This was an okay anthology of short weird / creepy stories, consisting of tales from A Stewart Harrison, Charles Dickens, Defoe, Smollett, John Harwood, Edmund Yates and Charles Ollier, as well as some unattributed stories.

I found that the Dickens & Ollier stories were the best contributions in the book, the others ranged from just okay to poor.

The German volume in this series was much better.
