Bestselling author Drake Melville has been missing for three years now. Drake vanished after publishing The Bleeding Oysters, an epic novel that set new standards for depictions of sleaze and depravity and human monstrosity in popular fiction.
On vanishing, however, Drake Melville left a message for everyone, saying he’d ‘left town’ to go work on his follow-up novel The Book of Atrocities.
The problem was, no one could find Drake. It seemed like he’d vanished off the face of the Earth.
And now, three years later, Drake has just sent messages to his ex-wife Liz, his current (and abandoned) wife Melody, and his younger sister Chloe . . . asking them to meet him in Raynham, MA.
Drake says he’s now completed The Book of Atrocities and is ready to present it to the world.
But there’s a whole lot that Liz, Melody, and Chloe Melville don’t know about Drake’s Book of Atrocities. And unfortunately they’re on their way to find out those excruciatingly painful truths.
Because, see, Drake Melville is a VERY EVIL man with a VERY EVIL plan . . .
Wol-vriey writes eXXXtreme horror fiction, and also some surrealist stuff.
To date, he has published over forty novels in both genres.
His horror novels include: EnterPAINment, LGBT, The Virgin, Marriage, Women, Nightmare Fuel 1 & 2, Haunted House XXX 1 & 2, and How To Succeed in Life.
On the surrealist side of things, he is the author of Vegan Zombie Apocalypse, Vegan Vampire Vaginas, Vagina Mundi, and the disturbing and unsettling Dr. Orgasm.
A solid book for 𝘈𝘋𝘜𝘓𝘛 fans of extreme horror. I enjoyed the imaginative plot and the mix of horror with fantasy/sci-fi, but I could never fall completely into the story because the characters were just too unbearable and un relatable. 3.5 ⭐ rounded up.
The author of a book of shocking and sacrilegious content has emerged after years of hiding. He claims to have written the ultimate book of horrors, which he is ready to release. Accompanied by his loved ones, reporters, a cameraman and a surprise guest, he prepares to take over not one but two or more coexisting worlds. His methods are bloodthirsty and selfish, and much violence, gore and prurience follow. While the content of this book demands much suspension of disbelief, it is quick and entertaining. Do you choose our world, or the static earth? Absolutely not for the faint of heart.
I have read several books by Wol-vriey and I have yet to be disappointed. He never ceases to amaze me with his incredibly twisted imagination. I respect the fact that he does not hold back on the gore and isn’t afraid to cross the line for the sake of extreme horror entertainment.
Meet bestselling author and occultist Drake Melville. Missing for three years, Drake has returned with news that he has completed his latest novel, The Book of Atrocities, a book so vile and depraved that he will have the world at his feet. He has asked his ex-wife, current wife and sister to join him at his new home. Curious as to the reason for his disappearance and where he has been, they all agree to meet with him. In their wildest dreams they could never imagine what is in store for them, for Drake has a sinister plan and no one will be safe from his madness.
This supernatural horror will shove you well out of your comfort zone. Wol-vriey is an amazing storyteller whose brilliant writing captivates his readers right from the start. This story is perfectly paced with well-developed characters. The scenes of gore and terror are raw and explicit—perfect for fans of hardcore, extreme horror. One scene in particular—which I won’t spoil for you—is intensely sadistic, involving Drake’s ex-wife’s father. All I can say is, WOW—what a wonderfully warped imagination! I also love the concept of the static earth. I’d love to read more about this unique and terrifying place.
Extreme horror fans, you won’t want to miss out on this one!
