand why the guys were upset, but they should have let Juliet explain. It also would have been nice if they were a little more supportive. She just lost her only living relative. I’d like to think that’s why she was such a mess, but still it was a little ridiculous when she tried to break up with all of them. I wish they could have worked things out as a group rather than the guys making the decision to invite Jake. Yes, it was what Juliet really wanted, but it didn’t feel like they resolved anything.

My second issue was with the “treasure.” I agree with other reviewers that this reveal fell flat. It also didn’t make much sense to me. Why did Hollis brag about his treasure? Was he just taunting people? Making sure they remembered he knew their secrets? I expect a significant number knew what the treasure was so why did they turn it into a mythical story for their kids?

Having said all of that, I thought it was an interesting moral dilemma for Juliet. I also enjoyed seeing her take a position of power in the town even though it was a little ridiculous. I mean how convenient was it that the society consisted of the parents of Juliet’s boys?

Once again the story really dragged at times, primarily when they were all at the beach house. Also, the author never managed to change my mind and convince me Jax was anywhere close to a decent guy. At one point he tries to justify that he bullied Juliet in the first book to make her strong enough to survive in Patience. I don’t believe that, and I still think he’s a jerk.

This series was so odd for me. In the moment I enjoyed reading each book. There’s just something about the author’s writing style that appeals to me, and I flew through each one. At the same time I found myself frustrated with how little actually happened, and the fact that I didn’t exactly care that much for the guys. I’m glad I read this though, and I can see myself revisiting it in the future. I’m also definitely going to continue with the author’s Banner-Hill series.

Trite and unoriginal *spoilers*

The worst RH Bully series ever. Don’t bother - only the first and third books had any decent parts (only the ending at that).

“Sexy” times (though to call it that is an insult to actual authors who rock it, e.g. Tate James, CM Stunich, etc) are so boring - the entire time. It doesn’t get any better at all. It’s as though it’s written by an underage high school kid, IMO.

Even the mystery is weird. The buried treasure is people’s secrets ... boring! I had hopes for this part, at least, to be alright.

It’s an entire series where nothing really happens. Also, the author clearly has racist tendencies - “Kareem Nazar” is the rapist douche (ugh).

Do better.

Book 4 of 4.
This was my first read series by this author and I quite enjoyed it.
It starts out as a bully situation which is actually quite mild (I've read worse) but it is quickly overtaken by the mystery of the treasure.
I would have thought Juliet would have been a bit more ballsy given the environment she grew up in and the things she apparently saw/experienced but she starts out quite meek and very eager to follow and please. However she does show glimpses of having a backbone in the beginning and with time evolves and grows in to her Queen role.
There is obvious tension and jealousy as the harem is established so it is realistic that we don't have any group scenes and with a couple of minor exceptions her interactions with the guys tend to be 1-on-1.

Saviors is the fourth book in Pawns of Patience series. The ending was alright, if not underwhelming and a bit dull. After the third one that was full of surprises so I guess I just expected more. She gets it on with all the boys but not that many romantic scenes were present. It was mostly about Hollis' Treasure and what would Juliet do with it. I've felt that all of this in the fourth book could've just been in book three and it would've probably had a better flow than an entire book focused on them basically reading papers.

Gonna keep it a 4/5 stars as a whole series, though maybe the fourth one deserved three stars tops.

I know some reviews will disagree-- but I enjoyed the ending to this series. It wasn't the usual bully end and I loved that. The twists and turns all slowly made sense as those last couple of chapters were revealed.
The final harem, I totally called it. I won't lie. Figured there were going to be some dramatics with the group and it would settle in the end. I adore it and I would absolutely love an update of the group later on. I'm always trash for the happy updates of the couple(s).

Loose ends tied up

The final book of the Pawns of Patience series and I finally have all my answers. I have enjoyed this series, I think that the story was good but it could have been more. I loved Juliet and her morals. I loved each of the guys finding a balance. It was well written and the final book ties up all of the unanswered questions. I think maybe I would have liked an extended epilogue but what we were given was enough.

Okay, I did NOT think Jake was gonna join the harem wtf. Did I miss the signs or something? It was annoying how she couldn't wholeheartedly tell the other 4 guys that she didn't want Jake.

