I stumbled across Daddy PI by accident,and i am só glad i did!
Logan is HOT and the perfect Daddy for her.
And Emily is sweet and so perfect for him.
I am not a fan of instalove or instalust,but these two?
After finding eachother?
They make it work for me,totally!
Logan needs a sub for the investigation he’s been asked to do.
Going to the Salt City kink expo,he hopes to find one he can work with.
When he sees Emily,he’s intrigued,and he hangs around to see how she reacts to other Doms.
After she dismisses a few,he decides to approach her.
Finding out what she is,and what she likes?
He knows he wants to see more of her,and invites her to join him at his club for an evening.
He never thought being a Daddy was something for him,but research tells him he likes the idea.
And how Emily behaves when she’s little,makes him want to protect her from other men.
Emily is looking for a Dom who can deal with her little ánd her kinks.
The Doms that approach her on the kink expo disappoint her.

The couple: Logan and Emily
Romance genre: DDlg/bdsm
Series: Daddy P.I. Casefiles
Length: 214 pages
Plot: Logan is many things: ex-military, sadist, dominant, and private investigator. He's also in need of both a submissive and an assistant. He has a big case coming up; there's a kinky cruise line that had a recent customer die, and they want to make sure it wasn't their fault. It seems that there were drugs involved, and they've hired Logan to determine what happened. But to go undercover on the cruise, he needs a sub with him. His last long-term sub broke up with him (that's a whole story) about 6 months ago, and even though he has access to other subs at his club, there's issues there too (again, a whole other story). So he goes to a kink convention, and there he finds Emily. She's looking for a Daddy Dom, and Logan has never been a Daddy before. Something with Emily just feels right, though, and she agrees to go on the cruise with him as his sub.
Character development: So, just to start: A lot of prequels, especially ones that you get for free (like I got this one, through BookFunnel), are short, 60-80 page kind of things that barely introduce the characters. Not this one. This is a whole book. Definitely worth the read.
Both characters are compelling in their own ways. Logan is damaged and doesn't seem to realize it. Whatever happened with his last sub, Miranda (and you will find out over the course of this prequel and the next two books in the series), has left him reeling. At one point, Logan says to Emily:
It's hard to read that while he's laying there in bed with Emily. But Logan is all about honesty and communication, and at this point, I'm not sure he realizes how deeply he was hurt by Miranda. But Emily has her own issues, and hers run even deeper than Logan's. She needs a lot from him - pain to feel good, a Daddy to take care of her, reassurance, a buffer between her and the rest of the world; but Emmy gives as much as she gets. That's the beautiful thing about these two. They're not selfish with each other, even though Logan sounds like he is sometimes.
(also, I don't want to imply that this guy is an addict or anything, but 500+ partners? Dude, that's...just wow. And I don't know how they get anything else done because all they do is scene. 500. 500.)
So I'll admit that while I've read several books that heavily feature bdsm (not the one you're thinking of :rolleyes:), I don't know any technical aspects of the lifestyle. Well, I didn't. I do now! This book is very detailed, and part of that is because of the sort of Dom Logan is - methodical and strategic. He doesn't just throw things out there to see if they'll stick. At the same time, I didn't feel like I was reading an instruction manual (like I have in some books before) because explanations were done through actual scenes or organic conversations.

I started reading Daddy PI #1 and after the first chapter I immediately came and read #0.5 first. I felt like I was missing out on Emily and Logan’s backstory and how they met and I definitely was. I’m glad I decided to read this first.
Logan kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t think I like him very much but I’m not sure the exact reason why. Part of it is the dude had 500 sexual partners and fuuuuuck that. Another thing is that he kept referring to other women as “bombshells” but to Emily as more plain. I didn’t highlight the exact words he used but it was something along those lines...
The whole running into his ex-sub Rachel at the club definitely put a sour taste in my mouth. Especially since she was asking for time with Logan right in front of Emily. Yuck.
The whole Daddy aspect in this book isn’t the usual I normally read. This felt like more of a Master Dom/sub thing with a touch of daddy added in. I’m not really all that into other bdsm kinks so that could be one reason why this wasn’t connecting with me.
I also got frustrated in that Logan kept asking Emily to talk about her past but he didn’t really want to elaborate on his past. He wants to build trust with her but it really only felt one-way. It was mostly her talking about herself and him avoiding answers to her questions. At least that’s what it felt like to me.
Aside from my own issues with this, it was a decent read. It felt a bit long but sometimes that’s a good thing. The writing was also pretty good and I didn’t have an issue there.
I do kinda want to continue reading the next Daddy PI story in this series. We’ll see. I’ll give this one a 3.25⭐️ maybe. It just wasn’t completely my thing but I’m sure others will enjoy this.

