Why do they call me Khan? It’s the road name I got when I came to The Midnight Syndicate MC. After Genghis Khan vicious ruler, lover of women, what can I say we may have some things in common.I never was ashamed of the name until her… until I had to have responsibilities. One would think that taking in my goddaughter when her father was arrested would have changed my life the most, but no it was when Billie Saxs came into my life. Flipping my world upside down. Even if she’s married I will do anything to protect her. Even if that thing to protect her from is her husband or even myself… what can I say? Some say I have a hero complex…
Series is finished. Final book being released November 2021.
The MC aspect of the story was very well done, lacing in with Billie's life drama. And the spark between Billie and Khan.... lord. I'm surprised I didn't catch on fire!!! I'm already desperately making my way to book two, to find out the conclusion of this epic love story.
Okay, that ending, not fair. But that kiss?!?!? The smut!?!?! HOT!!!! Tetterton knows how to build an MC world with an engaging and fresh plot and how to stay true to her characters. Flawlessly delivered.
Khan is an alpha male through and through when he falls for Billie who is strong willed but married. The storyline is good and moves at a good pace. There are hot kisses throughout and 1 ‘dirty’ scene near the end. My biggest issue is the wording and grammatical errors throughout—which can be easily fixed. Also, some of the scenarios I questioned-like with the military life insurance policy information. Andddd I was hoping for a little more steam x) but overall great work! I love the relationships between Khan and Fury and Billie and Lucy! They are super sweet and their banter made my laugh throughout the book. If you like dark romances with a slow burn and hot bikers (and can look past the errors), this book is for you!
This is book 1 in the Midnight Syn MC series. True confession time - I have a weakness for Motorcycle Club romances! I guess I never COMPLETELY got over my "bad boy with a heart of gold" phase. In case you aren't familiar with the MC trope, let me give you one very important piece of information - there are those MC books in which the club is trying to "go legit" (trying to distance themselves from illegal activities) and those in which the club is a part of the 1% (clubs that are shady and make no effort to change things). This one leans more toward the 1% side of things but only "so far." (Example - when given a chance to run a brothel, Khan rejects the idea.)
Khan has a reputation both with other clubs for his temper and with the ladies for his . . . prowess. When the club president, Oz, takes a deal that will leave him locked up for a significant length of time, Khan suddenly finds himself voted in as President by the rest of the club AND acting as guardian for Oz's daughter, Emma.
Billie loves her job as principal at an exclusive high school and her husband's extended absences while deployed allow her to kid herself about the state of their relationship. Her best friend Lucy is persistent in trying to get Billie to see that Brad, the frequently absent husband, has mentally and emotionally beaten her down into a completely different person than the carefree woman Billie used to be.
When Billie and Khan meet it's all about Ella, Khan's "ward", and the possibility of her attending the elite school where Billie works. But even though the first meeting isn't about them at all, neither one of them can deny that there is chemistry. Billie just chalks it up to the fact that her husband has been gone for six months and she's lonely. Khan doesn't understand his response to Billie at all since he tends to be the "love 'em and leave 'em" type. And thus the slow burn begins.
Khan learns secrets about Brad that leave him extremely concerned about Billie's safety. TRIGGER WARNING - Brad's extreme reaction to seeing Khan in Billie's office is the final straw that drives Billie to leave her husband and file for divorce. But Brad isn't satisfied with the marriage ending in that way. He has different plans.
Khan and Billie agree that there is definitely something between them but they decide that they will not sleep together until her divorce is final. The temptation is very real for both of them but Khan manages to shut things down before something happens that either one of them might regret. But when Billie is finally free, will she need the time to get reacquainted with herself? Or will Khan merely assume she needs that time and drive her away before their love has a chance to grow?
A slow-burn, cliffhanger, the story continues in the next book of the series which is simply titled Khan Part 2 and I can't WAIT to get my hands on it!
Spelling mistakes, errors in the plot, AND WHY IS IT TWO BOOKS?? 😡😡
I actually enjoyed parts of this book. If I ignored the spelling mistakes, (There was a huge amount of them.) the punctuation, random capital letters in the middle of sentences, and plot errors. But I was still enjoying it. Till I got to the end and it’s in two parts!!! Never been so angry about a two part book before. As it’s totally unnecessary!! Author making money by dragging it out.
Dax/Khan meets Billie when he’s trying to get his friends daughter into her school. Billie is the principal of a top school and Dax is the guardian of Elle who’s dad went to prison. At first I hated, loathed, and despised Dax as he views all women as fair game. They all supposedly want him and he f*cks a lot of women. So when he starts to have feelings for Billie who is married, I had serious doubts about this book.
I carried on reading and there were parts that were quite good, and Dax grew on me. As Billie is in serious danger from her ex, she goes to stay with him, and it’s weird. As he fights his feelings until he accepts he loves Billie, but she’s too good for him. What a crock of s**t. What he means is that he got scared.
I feel like the author has conned me. I now feel like I have to read the next book to know what happens.
This book and MC have the possibility to be great. Overall I liked the writing (some parts got a tad cheesy), but this book needs an editor. Plenty of sentences didn’t make sense, wrong words were used, spelling mistakes all over, etc. I also didn’t think Khan was that much of an alpha and he just didn’t impress me. The reason that he can’t be with Billie at the end just doesn’t come across as making sense or even coherent in his own thoughts. It’s because he’s a bad person? Or she needs to find herself? Or it’s his lifestyle? So they should just be friends? That part wasn’t well done or believable. Billie is just a hot mess. Staying loyal to a husband that’s been emotionally abusing you, then physically abused you, etc. etc. Nah. I’m interested in reading more - but not enough to pay for the books. I guess I will put these on a maybe list for if/when they go on KU.
I like the characters and the story is good enough but it needs a LOT of editing. And for as slow as the burn is, the spice level is very disappointing. Probably won't read the sequel.
I loves this story it grabbed my attention so quick . The drama the spark between Billie and Khan amazing. The remarks in this book made me giggle can’t wait for part 2
I received this in my Romance Reveal month subscription box for November 2021 and I struggled with the rating for this book. I really liked the story so that's why it got a 4 but there were a lot of inconsistencies thru out the book so if those things bother you then either be prepared ahead of time for them or don't read it. If I wasn't enjoying the storyline so much I would have stopped reading it. There were several chapters where the font style and size changed to a bigger and different type then changed back after a chapter or two. There were just sentences that didn't make any sense. Here is one example: He blames me for the reason why he left our club and went to the Henchman, but I remember him talking about the turf wars that the Henchman kept having and how their officers positions can't changing. Other things were it said He said when it should be She said since it was only 2 girls talking. I was able to get past the inconsistencies and will probably pick up the next book at some point.