I don't read supernatural very often. It's not a genre that I seek out. However, I like this author's imagination. I know this storyline would also have some gore to it..I was correct. The gore level at the end was plenty to please me. The story itself was quite interesting. Being a writer myself, I found a plot about a missing author ( lost in seclusion to write a book) enough to catch my attention. Being immersed into another world ( Static Earth) felt more like a fantasy novel. I wish we could have learned more about that world. No matter what sub-genre of horror you prefer, this books covers plenty of them and will probably hit on things that just about reader would like
This.read.was packed full of detail. Endless descriptions so you felt you was there with them. Great characters each different backgrounds so you could understand there Views and whys. The storyline itself full of twists and turns that you couldn't predict where it was heading. Very imaginative, gripping and compelling with brutal times near the end. A great read and would recommend
Oh my god this one requires a strong stomach! A couple of times, I thought I was about to be sick along with the characters. 🤣 Very messed up. Lots of fun.
The Book of Atrocities by Wol-vriey is a fast-paced, mind-violating Extreme Cosmic Horror novel. This is everything an extreme horror story should be and is a superb cosmic horror story to boot! But cosmic horror fans need to understand that this is Extreme Horror, meaning it is graphic with violence and sex and gore.
Extreme Cosmic Horror is becoming its own subgenre, and I love it! And The Book of Atrocities is an excellent addition to this new subgenre.
As with Wol-vriey’s other extreme horror stories, The Book of Atrocities has eclectic, colorful characters who are engaging, entertaining, and sometimes very disturbing. These characters realistically range from simple to complex, and their dialogue flows naturally within this scope, even tipping over into dark, dry humor.
Yeah, the dark humor may not be for everyone. But this is extreme horror, so it is perfectly acceptable to snicker at the occasional sarcasm, dry humor, and B-movie-level moments. Wol-vriey is a master at sneaking irreverent humor into an intense moment.
The story itself is well written, well developed, and very entertaining. It is full of twists and turns, sex and violence, suspense and the occult; all expertly woven into a fun and disturbing extreme horror must-read.
I started this book expecting a splatterpunk gorefest, I ended up in tale of twist and turns I did not expect. one of this books that you just can't put down very well written.
"The Book of Atrocities" is a novel that any and every fan of Splatterpunk or extreme horror should add to their collection.
Despite that, I would still have to give it 3 stars. Although it was a fun ride, the book still felt like it was lacking in a few areas.
The world-building was amazing, but when we first start learning about Static Earth and all of the other alternate realities I thought the author would go more in-depth about this fascinating world, but our characters get to see little to none of this world since they are shoved into a McDonald's basement as soon as they arrive. I would have loved to explore this world where half of the planet is covered in darkness and its inhabitants use magic instead of electricity, but all we get is a brief description and we learn nothing else. I just feel as if it were a wasted opportunity and I really hope the author writes another book set in this universe so we could fully explore it an uncover all of its secrets.
The second-in-command antagonist was a great character, but we hardly get any backstory for him and I would have liked to learn what shaped him into the person that he's become.
I was also surprised to see a trans character in the novel, but it's a personal pet peeve of mine when a trans person is called a "transsexual" instead of a "transgender". Its a misused term and every time I read this character be referred to as a "transsexual" the SJW in me cringed a little.
The ending was great and it leaves alot to the imagination where in essence you create your own ending, but I just would have loved to see more and not have had the book feel so shallow.
All in all the book was entertaining, but it just left me wanting more and feeling a bit unsatisfied by the end of it. Despite my criticisms though I will still be looking out for more of Wol-Vriey's work and I really hope he expands this universe in the future.

I received an e-book copy of The Book of Atrocities from the author, Wol-vriey, in return for my honest review, which follows below. I thank him for this opportunity.
I rated this 3 stars. I recommend this for readers that enjoy extreme horror, explicit content and off the rails characters. I could not really see giving this as a gift; because most of the people I would need to buy gifts for are not into this type of fiction. For me, I enjoyed the story, but found some scenes went beyond my comfort zone. This may in part be because I read this while sitting a few feet from my kids, but it’s 2020, there is no privacy while this pandemic rages on. Other readers may not feel the same way.