I read Daddy P.I., and then immediately grabbed 0.5!! I’m one who usually doesn’t care to backtrack when I already know where the characters go, but EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS NEW AND FABULOUS! Emily and Logan’s meeting and first date is captivating and just made me love them more (which seriously, I didn’t realize was possible).
I highly, HIGHLY recommend this series full of kink and beautiful emotions.

I loved everything about this. I have never highlighted more things than I have in this book. Also, I’ve never read a relationship that felt more personally resonant with me (though Emily is significantly more of a masochist than I could ever picture for myself). Anyway, if you’re looking for a Daddy Dom who is competent, hyper-focused on his little and extremely caring, this is your book. Also, if you like your age play without diapering and without annoying juvenile brattiness, this is your book. The sex and play were both original. Just awesome.
P.S. Sadly, this book worked better for me than Book 1, which I DNF’d. I didn’t feel that what I loved about Logan in this book was the same in Book 1. But, in my mind, I’m pretending this prequel is an INCREDIBLE standalone.

Emily is looking for a Daddy Dom, but hasn’t had much luck in the past. Logan is looking for a sub, for a special assignment and only has a few days to find one. Can he be her Daddy? The chemistry between these two main characters is instantaneous, but a few small red flags appear...is it jealousy, is he being honest? Warning...this story continues in the next book.

I got this prequel free from the author's website and love it! It's the perfect beginning to a sweet relationship! It isn't necessary to enjoy and understand book 1, but it just helps you to love the characters so much more because you understand them more!

after starting book 1 in this series i wanted to know how emmy and logan met, so i emailed the author and she kindly sent this book to me. for me it makes everything glue together. you get to know the characters inside and out from their first interactions. the back story of this book is a must for me below you sink your teeth into this amazing series. if your into kink or not the murder mystery element will be enough to hold your attention if nothing else. this series will open your mind to a whole new way of thinking. it just gets better and better.

I loved this book. This book tells the story of how Logan and Emily met and how their relationship developed. I often find most of the male characters in this genre pretty rigid. This was not the case in this book. Logan and Emily’s relationship is more fluid than what is typically seen and because of this dynamic, it's really easy to fall for these characters. The book moves quickly but gives enough attention to detail that makes it a satisfying read. I can’t wait to start the next one!

Stand Alone? This is the prequel to the first book in the Daddy PI series so while it could be enjoyed as a stand alone (if you aren’t looking for the HEA and complete love story) it stops right before the beginning of the next book and while it isn’t a complete cliffhanger, for someone with an addiction to the story (like me) it feels like a cliffhanger.
I am not usually really big on giving shorts 5⭐️s (because I usually feel like I am missing something or wish something was elaborated on) but OMG Logan and Emily are *Swoon* EVERYTHING! This isn’t your average DD/lg book and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT! Here’s why… yes I adore DD/lg books, but I also love D/s books, and M/s books and club books and S&M. With this book I felt like I got ALL of that and an EXCEPTIONAL story to boot!
I honestly could not have been ANY HAPPIER with this prequel. Like, for real. It seemed to me it was absolutely perfect. It definitely made me ready to completely DEVOUR the rest of the series. It could be that my need to escape right now is super high but I honestly don’t think so, this book had me so caught up that I laughed out loud at some things (when I was sure the most I would do was smile), I cried a few tears for Emily (which honestly the tears didn’t surprise me given my current emotional state, but the fact that they were COMPLETELY for Emily DID surprise me), and spent most of the book on the edge of my seat and absolutely absorbed in finding out what would happen next.
This book may not be a Godsend for everyone, but for me it was, and I am completely in love now. I hope E J Frost is ready for an onslaught of reviews now, because I don’t think I am going to be stopping until I have read the entire E J Frost library of published works. I am hooked, from one short novella, and there is no turning back now. Reading game on!

What a great beginning to what I think will be a fabulous series. This book really delves into the Little part of kink play. I thought I knew - but not totally! This is a hot read while you get the beginning of an adventure. With the added Little who has self-confidence but does she totally and Daddy is a HOT (in Emily's eyes) PI and belongs to a "Gentlemen's" club that I can't wait to read more about that club. Slight cliff-hanger - but just wanting to hear more about the club and the cruise will be enough to want lots more!

