The Cursed Ones #1
The Cursed Ones: Book One
Sierra never knew where her dangerous powers came from. What she did know was that they were completely out of control and, if her Father didn't keep her weak, they would destroy everything around her.But when the Crean brothers stroll into town and take a keen interest in Sierra, she begins to question if her Fathers cruel ways are the only option she has- or if she really could live a more normal life away from his rule. With her Father threatening to lock her away, her Mother no longer wanting to save her, and the new knowledge that she owes a voodoo witch her very life, Sierra has to make a choice; trust the brothers who seem to know more about her than they are letting on, or wait for the witch to find her and take her life. What would you choose?Find out in Book 1 of The Cursed Ones TrilogyPlease note- This is a reverse harem series (1 girl and 5 guys in this case!) that also deals with scenes of abuse from a parental figure. Love-Hate...because I want more NOW! *****
That description includes the preview for the author’s next book at the end of this one as well which I don’t usually read but I just needed to not stop reading this writing. I fell in love with all of these characters, really didn’t think I would, but now here I am depressed because I want more.
Awesome slow-burn, PNR/UF RH...
A lot of stories have an abused heroine with strengths/thoughts that contradict or feel disingenuous, this is not the case with Sierra. Her father controls her through physical punishments to her and her mother, but you get the sense that she’s always been a fighter in LOGICAL ways, she’s mentally tough. In other words the characters thoughts and actions are believable and the world is easy to get sucked into. I want to know more about her powers and the Hex group, I want to know their purpose and role of their council, but not in an annoying “why didn’t you go over that” way, more in a “I can’t wait for this to unfold” kind of way. So, good job on the writing, it was excellent and I can’t wait to read the next thing this author publishes!

A good start to a new series, through no fault of her own Sierra’s life is pretty bleak. Her father is trying to save her from herself the only way he knows how and she is aware that once school is finished she will be locked away for ever, but no one saw the 5 boys coming! Great storyline and characters, could have done with a little more editing but a great story and looking forward to more

I usually don’t leave reviews if I stop so early but WTF.
The beginning was confusing and it wasn’t explained how her father found out something 10 years ago but I could overlook that.
What I couldn’t overlook was the guys. They asked a complete stranger if she wanted to be dominated and gross!!!! After all she’s been through that was just disgusting and I couldn’t read anymore. Also I believe there will be a teacher involved In the RH and NO. Gross. She’s 17.
I don’t mind RHs where a 24+ y/o dates an older dude but 17???? No. Get out.

Not great writing
The basic storyline it self is ok, but it's poorly executed, almost like bad fan fiction. The characters are very 2d and the FMC is suppose to be 17 but talks like a 50 year old retired lady, which ends up being really frustrating. There isn't anything that hasn't been done better before unfortunately.
The FMC is abused by her dad who is scared of her powers. She meets 5 new boys at school who instantly notice bruises and then rescue her from her cage. IV seen a few different covers for this book as well, and none seem actually related to the story, although the most recent one is pretty. I did finish the book but thankfully got on KU as wouldn't pay for it

Sierra has been abused for the last 12 years by her father (some of this is depicted and may be triggering). She has pushed everyone away and is just trying to survive. Four guys and a new teacher show up at school and go out of their way to befriend her. At times I felt like Nick was kind of a jerk and kind of pushy. Some of the relationship seemed a little rushed and based more on “fated mates” type relationship, but I’m intrigued by the world the author has created, and am definitely going to check out what happens next in this series. It does end on an emotional cliffhanger, so hopefully book 2 is out soon.

Very intense!
This is very heartbreaking history with a very traumatic Sierra by her father's physical abuse. Very intense feelings in this book, but also has a very sexy and handsome boys willing to protect her at all cost. Can't wait for the second book. I want her father to pay for all the pain and damage he inflicted on Sierra. The hexagon it's complete let's find out what comes next.

Interesting
I usually don’t read a series until at least a few book are out because I am anxious to finish a series once I start. I like Sierra’s character she is abused, but still sees her father as trying to protect her from herself! Can not wait for the next book in this series truly a good start to a new author!

Great start to a series!
The mc is being abused by her father but there is a twist. He is trying to contain powers that showed up when she was 5 years old. The world the author made is interesting but there is still a lot of questions about how everything fits together. There is a cliffhanger.

