Alarick has dealt with an array of difficult things in his life--his father disappearing, his mother dying, becoming the president of his club. His life hasn't been easy, and it's certainly never been simple. But he knows how to handle this world. There isn't a single thing in it he can't deal with...until now.Bodies are showing up on his doorstep. People are uncovering lie upon lie. Those he trusts are making him doubt. Danger is lurking in every corner. He's trapped between wanting to protect those he loves and finding out the truth. The woman he cares about is treading on dangerous grounds, and he can do nothing to stop her.If he doesn't find a solution soon, more lives will end, and the terror will continue. How is he supposed to fix what's broken, when he can't even find the crack? How is he supposed to protect his club, when everything he thought he knew is a lie?Alarick knows one thing for certain: whatever monster is out there, it hasn't met him yet.
So, I started book #2 Flick because I really wanted to know how all those twists and turns from book #1 Alarick would play out. HOWEVER, after a few chapters, I already thought about quitting…. it was that awful. 🥴😖 The heroine is so STUPID… while the author wants to make you believe she is the smartest girl alive! Briella has done, and continued doing crazy stupid things. Example? She promised not to go outside, where the enemy just dropped a dead, mutilated body at the gate. What does she do?? Yep… go outside, to the dead girl…. and of course gets shot at… and the others have to come rescue her! And that was not the only time. Things like that happen ALL the time. Don’t go to the police; what does she do? Exactly that! She makes promises, doesn’t keep them…. and gets into a lot of trouble. In book #1 I could ‘understand’ some of it… but in book #2, when things go from bad to worse.... she should know better!! Right?? But she keeps doing stupid shit!! 😒 And everybody keeps forgiving her! Un-f#cking-believable!! 🤯 This book is frustrating... and disappointing! The storyline was interesting and absolutely had potential.... but not with this utterly stupid female MC and a male MC who really tried to safe the story but had no chance in hell to succeed! BTW, why does Alarick think it’s okay to lie and keep important shit from his ‘brothers’ and expects everybody to keep trusting him? And on top of all that: again NO closure. 🤬 We, the readers, have to wait for the next book to find out about Dax & de hele donderse bende. Well... I for sure WON’T be finding out... I’ve had enough; I can’t handle another book. One thing I hate not finding out is: Karen acts like she is Briella’s friend but somehow I never trusted her. Is she who she pretends to be?
The story and characters just keep getting better with each book.
Alarick “Flick” took over as the President of the King’s Descendants MC before he was actually ready to, but he had no choice. It also meant that he had to keep secrets, dangerous secrets, that could destroy the club and get him killed. He is determined now to keep his woman Briella safe, healthy, and out of trouble.
Briella has a secret that she has been asked to keep. She isn’t sure if she was dreaming, still under the influence of drugs from her surgery, or it if was real, but she saw her stepfather, King again. He’s supposed to be dead, but is he actually alive? Briella has come to terms with her sister’s death, but now she has some new information. The new information and secrets that she is carrying will put her in more danger and trouble because she can’t help herself from digging up the truth.
This story is full of suspense, twists, intrigue, danger, and a very strong-willed woman who doesn’t think before she reacts. Flick and Briella are explosive together in more than one way, they butt heads because she is so strong headed, and he is trying to protect his club as well as her. Secrets will come between these two and they will fight to overcome their distrust and stay on top of the danger that they are all in, but they won’t give up trying to get answers or finding peace in those answers and destroying the group that is threatening not only them, but also the people around them.
I give this story a 5-star review and loved every page I read. I cannot wait for the next book. I highly recommend this book and series if you like MC, dark material, Hero’s that are a little tarnished, or strong women who get themselves into all kinds of trouble. I love the characters in this story and am looking forward to more on the men of the MC, as well as the women that drive them nuts. I also love the unique names of the characters in this book.