The story does suffer a little from insta-love/affection, but that can be forgiven by the superb relation/telling of the scenes Logan does with Emily. Hard BDSM practices, so if you want lite stuff, this isn't it!
Hopefully, the 2 next books will be up to the same standard (yes, they're already downloaded) :)

I’ve never read a daddy kink book. I don’t know how I feel about it. I love the mystery portion like hard core and I’m definitely learning about DK. Two more books in this series to wrap my head around it :)

This book was a good introduction to the Daddy Dom world. If you’ve never read anything like it before this would be a good first step. It doesn’t go easy on you, it dives you straight into the world of the Dom/Sub life, but it shows you what it’s like in their relationships. The way that Logan and Emily interact with each other draws you in and makes you want to know more. I’m so drawn into the story and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

This book was amazing! I devoured it start to finish and stayed up way too late to do so.
James Logan a PI, who goes by Logan, is at a kink expo while on a break in between clients when he runs into Emily Martin, a historical romance author. Emily having not had the best relationships having her feel of abusive partners and emotionally unavailable Doms in her past is looking for a new and true Daddy Dom. Logan immediately feels a connection to Emily but he’s never been a Daddy before. Logan knows the only way to see if they’ll work is to go though an audition or two in a bathroom and gentleman’s club.
Can Logan be the Daddy Dom Emily is looking for?
Will Emily let Logan in?
The kink and spice in this was great! You can tell that EJ Frost really knew what she was writing about. There’s was also a good balance of steamy to story line and I’m very interested to see how Logan and Emily’s relationship grows and how they manage work and personal life.
James Logan a PI, who goes by Logan, is at a kink expo while on a break in between clients when he runs into Emily Martin, a historical romance author. The kink and spice in this was great! You can tell that EJ Frost really knew what she was writing about. There’s was also a good balance of steamy to story line and I’m very interested to see how Logan and Emily’s relationship grows and how they manage work and personal life.

An Excellent beginning to the Daddy P.I. Series, tells you how the main characters got to know each other and how they got started. It is entertaining and gives you a good idea how the characters are going to be and a good idea how the writer is going to handle them.

I've read several BDSM books and I always really enjoyed them, who doesn't like a good spanking?? This book was definitely interesting because it wasn't only about BDSM, but about the Daddy Dom and his little which if you are unfamiliar with that term, it's the Dom playing Daddy and his little is an adult acting as a little girl. It was a little weird for me because I wasn't sure how I felt about the Dom pretending to have sex with a little girl but while it might not be my type of kink, it's something others might be into.
Now while I wasn't necessarily into the type of BDSM that this book had in it, I really like the FMC, Emily as well as the MMC, Logan. I loved how Logan was able to give Emily what she needed and he really went over and beyond for her during sex and outside of the sex. I love the aspect of the after care when it comes to BDSM. The Dom wants to take care of the sub after sex and knowing that Logan went over and beyond to make sure she felt cared for, comfortable and even went as far as cleaning her up and snuggling her after each scene. I also loved that this book had other aspects to it besides just BDSM scenes and sex, I really want to read the next book in this sequel because I really want to see what happens with Logan and Emily due to the cliffhanger the book ended on. Even if you aren't normally into BDSM, but you do like smutty books or erotica, I would highly recommend this book because it's so much more than just BDSM!!

Logan and Emily are a perfect fit. The way their relationship starts is what dreams are made of. Logan fits his role, like it's meant for him. Emily is like a flower who just needs a little water and sun to bloom. Beautifuly written.

I give this one 4.5 stars. It’s not as good as the other 2, but it fills in a lot of the blanks. It answered some questions on how they met and gives a little more background. I would definitely still read 1 first, and then come back to this one. I love this series!

I loved everything about this book. This book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series. This book has some Daddy Dom in it, and I mean who doesn't like a man who is in control in the bedroom. I highly recommend reading this book and the rest of the series if you like sex and play type books.

This is a prequel story where you get to meet Logan and Emily, and learn a little about how they got started. I’ll be honest, this type of dynamic (daddy-dom and little-sub) isn’t my jam BUT the way it was written was excellent. I enjoyed the story and am intrigued to see how the next few books turn out.

This is the first time I'm reading from author E J Frost. I must say that I love her style of writing. I love how there's an actual story behind the kink . In this story you actually get the feeling of knowing the two main characters, Especially Emily. I love her personality and how she's trying to figure herself out. I love how she has two sides to her little space. You really don't see that in alot of books. It's not your typical DD/LG which I love. I can't wait for the next book.
