In light of the new Shang-chi movie on its way to theatres, I decided to give the comics a try. I am very interested but still a bit lost to what makes his super-hero journey unique. I am excited to find out more.

Zheng Zu's Hunan retreat is on the top of one of the Rock mountains at Zhangjiajie National Park. How did they even get up there? And apparently Shang and his sister spoke ancient Mandarin and lived in a cult that pretended the Qing dynasty still existed. But then, why are they pro-China but not anti-Manchu and why are her feet unbound? She even has the pig-tail!?
She hid their father with a hammer to safe Shang... odd for kids being in a cult but fine, character development, but why is Zheng Zu saying she is a daughter of dirt and what is with the symbol he burned on her head? And what kid of Shang's age speaks so oddly? And why does Zheng have the pigtail? He is from the early Qing and a sorcerer.
A building "outside of London" looking as dynastic chinese as this one here would have been flodded by tourists already.
Why do Sister Hammer and the other two speak russian? And are they standing in thick snow? Why wasn't there any on the buildings?
When they embraced each other, I was hoping that it would be a trap and it was. Lucky for her Shang still likes crystal cakes so she could poison them.
And what system of Hun and Po do they use here´? The dialogue suggests that Hun is conscience and Po just movements, but then why did one think Shang speaking is Po soul?"
And if Zheng Zu prefers the Qing times, why do his hopping corpses look like this? Isn't that the look of Qing officials? Sure, they look good, thanks to the artist, but it is odd. Not to mentioned that Jiang-shi didn't have fangs. And if Zheng Zu is such a sucker for Qing times, why doesn't Sister Hammer have bound feet?
And no clue what Shang-Chi hallucinating to bleed stars is supposed to mean, but that corpse is his father after all, but why is he dressed like a manchu official respectively like the jiang shi?
So many oddities and not much good to say about this issue.
