Jada Cooper and Bear Matterson had nothing in common. Busy running his Colorado-based tour and guide company, Bear was a mountain boy, pure and simple. Jada, on the other hand, knew little about Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, except that they were to the West. Raised in the Mile High City, she was an up-and-coming web designer on the cusp of earning the job of her dreams. When Bear rescued Jada and her front-wheel drive car from a snow drift, there was an immediate attraction, but neither Bear nor Jada was interested in the complications of a relationship. Bear had sworn off romance after the woman he loved chose another, and Jada was too busy trying to make things right with the family she’d run away from to contemplate a new relationship. Both heading to the same inn for Christmas week, they had no idea they’d be sharing more than a car ride. With a winter storm on the horizon, Jada and Bear have no choice but to accept their shared suite. What started as a ruined Christmas might turn out to be the best gift of them all... if only Bear and Jada can overcome their hang ups and give love a chance.
Celia K Nott grew up in a small town in Colorado where she learned the difference between bear and cougar attacks and how to control a spin-out on icy roads. She is married to her college sweetheart and they recently adopted their first child through international adoption.
Celia writes what she knows best: small mountain towns and quirky characters with adoption/foster-care themes woven throughout. When not writing, Celia is busy entertaining her son and their three dogs, enjoying the beauty and sport of Western Colorado or simply drinking tea and burying herself in a good book.
Each of Celia's series are rated for their heat level, ranging from sweet with heat to sexy. The Inn at Halfpoint series launches in October with her novel: A Suite Christmas. To get a taste of the Halfpoint world, you can read her debut book The Reunion at Halfpoint on Kindle or Kindle Unlimited.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review. This is a sweet love story about Jada and Bear. The story held my interest, and urged me on as I learned more about the characters and a bit about Colorado. The landscape was beautifully described so I felt like I was there. The author did very well with the pacing of the story, and I love the innkeeper Elbie and the other characters at the inn. It made me want to visit the place myself! I’m looking forward to the next book and more adventures with these characters!
You know the saying 'Never judge a book by its cover'? Well it's about time I listened to it! I am in the UK and it's not typical for our covers for romance books to look like this, but when I do I scroll past presuming I wouldn't like them and they would be old fashioned. But after receiving a free copy of this in exchange for a review, I thought I would give it a go. And I am so glad I did! It was completely different to the romances we get over here but in a good way. It was very easy to read and actually finished it in 2 sittings as I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed getting to know the 2 main characters, and also the owner of the Inn that they stayed in , and at times I was literally laughing out loud. Would highly recommend 5/5 🌟
I was provided with a free ARC copy of this book and am giving my honest review.
“A Suite Christmas” is the first in a series set in a quaint inn in rural Colorado. Because of a computer glitch, Jada Cooper and Bear Matterson end up sharing a suite for the Christmas holiday. Jada’s and Bear’s backstories are provided, so we have some understanding of the underlying issues that make getting into a relationship difficult for them. The resolution to these personal issues could have been explored a bit more, but the story was well-paced just as it was. The novel really shines in its descriptions of the gorgeous scenery of that part of Colorado and provides a beautiful backdrop to the developing relationship between Jada and Bear on the way to their happily ever after.
Although it’s centered around the Christmas season you can definitely enjoy all year round. I love unexpected romance and two people finding love when they are not looking for it. Bear and Jada were cute and so perfect for one another. Their banter is funny and sweet and when they open up to one another there is healing for both of them.
“We’re all just broken people living life searching for other broken people whose parts fit our holes.”
Jada just wants to be free. Bear just wants to be left alone. A computer glitch has them sharing a suite for a week... and helping each other work through their troubled pasts.
I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received this as an ARC and am giving an honest review. I loved it! The protagonists are opposites clearly attracted to each other, thrown into closeness by circumstance. The circumstances include a quirky inn called Halfpoint that I will spend my time searching for. The characters and story are convincing and it was a joy to read!
I really enjoyed this story about two complex, slightly damaged people finding love at a quaint inn....The couple was engaging and the dialogue was sharp and funny.