2.5 stars. Unfortunately worse than the first book. Briella the h got even worse with her TDTL antics. I think we're going to see a running theme in this series which will probably have me stopping this series. FMCs who act all tough, but then are dumb as rocks. Then projecting just how smart they are when really they're getting people shot and killed. I hate these kinds of heriones in my MC books. The relationship between Alarick and Briella is so boring and there's hardly any chemistry between them to be honest. We get introductions to new FMC leads for later books who are probably going to act exactly like Briella. Also, none of the plot was fathomable. The dead father who was just hiding in the woods rescuing trafficked victims yet not getting caught when they're dealing with powerful people. It was just ridiculous. This also ended on a cliffy unfortunately, but I'm not sure I have the stamina to deal with Waverly the next h. She thinks she's tough shit and she already annoys me. She'll end up with Mykel which is unfortunate for him.
I normally love Bella Jewel's books but this one was very hard to read through. I skimmed through most of the book just to get to the end. The heroine is too immature, selfish and frankly too stupid to live. I also detest cliffhanger series or having to buy and read a second book because the first book ends without finishing the story.
Nah once she was outside when she was told not to getting shot at?? I couldn’t stand the stupid bitch. This girl is fucking stupid I refuse to continue
This book was just okay for me. Flick and Bri have some moments of just plain stupidity between them. Each of lying to the other for one reason or another. Brielle has not a clue how to react to normal situations, let alone danger. Her inability to think things through caused several problems in this book. It got real old after a while. Flick seemed to think that whatever he wanted to do as long as it pertained to helping the club was all right. He seemed to not understand that he needed to own his own mistakes and lies. I just didn't quite like either character enough to become invested in them. The whole Cova thing was just a bit much. Felt the Cova story line didn't really need to be added into this book. It does end on a cliffy and sets up Mykel's book.
Why did all the side character have more personality than the main characters? And I get bikers are supposed to be all alpha male not innocent little virgins but why did Alerick’s ex’s have to keep coming up? Even when they’re about to have sex he’s thinking about how he’s been in similar positions with other women he’s been with so many women that Briella’s best and pretty much only friend is his ex fuck buddy and that whole brain tumor thing what was the point, all it did was give Briella a few headaches then it’s easily removed and that chemo she was supposed to get is forgotten, she’s up and walking like nothing ever happened
DNF at page 86.... I hate to not finish but I can't stand Bri and her stupidity. I could tolerate her on the first book because she was desperate due to Rupert. We all saw how that ended and now she's back at it again, and without Rupert, so there's no excuse whatsover. She is simply being a brat and an idiot. I can't read a book where I don't like the leading lady. I just can't! Sorry! I feel so bad for Flick. He deserves better!
Alarick "Flick" became the president of the mc and has dangerous secrets he has to keep. Briella is investigating the secret that Flick is keeping and it could get her killed along with his club brothers. Flick is trying to do everything he can to keep his woman and club safe but will it be enough? A good read and shaping up to be a great series.
This was not a favorite. I’d did a lot of eye rolling and seeing how much longer in the chapter. I kept wondering when something exciting would happen.
This is the second book in the series and it picks up right after the cliffie from book #1. This continues the story of the MC president Alarick "Flick". The club has a lot going on and it was nice to see a bit more of the MC in this book vs book #1.
That said, I know Briella is young. But there were times I just wanted to hit her over the head. She grew up in the life. Despite her being angry at Flick for a variety of things, she really should know better. If the Pres says you stay put so you are safe, you listen. Much of the drama in the book could have been avoided if Bri was just listening and tuning in to what Flick was saying.
I liked how the story unfolded. We find out quite a bit about Bri's mom and sister. Many gaps that presented them self in ALARICK were filled in.
The book ends with a peek at what may come in the next book. I am interested to read more, just to see where this club is headed.
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
This book had so much potential but Briella just about ruined it. In the first book she threatens a guy by saying she push over his pot plant...oh scary. So we are to believe she is spineless and can't stand up for herself. Now this book she is this fierce heroin who is willing to sacrifice and do anything to find the answers she needs to who killed her family. She acts so tough and yet is about the stupidest character I have read in a long time. I was so disappointed in her and with the fact the Flick pretty much forgave her and gave into her instead of putting his foot down and stopping her from doing the stupid shit she was doing. Also this book is all over the place, it doesn't have a smooth flow, just seems to jump from one situation to another. With the knowledge that Briella's mom was looking for her sister was out of left field. If she could go off with her two other kids why did she feel the need to give one away? Throwing whatever into the mix to make it more dramatic but ended more in chaos.