What a great start to an amazing series. This is the authors first book and I think she did a home run. Can’t wait for the next book in this series and more of her writing.

Wow
Talk about being gripped. I'm in desperate need of book 2 after that cliff hanger. Would definitely recommend this book, can't wait for more.

This book got me thinking. It’s not particularly good – the basic premise has been done better, the writing is all over the place, with random chapters stating they’re from a character’s POV and then changing halfway through at the drop of a hat – but it’s not the worst I have ever read. Still, I couldn’t bring myself to say I genuinely enjoyed it and couldn’t figure out why until the last scene, where I realized I really, really don’t like Sierra.
For most of the book she is easy to root for because it is basically light torture porn, with all the detailed descriptions of domestic abuse. Of course I want her to get away from that. But when we deal with her in scenarios outside the abuse, it is very clear she just isn’t very likeable. Two particular scenes come to mind, one which can be summarized with then at the end of the book with her little tantrum, where despite the guys being just as surprised as she was at
There’s more stuff I disliked. I figured that at some point, someone would address Sierra’s behaviour, as she kept going back to Perion despite knowing full well he planned to literally
So… yeah. The best I can say about this book is that it is not the worst I have ever read, and that is far from glowing endorsement. I may skim through the next book in the series whenever it shows up (and I am sure I’ll notice, since the author never fails to rec this one in as many posts as she can in the relevant Facebook groups), but my expectations for any kind of satisfactory character growth for Sierra are low. When it comes to romance, I need to like the main character so I can sincerely root for her growth and success, but the few times I felt any sympathy for her were when she was black and blue from a beating, and damn if that isn’t an unhealthy relationship to have with anyone, fictional or not.

enthralling till the end
Amazing. I love the characters, I love the badass heroine and her strong inner backbone. I will say the trigger warning wasn’t a lie. So if you can’t stomach a bit of parental abuse then you probably won’t like this book. (I’ve read books that can be a lot more gruesome then some of the scenes in this book)
I will say it took some getting used to but a lot of the character switching was in third person. Particularly I’m not a fan of third person speak when the chapter is labeled as that persons thoughts. It took some getting used too, but I appreciate RH that allow the guys to have voice and thoughts to help develop those deeper feelings to get for your favorite characters.
I will say yes there are slight grammar errors, and not the British English kind. I swear you won’t even notice British English speak till a few chapters in. It runs pretty smoothly and personally I plan to read the whole series!
On a side note! Read Voodoo child. I promise you won’t regret it!

2.5/5 stars
I'm sorry what.... This book was pretty decent until the last chapter. I was probably going to give this book a solid 3-3.5 stars, but the last scene just makes me VERY upset.
Also, the way this book was formatted also just bothers me. I tried my best to ignore it, but sometimes the chapters would just start halfway through the page, and it just bothered me.
I most likely will not pick up the nest book just because I did not really like or connect to Sierra (even though I really wanted too!). The book just seemed like a lot of other books that I have probably read before...

Sierra is alone. She has to push people away because of her abusive father and her abilities. When Leo, Nik, Logan, Theo, & Josh move they ignore her walls because she is a part of their Hex, she just doesn’t know it yet. What a rollercoaster. Hopefully in the next book they’ll talk about some of the issues that have come up by the end. I want to know what happens to her parents and the darkness she heard.

Great beginning to a Slow Burn RH
I really enjoyed this slow burn reverse harem and looking forward to the next book in the series. Definitely has some very interesting concepts although also very much has triggers so be warned. The characters are developing nicely and the storyline leaves you wanting to continue on!

This was an amazing book!
I loved the characters, especially the FMC. I am hoping to see more of what she can do in the next book.
This was a good start to the series. There are only a few grammatical errors that didn't detract from the story.
Does have triggers. No spice, slow burn, no mm.

The story was pretty good, but could have had more character development and world building. I couldn’t really connect with any of the characters and time moved so fast with random parts having more detail than others. The ending with the sort of cliffhanger bothered me, I don’t know just not for me.

Intense
Wow this book was intense. I can’t believer everything Sierra has been through and at the hands of her father no less. For her mom to stand by and half help, what a joke. I’m glad this is a slow build because it ensnared me from stat to finish.

Excellent
I absolutely couldn't put it down. The plot was riviting the characters were strong and believable. The British terms were different, but I was prepared for that.