Gesturing towards a sign to Jada’s right, Bear took the turn that followed and the Bronco’s engine groaned as it worked to climb the steep hill. Rusted Beauty never would have made it up this hill even without the snow. As soon as they crested the top, Jada gasped and reflexively reached to grab Bear’s forearm. “It’s beautiful!” And it was. Heck, it was more than beautiful; it was beyond words. The long drive wound down the backside of the hill and around an outcrop of aspens. Just beyond sat the inn, a stunning two-story log cabin that backed up to a pine forest and looked out on a great, white meadow criss-crossed with snowmobile tracks. The windows of the inn shined with golden light and a huddle of shadowy outbuildings and garages helped it look grander than it really was. “Pretty nice,” Bear commented as he threw the Bronco into third gear. “Looks like they’ve got some good trails, too.” “So you do snowmobile?” “This time of year? It’s almost all I do. I run Matterson Hunts and Excursions.” Jada squeaked. “You’re kidding.” “Nope.” “But, you’re a legend!” she gasped. She was sitting in the car of the Bear Matterson! His one-man company had brought tourism income to dozens of small communities across Colorado by organizing guided hunts and tours throughout the year in those less-visited locals. He always worked with local business owners for accomodations, food and gear so any income generated from his tours stayed in those smaller communities. “I’m just a man,” Bear said, glancing at her. “How’d you hear about me? Look me up online or something?” She had, but she didn’t think he’d appreciate that. “You were the 2018 Entrepreneur of the year,” Jada said. “It was in the news.” “A year ago,” he said, looking at her with suspicion. Shrugging, Jada looked out the window to avoid Bear’s gaze. “I’ve got a good memory. Plus, the photo in the newspaper was hot.” Oh shit! Jada clapped a hand over her mouth and stared, wide-eyed, at Bear as they pulled up to the side of the inn where a huddle of vehicles sat. A flood light bathed the Bronco in its silver glow, highlighting Bear’s self-confident smirk in all its glory. He winked at her. “It was pretty hot,” he agreed. Jada huffed. A man that smug with himself shouldn’t be so sexy. Bear took one look at her and laughed. “Let’s get inside before you drool on the upholstery. This is a 1987 Bronco; It’s practically a classic.” “Jerk.” He grinned and opened his door, letting in a blast of freezing air. “And a hero. Don’t forget that part.”
Christmas, snowstorms, and a messed up reservation. Sure, what can go, right? You toss in a couple of totally different people with troubled pasts, some “helpful” inn guests, a helpful innkeeper, and things get interesting.
This is a sweet Christmas romance, but you will get the play on words in the title. Jada and Bear meet literally by accident and then are forced to spend time together. Strange how the universe works at times. Elbie, the innkeeper, reminds me of Clarence from “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Like she knows the future and helps them get there.
The characters are very likable, which then makes it easy to cheer for them. The author has a lovely relaxed, comfortable to read writing style, which will grab you from the start. Definitely worth adding to your TBR list. Do yourself a favor and push it toward the top.
Some great lines within the book will get you to laugh for sure, “penis shriveling cold” is one of them. Can I say that in a review? Trust me, you will get some laughs. And, you should even get some tears.
I should mention I was given an ARC copy for an honest review.
This was such a cute, steamy holiday story! A perfect read for this dang nor'easter that's kept me inside this weekend. Jada and Bear emulate the opposites attract theme in the best way! You just root for them to get together. Can't wait to read more from this author!
I could relate to the story with family not wanting to let go of old grudges. She had to find herself unfortunately the other twin didn’t get the memo. Good read.
I'm from the Caribbean, so I've never experienced a B&B Cabin with the snowmobiling and stuff but after this book, TAKE ME TO IT!!! I want a glitch that ends me up with a lumbersexual hunk of hard-on-the-outside-gooey-on-the-inside sexiness. 😍
I loved this book!! Jada is bae and Bear is a different level of wonderful. While they both have terrible wounds from their past, they help each other through it.
This is a must read for the holidays....it was beautifully written...just the way I like my reads...the story flowed effortlessly...descriptive and just a pleasure to read.... sweet and romantic....the sexual tension was palpable too lol...Ms Elbie was a trip😀...it was on my list of Christmas reads as I had read one other book from the author...ǹo regrets
Adorable love story. Jada is fiery and just enough to keep Bear on his toes. Bear is a typical grumpy mountain man, but they balance each other well. I would love to find out more about their story and how things turn out with Jada’s sister. Also how does Bear’s family take the news! Fingers crossed we get more of this story!