Ahhh the suspense is killing me! I literally had heart my heart beating out of my chest for the majority of this book with anxiousness! Bring on book 3!
I loved the first book and was beyond excited to read this one. I love Bella’s writing style and completely and totally fell in love with Alarick and Briella’s love story, however I didn’t care for them in this book.
Bri lost some of her funny charm and smart decision making skills. I genuinely enjoyed her in the first book, laughing specifically when she threatened to tip over the potted plant, but in Flick, I lost her personality. She was irrational and either crying or yelling majority of the time. It felt like she was a sidekick to her own story, same with Alarick.
To read his POV was fantastic, truly, but I lost connection with him as well. I completely get that he has a club to run and sh*t went down but, in my opinion, he spent more time with the club than Bri. I wanted to see their love blossom but instead they were either yelling at each other or handling business (still badass) with the occasional sex scene. This just didn’t feel like their love story anymore, it just felt like a platform to introduce Mykel/Waverly and Zariah/Fredric.
I was a little disappointed but I will continue to read more from this author and of this series. Thank you for writing Alarick and Flick, you’re a wonderful author!
Super quick read. Typical MC story which I love but the heroine was super annoying and made stupid decisions. The hero wasn't much better and didn't strike me as a very good president.
So many plot-holes and uncharacteristic behaviour - the whole biker gang backing down in front of the baddie, letting the other bad guy go (then going back to kill him but he had escaped), the king side story, allowing the bad cop be released, Waverly just happens to be a crack undercover agent but wandering freely about talking to the bikers etc. Just too many silly plot-holes. The heroine's extreme reaction to everything, also quickly forgotten when the hero looks at her in a sexy way.
Book 1 was a decent read this second part let it down. Plus there seems to be a running storyline arc involved which won't be finished any time soon. I wish I had known about this before diving in. I hate cliffhangers. I will read the other books in tine as it wasn't altogether a bad story, just frustrating. It really was an OK read. Short too, so didn't take too much time.

That was painful! I rarely hate a book, but I hated this one. Hated the caracters. I roled my eyed so many times, I am surprised they are not stuck. Hated that at the end of the book, there is still no answer. I will not suffer trough the entire serie so get those answers. ------- I had to take a break in the middle of the book. I will finish it because I paid for it, but IT SUCKS!!! Bre is sooooo stupid. I can't believe she is still alive with the bad choices she makes. The tumor she had in the first book gets removed, and we don't here about it after, like it magically never happened. I also don't understand why Flick and Bre are together. The don't seems to love each other. They always lie and they don't trust one another. The first book ended with so many questions unanswered, so I wanted to read the second. But it doesn't seems like I'm gonna get the answers in this book. I wont be reading (or listening to the audiobook, in my case) the rest of this serie.
Ok I loved book one, loved the story, the characters, and the mystery, drama, love and family. Even though it was a cliffhanger I still enjoyed it. This book.... Briella got on my dang nerves!! Stupid doesn’t even begin to describe the way she acted and put herself and others in danger! She ruined the book! Due to her stupid stunts, her thoughtless actions I couldn’t wait to be done with this book. I was so excited for a conclusion and Mykel and Waverlys story but to be honest I’m not sure I’ll come back to this series to find my conclusion! Seriously a character gone bad and continued unanswered questions and storyline can ruin a series. Stepping away from this series maybe I’ll come back around... maybe not!🤷♀️
After the cliffhanger we had at the end of the first book, the truth begins to unravel. And everything begins to get complicated. Alarick and his men will try to take some bad guys down. And it will not be easy. Honesty, I found Briella a little bit annoying. She risks her life and the club because she always thinks she knows better. I hope she changes a little bit in the next book. I can't wait to read the stories of the rest of the guys!
Brielle isn't one to hold back her thoughts, “I have to say, the way your ***k jumps around in those sweats is making me ready for round two,” I loved seeing the affection Flick had for his woman, "he grins, presses another kiss to my nose, and then says, “I’ve got ***t to do, baby..." I liked this book, I can't wait to see what goes on next.
OMG, still have a very big "dislike" for Brielle. I'm at 38% and want to DNF this book. I'm sadden that Bella Jewel MC books have gone downhill. They are nothing like her first 2 MC stories. May have to drop her as my go to read.