Overall, I'd give the series 3 stars. I don't regret reading, but there def were important factors like relationship development missing, plus an MC that could be extremely annoying.

Couldn’t do it

1st chapter in and I’m annoyed. Why are the guys always in the wrong!? I get it’s from her POV but - UGH - nothing happened but she still slept in a bed with another guy. What if the tables were turned!? Would she be ok with them sleeping with other girls!? I get that Jake will probably be part of this harem too but I’m over it.

Perfect ending!

I loved the twists and turns of this book and how things came full circle! It really was a great ending! The only thing really missing was ,honestly, the sex. I mean it's a bunch of high school guys! There just wasn't enough bonding or excitement with several characters. Other than that, this was the best of the four books!

Lacking the smut of a harem

When reading a RH, you know that dirty sex scenes are a must. Here, nothing is far from the truth. I enjoyed the story line but it dragged on.
The chemistry with the characters fell. I've read my fair share of RH, and this was not something I'd tell a friend about.

This author did kind of a strange thing. All of the books in this series are available through the Kindle Unlimited program - EXCEPT for book three. Since I am a confirmed KU user I skipped book three.

Did I miss anything? Apparently a rape attempt, and Aunt Pearl's death, but doesn't seem like anything else. I don't think reading it would have changed my rating here.

Secrets out

In the first book it was said that secrets were the best currency... It seems that was true. So many secrets uncovered, but finally answers for our group. The relationships start off rocky in the beginning but they find their way. Lots of hot steamy scenes too. Juliet comes into her name and legacy. It was a good ending to the series.

Interesting series

Cassie James does a good job with the flow and keeping us guessing at the mystery of the treasure. I found the relationships believable and character development good. I do wish the climax had a little more danger to it though.

Good

I loved the series! Enjoyed the last book- but it feels like it’s not over. We are missing things, and the relationships just don’t feel completely settled yet. I vote for another book of Juliet and her sexy guys for sure!

Just ok

I wish she didn’t add Jake it just seemed so last minute add on. The individual relationships could have been more developed. But all in all a good series.

Wow

So worth the read. I’m not even ashamed to say that I read all 4 books in one night. Sleep, who needs sleep? Well, I do. But I guess it will come tonight, lol.
This one has all the answers. I loved waiting on baited breath for the reveals.
That epilogue nearly killed me though. It was a story that is complete, but I still would have read more.

A series I can get behind

Pawns of Patience is a completed 4 book series. It’s a slow-burn bully to lovers RH with loads of mystery.

The characters are developed through all four books. Our leading lady, Juliet, has a legacy to uphold but coming from nothing and nowhere (losing everything she knew) has been a difficult journey but she needs to be strong for whats to come eventually. Like a real person though Juliet has her flaws and she continues to be a martyr which annoyed me sometimes, I really would of liked to see her lash out sometimes but for obvious reason would have changed the dynamics.
Her live interests start off shaker and I like the fact that you can see each of them working through issues, their relationship isn’t perfect, each of them have made mistakes and it’s all of them as a unit to work things out. There is no insta-love but you can count on a HEA at the end of book 4.

The storyline is quite well thought out, the mystery surrounding Hollis’ treasure is only a piece of the mystery there are so many other plot twists that encouraged me to continue to read. (It was hard to put the books down I really like a treasure hunt!)

The only downside of the books and why I couldn’t give a 5-star rating was the grammar errors through each of the books.

HOLY MOLY

I will admit I'm surprised there is so much revelation in this one book. I love the strength and courage that Juliet comes into. She becomes quite the little sex kitten, not to mention she's one lucky bi**h to have five different guys to play with, that's five different styles to be pleasured with. WOW!!! As things start to be revealed I was kind of disappointed at what the hidden treasure turned out to be. It wasn't a treasure at all. It was a nightmare for poor Juliet but I think it really brought her into her own. I have to admit I was surprised that the guys excepted Jake the way they did. At times I laughed alittle and had tears in my eyes when the big argument between them happens. My heart was breaking for poor Juliet but I just wanted her to stand up for herself and make them listen to her. I was pleasantly surprised by parts of this book but I think we need one more book in this series. Lol. We need to see where the fab five and Juliet go from here. I want to know if she marries one of them and if she gives Pearl her final wish to fill the house with babies. I loved this series. I highly recommend this series to everyone. I need more!