Drake Melville has been missing three years. The Bleeding Oysters is his infamous novel of depravity, and is tied loosely to another novel, The Virgin ( an elitist viewer reality show, where contestants fight to keep their virginity, to the death if necessary. ) Six adults gather at a location instructed by Drake. It seems he has finally finished his new work, titled The Book of Atrocities; he is willing to come out of hiding. His current wife, ex-wife, sister, and three others are to convene at a house and listen to someone who looks an awful lot like the main character from Melville’s first book. This is the opening scene for a what quickly becomes a gore/sex filled misadventure.
Some of the dialogue read a tad juvenile for me, it reminded me a bit of the horror movies with the busty women on the cover art; the ones where the movie trailers would all have the red warning bands. Like I mentioned earlier, there were some scenes of violence that went to far for me personally. I don’t think that will be the case for other readers, especially those that like splatter-punk, extreme gore, and explicit sexual scenes with violence mixed in.
Very very entertaining book. Extremely fast paced, it doesn’t really skip a beat. I’d definitely recommend this book to fans of extreme horror. The main villain is one of the most despicable people I’ve ever seen in extreme horror. Would not recommend this to people with a light heart. 4.5 stars
I read the ARC version of this book- Another short yet intense read the way I like it. Lots of gore in this one. Wol-vriey did it again with his collection of gory scenes that you would never thought doable. Honestly, how does one even managed to think of them? Opening a Wol-vriey's book is like opening a drawer full of surprises. It can be a drawer of discoveries, or it can be a drawer of nightmares. To me, it is the former. :D
Back to the book: the plot started out fast and it was a non-stop ride of action till the very end. I loved the idea of a parallel Earth that runs alongside ours, and the idea of different types/race/breed of humans/creatures dwelling in them. (It really reminds me of Edward Lee's City Infernal! Gosh I love that book so much!)
Though I think I would have liked more humor to be in this (Or am I just getting used to Wol'vriey's writing style? :P), still overall I enjoyed this fast and interesting read and I do like the ideas presented as well as the crazy scenes. I absolutely loved reading about Tessa.
Horror, Gore, Mystery, Erotica, Suspense Supernatural Fantasy Thriller.... That pretty much covers this book from the first page to the last. I'm new to this/these genres so I didn't quite know what to expect. This is most definitely an Adult only book as the descriptive acts within might just have some running for the door while some might find themselves burning through pages to read more. I didn't really connect to any of the characters in this book and the first half was pretty much setting everything up for the main plot. If it wasn't for the heated hot and sweaty moments I don't know if I would have made it through to the end. It all does come together right at the end which I do like because predicting the ending 3/4 through a book is a kill joy. All I can say is never abandon true love for one's own advancement because you quite possible could find yourself disappointed when something you know is true and solid is replaced with emptiness and regret. Enjoy
I have to sleep off my feelings for this book before i feel like i’m ready to write a review.
I have read a weird, splatter punk, i-do-not-even-know-what-to-call-it genre and i know it is not for me. I am attracted to suspense, horror, and gore but not with supernatural/scifi. It’s just not for me.
I do not think it is fair for Wol-vriey that i am giving his book such a low rating just because the genre is not within my enjoyable standard.
Having said that, i know for sure that there will be people who enjoys this kind of story, the bizarro world. And i still want to explore Wol-vriey’s other books to see if there’s one for me.
A great example of extreme horror. I liked the characters, even Seer Jonah and Drake Melville. The story is gruesome, sometimes humorous and kept me turning the pages. There is plenty of room to expand and create a whole series of books based on some of the characters and locations. I look forward to reading more of this author.
A really enjoyable easy read didn't know what to expect but I got a shock or two though the story and really enjoyed it. I've done a full review on my Instagram page should anyone want to read what I've done HorrorScifiBloodandGoreBooks
Plenty of blood, murder, sex and even a wizard 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Thanks for the copy Wol-vriey sorry took me a few weeks to get to it.
What a horrific man. I will say I was intrigued and wanted to read the book Drake had written that caused such a stir. This book was all over the place and nothing liked I expected. I really loved the ending. It lost me a tad throughout.
