Heilung für Mutter Erde

Rate this book
From cross-cultural legends recounting shamanic cures to the biblical accounts of the parting of the Red Sea and Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes, many spiritual traditions are rich in stories about seemingly inexplicable transformations of the natural world. The ancient healing art of transmutation, in which toxic substances are transformed into "safe" substances, is mentioned in all the world's great spiritual traditions, including Hinduism and Taoism. And while many have tapped this body of work to heal the self, it has yet to be used to heal our  environment.

For twenty years, Sandra Ingerman has studied alternative ways to reverse environmental pollution. In this book, Ingerman takes us on a remarkable journey through the history of transmutation, teaching us how we can use this forgotten technique to change ourselves and our environment. She provides us with creative visualizations, ceremonies, rituals, and chants derived from ancient healing practices that produce miraculous, scientifically proven results. In one dramatic illustration of what can be accomplished when consciousness and awareness fuel our actions, Ingerman describes her own success in transforming the nature of chemically polluted water.

In full disclosure, I was and in many ways, still am a student of the author. I have attended workshops with her and got to sit beside her for a week long workshop on Soul Retrieval. She was always very encouraging to me and willing to share her knowledge and unafraid to say, "I don't know, why don't you ask your power animals or teachers about that..."
As to the book, it is a grand overview of the returning power of work with the divine, the spirits, call them what you will. It is also a very useful guidebook on ritual and ceremony. While it cannot be called a "self-help" book in the usual sense, if one does undertake the shamanic path, one cannot but be changed for the better. I cannot recommend this book highly enough to anyone who is sincere in their desire to make the world itself and themselves better. If possible, get to one of her workshops, she is a great teacher. I am happy to admit that whenever I think of her, my heart feels a great love and gratitude that people like her exist and share their learnings with us. She is inspiring.

Honestly I don't really know what to "rate" this book. Although I have read other books about various spiritual practices before, I don't think I have explored anything quite like this.

I thought that this book was powerful, moving, and beautifully written. The author, Sandra Ingerman, is clearly an expert in her field of spirituality and transmutation. While there are many lessons and sentiments in this book that would be valuable for anyone to read, there were also stories that pushed me to consider my view of reality and truth.

At several points, especially when Ingerman spoke more literally about journeying and transmutation, I caught myself scoffing and shaking my head. However, when I actually thought about it, who's to say that Ingerman isn't the one who is correct, and I am the one who is too rooted in our literal, tangible reality? Who's to say that we can't transmute our polluted Earth using the power of intention? Maybe if everyone believed in the power of our minds and spirits a little bit more, we would collectively act more thoughtfully, with more respect for the power of our words and actions.

Some of my favorite quotes:

"What is the nature of our soul? What are the gifts, talents, and strengths we came into this world to manifest in this lifetime? Who were we before we were told who we are?" Page 61

"We are told by families, teachers, and authority figures who we are supposed to be and what we are good at. We are then loved for what we do rather than for who we are. Thus our original essence becomes buried deep within ourselves, and we lose contact with who we really are -" Page 61

"Because our parents are egoic in nature, they are not capable of connecting with us on the deep, essential level we crave, but instead project their needs, beliefs, hopes, and fears onto us. Therefore we never feel truly seen or loved by our own parents. We then proceed to evolve different unconscious dysfunctional behaviors in attempts to receive love." Page 89

"It's important not only to vision our future as we want it, but also to realize that our future is created by our present" Page 117

"We moved from living a life fully connected to and celebrating the forces of nature to living in a scientific, technological society ruled by the rational mind...We have made ourselves smaller spiritually in order to survive in our society. We have learned not to take up space." Page 139

I had this book back when I lived in Stockholm. I bought it in second hand and tried reading it but the whole stuff seemed delusional. Now, two years after I moved to Riga, I find this book again. This time around I could connect with it and truly apprehend what wisdom there was.

While reading i noticed change in myself. I started singing, I mediated with success and healed part of myself.

My throat which always seemed stuffed needed the acknowledgement of an incident more than ten years ago. I was in 1st Grade and we were told to write a poem about water. I got really into that and wrote a long poem while others in my class wrote four sentences. The teacher later printed all of them out and handed each of us a copy of the class's accomplishments. When I walked home that day two of my classmates were reading my poem and teasing me about it, trying their best to be mean. And it worked. I never understood it at the time but I really poured my creativity into that poem and here they were laughing at me. Part of my soul left that day, with the guidance of Ingerman's words I was able to bring it back. Breathing is easier now.

I was set on healing my headaches too. I mediated and my head felt like it was burning. Then I got a tingling feeling around the lower spine. At first I thought it was sexual assault but when going over my memories nothing seemed to fit. Turns out it was about love. So much of my love was based on mental obsessions. Because at some point I was praised for my intelligence I started to see myself as a person of logic and rationality. I used my mind for everything, including love. But logic cannot comprehend love and in love lies no logic. My mind was preoccupied with dealing with emotions it could not process, and at the same time preventing my emotions to sort out on their own. Now the mind is back at dealing with only logic, rationality, thinking, facts and learning. Love and emotions have their own designated place in which they are meant to be.

Every book I have read so far by this author has been absolutely amazing. This one is a great introduction to transmutation and embodiment of the divine. It is a book that is meant to be slowly digested and the pay off is greater than you could imagine. I am so grateful for having encountered medicine for the earth.

"Harmony within creates harmony without."

Sandra Ingerman talks here about a combination of internal energy techniques that can be used for personal healing and also how they might be used on the natural environment.

Disc 1 introduces what is meant by miracles for the earth. She introduces a formula for transmutation of negative states into less disruptive states with examples of what this means on the personal and environmental levels. She tells of repeated experiments with her techniques to change the pH of water (dropping pH 12 to 9 etc.) and how these results are left unexplained from a purely rational perspective. She also briefly talked about Jack Schwarz and additionally Masaru Emoto's Hidden Messages in Water.

Disc 2 introduces the techniques of the program. I liked her introduction to these techniques as a call to action; not chores added to a to do list but suggestions for practices that may be brought into the way you live your life. Disc 2 ends with a guided meditation of sorts and an introduction of toning.

This is like a self-help book for dealing with despair over the earth's devastation. Chapter by chapter, we're guided through helpful activities and transformational rituals, along with stories of Ingerman's remarkable life as a shaman.
